Tried the above mod. Okla, but th DSP + CM7 Player mod is easily available through VRTweaks so I did that.

And guys, do yourself a favour and install any of the free flipfont packages on the market. Stuff is so much clearer with new fons for people who don't zoom in like me.

Any obsessive multi-taskers amogst you guys? If there are, I present to you SwipePad, which even in it's free version is proving to be quite useful indeed. It's a anywhere launchable application launcher, and also plays the role of inpromptu task switcher.

Can't wait to get my GC account unblocked so I can buy the additional modules.

http://swipepad.info

Well, it's free and I have no issues so far so try it out guys

they are so smart, making the main app free, but the other apps which make it work need to pay  shakehead.gif

LOL, we have taskmanager ma, just put that somewhere in the free launcher - wallah, task management addon. The lack of recent apps is a shame though.

best post ever...wish there was a like button to press on...haha

It's called reverse-shilling the market. Calling something bad MIGHT make someone sell something for cheap, or at least sell something that is BLARDY OUT OF STOCK EVERYWHERE lol.

Anyways, just recovered from an only God knows what issue my heavily customized WidgetLocker (with rootenabler) had with CF3DPro. Turns out, WL didn't need that root help at all. Also experimenting with freezing some useless stuff.

One bad thing about the CM7 music app is no more notification player widget. One even worse thing about Android in general is, NO WAY TO SET PRESS HOLD VOLUME TO SKIP TRACKS cry.gif

Oh well. Anybody know of a good quality mic adaptor that will work with other headphones? At least there's dozens of apps that use the mic button.

To all SGS2 sifu, want to ask you all, can the SGS2 act as the modem by using data plan when connected to PC? Also, can I still receive call when I'm doing that?
*
It can even become a WIFI hotspot for you mang. Check on Settings -> Wireless and network -> Tethering

And as long as you're in a 3G area, YES you can receive calls while being Tethered. EDGE/GPRS cannot.

With all this battery life talk, I can't wait to get my battery case already. Even the i4 wouldn't last a day in my hands without one lol.

Testing RedDonut, Android alternative to AirVideo -> my biggest issue with leaving iOS. Streaming via 3G, will update how it goes later.

I AM STREAMING an AVI straight from my laptop -> WIFI -> Internet -> 3G -> SGS2. Yee haw, RedDonut + Vplayer works!

No conversion, no transferring files, no nothing.

But rather then streaming and pausing to buffer halfway like Airvideo, it takes about 10-15 minutes to download the entire converted stream over to the SGS2, then it's smooth sailing with NO BUFFERING WHATSOEVER.

Advantage over Allshare -> stream over freakin 3G or any WIFI access point you can find, even if your computer is in the next state over, with nearly zero configuration needed = watch anything anywhere easily guys.

Disadvantage -> low quality streams lar brader. HD over 3G? You will quickly go overquota lol.

Nice. Now I just need to get my Google Checkout account cleared again, I need to buy BOTH RedDonut Premium (the free one only displays 3 videos from your chosen folder, and only plays a video for about 10 minutes) and Vplayer Full (7 day limitation on the free version).

Caveat? While the whole shebang costs about $3 on iOS (Airvideo + desktop software), it will cost me more then twice that on Android (Vplayer: $5, RedDonut Premium: $5). So much for being the "cheaper" platform lol.

EDIT: WAIT, there's ANOTHER alternative. Qloud Media. It's cheaper too (1.99 woot), let's see if it works okay.

wow this is cool too, gonna try this out!

EDIT:gah sadly this requires port mapping and i'm behind a university's proxy and router  sad.gif

Oh that's a problem bro... hmm.gif

Tried Qloud Media. The app was so smooth and the UI was GREAT - until it came to actually playing videos. Nothing could be played.

