Flashed Lite'ning Rom v1.5 XXKF2

Quadrant back to 32xx
Aware from sleep still take 1.5 second
Camera yellow spot at centre noted

Is this normal?
*
I am on same rom as yours
Awake from sleep is always immediate. This issue - it is always immediate no matter what rom I have tested ( Villian, Cognition, Litening, AngeloM and original stock ). So I don't think is rom issue - could be some apps interference
Camera - I thought the complain is pinkish spot . I don't have any yellow or pinkish issues with camera.

finally litening ROM users, i'm using XWKF1 kernel. can i flash litening ROM directly? If yes, will it become XXKF2?
*
If you have read Litening 1.5 specs - this is what he has stated:

21/06/2011
Now with official XXKF2 Firmware
Modem XXKF2
Added CF-Root 4.0 kernel for XXKF2

So what doubts you still have ?? Flash it and you will have XXKF2

actually if u read the thread the guy who first brought this up posted, it's said the awake time is due to the processor underclocking when you go to sleep. Try playing music while go sleep, then u try on again, it will be immediate bcoz the music is playing and the proc is not underclocked. Another thing you can do is to change the cpu governor to performance instead of on demand. or set the minimum  clock frequency. I'm using process monitor widget pro to do this.

then your screen will awake faster and your battery will drain a bit faster too  tongue.gif
*
Why need to do all this stuff ? Is not necessary - mine always wakeup immediate . Sometimes all such tweaks are not necessary, only create more issues - i just leave everything at default

Now starting to get a clearer pciture.
So flashing ROM does matter what firmware you are on. They just change to the firmware the ROM comes with. right?

Going to buy a sd card first and buy titanium backup pro.
*
YES - I always say ( already lost count how many times I have say it ) - PLEASE READ the details/specs of the rom you want to flash. The rom cooks always specify what changes their rom will bring to your phone. Their thread is the BEST source as they are the ones who do up the rom and they are the one who write down the features and specs.

THis is addressed to new users : Why is that so many times, planning to flash rom guys always ask such questions here - can this XXXX rom do this or that ?? Can XXX rom have this feature ??? Can XXX rom flash by odin or recovery ?? ... and the list goes on and on . Go to the source - and read the specs ; actually if you want more info you can always also post at XDA or even PM the rom developer
It is not that I am not willing to answer BUT the fact is ALL the answers are at the rom thread and since you are going to download the rom there, please READ the thread details - it is only/always on post#1 in the thread

Out of the balance 14 GB, about 2GB is used by phone suystem and you have about 12 GB left . When you installed apps with supporting data , example games downloads, dictionary data, newsfeed, tweeter feeds data etc - all such data goes into the other 12 GB partition
In this case papago x5, the Navisea folder should be in this 14 GB partition. If you use any file explorer : this is the /mnt/sdcard

If you put in a external micro SD card - you will see this card at /mnt/sdcard/external_sd

Trust this is clear to you

*
Correct ; before I flash any new rom or its updates, I will always read other user comments about the update. It doesn't take much time, but you are better prepare to understand the possible issues. If I am not comfortable with the users comments, I will not flash it.
Rom issues are widely addressed and discussed at the XDA forums , most of the time any commonly asked questions will already have solutions/answers there

Mine is OCED10 which is a UK set
I never bother to update my camera firmware as I have no issues. I am also not sure whether the various roms I have tried has changed it. But one thing is sure, since day one till all the roms I have tested, I do not have pinkish spots. So far the only phone I have pinkish spot camera issues was the htc HD2

Btw have you guys tried removing the stock apps?

There's too many stock apps in which it is irrelevant to me but I'm not sure whether its safe to uninstall the apps though.

Mind sharing what are the apps safe to uninstall?
*
Use Titanium Backup to FREEZE such apps - is better than removing it. Freezing apps you will not see in menu and it will not run in background. These are some apps safe to remove ( if you want to remove it ). DO NOT remove core apps - eg contacts, calendar, phone , default launcher ( can freeze this provided you have alternative launcher but not recommended even to freeze in case you have phone crashes ) etc which are basic features of the phone

QUOTE(yehlai @ Jun 26 2011, 12:49 AM)
Again thanks for the advice Mr. President,

Im running XWKE7 now, rooted. Now going to flash with Villian 1.4
after read through all the pages in XDA I think I should:

Flash to firmware XXKF2
Run factory data reset
Root with Cf-root (XXKF2 version)
Flash to Villian 1.4
Backup with Titanium backup

Anyone have successfully running Villian 1.4? Kindly advice.
*
This is what Villian says about his rom: paste here - note my highlights

VillainROM 1.4

The latest custom ROM from VillainROM for the SGS2 is VillainROM 1.4. It's based on XXKF2 firmware for Europe.

First of all, if you are upgrading from VillainROM 1.2 or above, just flash this from CF-Root version of CWM. I suggest a backup first. A wipe is not required, but if you have issues, is suggested. I updated without a wipe, and no issues here.

