QUOTE(exkaizen @ Jul 22 2011, 09:42 AM) what's yur expectation for ur tabs? Thanks TS... tablet wars are so great that me getting so confuse liow nowadays if screen - choose Transformers if full size USB port - ICONIA (as its on tablet; transformers have the port but on the dock)**ICONIA can plug in 2.5" external HDD & USB thumbdrive** if internal storage size - ICONIA (32GB) if need docking - Transformers (but heard they have problem) but benny888 mention Transformers have more major problem (especially on the dock) then ICONIA. So suggest u go through transformers thread and get to knoe what is the major problem they are facing (whether it affect your expectation specs)... as far as ICONIA, they don't have major problem hence the thread quite dull... T.T fyi, previously ICONIA have update issue which is sometime not able to updates but there's solution for it... as for custom roms for ICONIA, there are 6/7 custom roms you can choose besides the stock rom |

Tested HTC Flyer, XOOM 3G, & Iconia A500 just now.
Flyer lagging the most, followed by XOOM. Surprisingly, Zoom's browser hanged(had to force close), but Iconia... much much smoother a lot than Xoom!!! Both Iconia and Xoom running on 3.0 only. Acer's doing great! One more thing... if there is no display, I could see dots on the screen on Iconia, but not on Xoom. Different capacitive tech? QUOTE(exkaizen @ Jul 22 2011, 08:52 PM) thats y... not many ppl update that they have issue for iconia.... the downside of iconia is the screen only... but still decent For me, the screen looks just like xoom,... fine pixels and clear. Looks like TF101 thread fills with issues and bugs on wifi and video lags.Oh yeah, I tested the car racing game... smooth like ipad's. QUOTE(RedShirt @ Jul 25 2011, 10:06 AM) Are there any shops around Klang Valley or KL where I can go and play/test the Iconia and TF to have a 1st hand experience before deciding ? There's an Acer booth at the ground floor entrance of Digital Mall Section 14 PJ. They have a unit for testing. At the sleeve that comes with it looks solid and nice! |

QUOTE(gl7 @ Jul 26 2011, 01:31 AM) As for the GPS, 30 seconds should consider good since mobile phone uses AGPS, which "assisted" by cell towers to locate your position while iconia is pure GPS, although also listed as AGPS, but without phone capability, i assume the "A"GPS is limited. When I tested it with stock HC3.0, it was already so smooth! I wonder how's the performance if it is running on 3.1I used once on the road, with Sygic, the route is accurate. But most of the time i just use the mobile phone Sygic, since i to not have A500 car holder and car charger if the A500 running low battery. gnitney: what a modern dad and good child your father have =D , i hope you upgraded to 3.1 latest patches for best performance. Added on July 26, 2011, 3:33 pm QUOTE(RedShirt @ Jul 26 2011, 03:22 PM) Welcome. Iconia is a humble/stable tablet... in which, it is not highly advertised. At last, I got myself Iconia A500. I choose it over Galaxy tab 10.1 due to long charging hours and without USB port.

QUOTE(keysg @ Jul 31 2011, 09:28 PM) I m iconia a500 owner for 2month now. Same same here,... bought it because Galaxy Tab 10.1 requires long charging time. Worth the money. The unit is fast and it's 2 days old!Totally worth the investment. I choose to buy a Android honeycomb tablet than Froyo/Gingerbread tablet / iPad cause: 1. Tegra base processor that powerful enough (see how fast HTC desire HD become a moderate phone now, compare to SGS2, LG optima 2X, Mot. Atrix..) 2. Tegra base processor is the only processor that HC is supporting. Upgrading to new HC should just come to Vendor decision than technical bottlenet. 3. 10" inch tablet is sufficent big for every daily PC work or media playback. (Reason for Acer: reasonable prices, USB full size + 32G + no docking required, why need carry a dock around when we want a tablet). But I heard recently: 1. Android Icecream sandwich is preferring TI OMAP 4 processor. 2. Tegra base processor may have issue working on 4G. Heard Mot. Bionic is going to switch to TI OMAP 4. 3. Tegra 2 rendering isn't as good as TI OMAP 4. (That why NvDia is such hurry to announce the kal-el processor that claim to support 1440p) 4. nVdia CEO is disappointed during the early launch of HC tablet, as most THD app isn't ready nor Android Market. at least, There is still someone working on Xoom 2 & Eee Pad transformer 2 that may use Kal-El processor. The best solution to consumer: 1. ICS android support both Tegra and TI Omap4 (TI for phone, Tegra for tablet) 2. Acer still mercy those Tegra 2 tablet and get upgrade to ICS android. (Heard Google promise 18month support & upgrade for new android from it launch date) else we r on XDA custom rom future Sorry I m to use to Windows environment. A pc that last many years with enabling us to upgrade windows version, (if the hardware support that). TS,... please add us as owners. Thanks! |