Which is funny really lol. It was the exact opposite to the RedDonuts experience (crap, laggy UI, videos actually playing lol).

well of course the stock earphone can't be compare to a good after market brand.
and i am not using a stock earphone. Currently i am using Bijou 3 and it did a really good job with my previous phone and mp4 player but when i pair it with SGS2 i am not satisfied with the bass.
*
Quite simply put, the SGS2 is nowhere near the original SGS in terms of pure output SQ. It's not even close to the iP4. But with a little tweaking, it's surviveable. I use the CM7 DSP and CM7 stock player, feeding my trusty FA Eternas. Oooookay lah.

Here's hoping someone does one of the below:

1) Give us lineout to feed to our amps. Even IF the DAC is crap.

2) Give us true digital out through the USB-OTG connection, sopposedly possible by Ice Cream Sandwich.

the battery is really good in KF1.. i use the phone as i alwasy do with 3G on, and sometimes wifi on (without switching off the 3G).. previously with KE2 / KE7 the best it got is 21 hours, but now it goes up to 30 hours~!  rclxms.gif

*
Noice. Seems that I just abuse my device. My old iPhone 4 struggled to get past 10-11 hours on a single charge even WITH a battery pack (it lasted like 6-7 hours w/o one).

My SGS2, sans battery pack or extra battery or external battery, was dead in 4-5 hours lol.

Running VillainLite 1.4 with most Samsung customizations taken out, brightness set manually through the notification bar slide method (very, very nice).

Got any other useful tips like this smile.gif
*
It's baked into every Samsung phone as far as I know. I liked it so much the first time I heard about it a few months ago I did it for my iPhone 4 with Activator - not knowing I will have to use the real thing one day lol.

4-5 hours of brutal abuse is quite good.. the desire HD is dead within 1.5-2.5 hours if i can recall back and sensation is around 3 hours like that.. But my term of abusing is 3G + browsing/gaming/IM etc
*
Try semi-constant 3G browsing with all sync notifications on (FB, TW, Email, RSS, only God knows what else). Google App sync is off tho.

And that's WITH crap removed/freezed from the firmware, which I'm in the process of optimising some more.

so.. is there any issue for overclocking the phone, like heat up faster, battery life shorten???
*
You can wait for PowerSkin to come up with one, they already have (a hideous looking) one for the Sensation just out, the SGS2 should be next.

And, overclock - faster - battery sure die - hot can cook egg

Underclock - slower - battery less die - not so hot.

You can guess which one I wanna try out.

hp mahal but got camera problem n dat is ok wit u?

hmmm, mana bole itu macam..

msti mau komplen oo
*
Ipon lagi mahal camera also got problem semua orang buat dekk je?

Mana bole itu macam. Oh wait, the "blue spot problem" is a "magical" feature.

Every phone has its flaws. It's a matter of putting things into perspective, sans fanboi-ism. If there is ONE thing I want the SGS2 to be better at is it's battery life, nothing else (right not it sucks bad compared to the iPhone lol).

We ALREADY know that the camera on the SGS2 sucks relatively in low light compared to the Arc AND the iPhone 4 (both have backlit sensors), but in retrospect we have 1080p recording.

@manx: Wi-Fi sharing is essential to Kies Air and also the Hot Spot feature.

I don't use Kies Air (it's buggy anyway) and I can use Barnacle Wifi Tether for Hotspot so unless you plan to tether to something that cannot detect AdHoc networks (Barnacle = AdHoc. SGS2 native = Infra. BB/Other Android phones/tablets cannot work with AdHoc. Everything else can), just get Titanium Backup and freeze "wifi 1.0", "wifi manager" and "wifi sharing".

3G Watchdog PRO has that feature (at least it's got per app data usage stats), and is MUCH better then the free app, trust me. I use it because of the live notification icon, which frees my desktop from needing more widget.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd my battery life is quickly going down the drain, 5 hours of NORMAL usage. Not even SEMI heavy. Something's just awfully wrong here guys.

Sigh.

Time to reflash ROMs eh. Gonna try Villain Full next. See how things work out.