If you are installing from another ROM, or stock ROM, you need to be using the CF-Root kernel, as applicable for your current ROM. You can find CF-Root and instructions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1103399

When using this ROM, I suggest the XWKF2 CF-Root kernel, from post 4 of Chainfire's thread.

So, your steps : note my comments in bold

Flash to firmware XXKF2 : NOT necessary as the rom comes with XXKF2
Run factory data reset : YES best to do it and from recovery do clear cache partition and at advanced: clear dalvik cache
Root with Cf-root (XXKF2 version) : Flash this first than only do above step
Flash to Villian 1.4
Backup with Titanium backup : You should do this as FIRST step before even flashing new rom - read again Villian comments - his first 1-2 lines

Hmm.. I don even see clockworkmod recovery. My title shows "android system recovery <3e>".

So u said need to flash again, tats mean flash the rom (which i'm using lite'ning) or flash the cwm?
*
Yours is till on original STOCK rom recovery . Looks like you fail to flash it successfully
So use Odin and just flash it again the Chainfire kernel: just takes half a minute

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399

Instructions - ODIN (long)
- Follow these instructions to the letter. Do not touch any buttons or checkboxes that are not listed below to touch!
- Unzip the attached CF-Root-xxx-vX.X.zip
- (USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
- Start ODIN
- Click the PDA button, and select CF-Root-xxx-vX.X.tar
- Put your phone in download mode
- (USB) Connect the phone to your computer
- Make sure repartition is NOT checked
- Click the START button
- Wait for the phone to reboot
- Done

Flashing this kernel will NOT affect your rom

Just a joke : You pay RM 1 million for a Ferrari , the engine is very hot - why pay so much ? Better buy a RM 50,000 proton whose engine will not be so hot ??

All the androids I have used are warmer than the other Blackberry, windows mobiles, symbians I have used. The SGS II is only slightly warmer ( perhaps 2-3 degree ) and is more obvious due to its thin shell. It is not so " hot" ( which is a wrong word to us) , to be uncomfortable. Some guys even used the word " burning" which is downright ridiculous. Do show me some user who got his hands or ears burned using it and I will give him ,my SGS II free - no questions asked

I have not done it on the SGS II. Based on my experience flashing all my previous Android phones, just use Odin to flash back an OFFICIAL rom will do it. Flashing stock kernel will not do it

can anyone show how is that pink spot look like?...

just flash mine to lite-ning rom.. thinking about changing to villain now.. i have 3 launcher now, still havent make decision which is the best to use. deng.
*
Just see the photos posted above ; you can see some pinkish tint around the top central area. This pinkish tint seems to crop up in most of the smartphones , even the iphone is not spared. The problem is , it does not affect every user.
I faced this in my previous HTC HD2 which was a big issue than as many users affected. A firmware patch about 4 months later fixed it. So this issue I'd say depends on individual on how you view it. If you ask me ( I am not a photo enthusiast ) even the posted shots I find OK. I'd not realized there is a pinkish tint until I am told there is one. However some users take this seriously and view it as a defect - to such users I'd suggest you claim a new set if you are not happy with it. Even the great Xperia Arc ( reputed for its better camera ) which I previously used has this pinkish tint but is very minor - I did not even noticed it . I have to take a shot against a white background to be able to see it but then is very minor. Look for it , than you see it

Same scenario, at XDA some body posted yellow spots at lower right or left and said he has to look for it to see it. I'd say as long as you don't have to look for it using a microscopic view - it is not an issue. We read of such issues often - Incredible S has light bleed issues at its buttons, transformer and ipad 2 has screen bleeding issues, HTC Sensation has signal grip issues, iphone4 antenna issues etc , SGS II has warm issues as is too thin, etc etc. Simply if we buy any of these and not happy ask fro a replacement ; if the replacement still has it and you just cannot accept it - sell it off and buy another brand model which does not have such issues that you consider an important feature

1. Connect phone to PC , you will see both internal SD card ( NO NAME ) and external SD card - just copy it to internal SD card.
OR
2. Take out external SD card. Copy file to external SD card . Put card back and using any file explorer just copy over to internal SD card

A question on papago: when you say put the NaviSEA folder in the root sdcard, what does it mean? What is the name of the folder where i should put the naviSEA in?

The folders I have in my phone when I connect to computer:
Android, Attachments, Aura, burstlyImageCache, data, DCIM, LOST.DIR, media, openfeint, Samsung, ShareViaWifi, TunnyBrowser, usbStorage, WhatsApp

edit: i'm asking this because I tried to just paste the naviSEA by creating a new folder (means add a naviSEA folder in addition to the list above) but the papago fails to launch
*
Put it at the root ( the very top) of the internal SD card. The Navisea folder is the main folder - you don't put this in any other folder. If you don't know what is root of SD card - I also don't know how to explain. All the folders you listed are appearing at the root of the internal SD card

I just answered similar question today ; repaste here. Looks like I have to post this in page 1 - I assume there were basics that most users should know

The internal 16 GB is flash memory. 2 GB is partitioned ( unviewable ) and all your apps is installed there.
