sorry for a bit of misleading there. i also do believe the ride and feel will be same for the malaysia version. there are 3 different version available in Brunei. low, medium and high but all fully booked. it only cost around RM92k (2.4 version) for high spec if direct convert brunei dollar to riggit

Wow! Tts cheap man!

Fr wat i understand, kia has been trying to shed the "cheap sh*t" image n producing better quality cars. I went to c the k5 again n i find the built quality impressive. Change my perception immediately.
Dun think they r in tt league of producing luxury cars yet. Its a pricing strategy, camry n accord is due for replacement. K5 is a 2010 model. They know once T&H launch, their price will b higher. I believe naza is banking on tt rational.

The paper specs will clearly tell you about the engine performance. From the kerb weight, hp and torque you can easily know just how powerful the car will be in real. Drivability & handling cant be determined by specs and everybody knows that.

Btw, check my earlier replies. I have tested the Kia Optima and i was impressed. Dont forget im a die hard Toyota man so for me to say im impressed speaks volumes bout the Optima.  biggrin.gif

Based on ur initial test drive, which part of the power band would u improve bcoz lacking? Lo, mid or hi.

Fyi, saw a silver k5 on the road today. Wwf plate. Stunning esp wif the bright led drls.

I would improve the low range for sure. Its sluggish from startup but picks up at mid range. So for city driving, the car will consume fuel since most of the travel involves low range acceleration.

Yes the silver is the best of the lot. Looks very stylish and classy. I saw a White Optima in Lahat, Ipoh yesterday also. Many ppl at the restaurant i was in turned and looked as it drove past. It surely has the wow factor.
*
Pretty much a head turner. I personally like the white. Afraid the silver will b a bit boring after a while. But tts me.

For additional power, a bolt on supercharger would b nice n to address the lo end power issue. But theres the risk of the warranty being void.

Does anyone know what is the current interest rate like as in the lowest of course? I heard banks have started to offer below 2.5% but based on amount and tenure.

meaning bank will check us via CTOS & CCRIS prior approval ?
then it'll quite difficult for people like me where my mom & bro used my name to buy a car, loan under my name but monthly payment paid by them.
*
Banks always perform CTOS and CCRIS checks. Tts how they determine your credit risk rating. As far as they are concerned, they only see the borrower as the asset legally belongs to you.

If your monthly debt burden reaches say 40-50% of your income, chances of getting new loans is much slimmer unless you grow your monthly income.

Yup... monthly payment cun... but still can't relate with checking the nett income...
Checking nett income is logic if ur monthly payment appeared in ur salary slip...
If just deduct epf , tax & socso... hmmm...
*
Actually it is the correct way. Gross income is not accurate bcoz technically we all have to pay income taxes and epf. It does not reflect your actual disposable income. You cant get your gross income amount on the dot in your bank acct rite? And you cant use epf or income tax money to pay off car loans. Epf for housing loans is allowed but depends on your available balance in Account 2. That also is subject to your discretion if you decide to utilise it.

that's why i doubt about optima comfort...
want handling sacrifice comfort, want comfort sacrifice handling...
hmmm... how long ur pants...? mine is 38"... some people say i have short leg & tall body... maybe it's true coz my shirt all XL / XXL one...
if ur body tall than ur leg then need lean back more...?
*
I juz sat at the back seat in the showroom today. Headroom may feel a bit low but is not tt bad to the extent of being claustrophobic (partly I dun hav much hair left). I m 182cm tall n the legroom is fantastic (for camparison my pants length is 41", means you got a lot of legs mate, lol).

The seats feel quite leaned back. I agree with gregy on the mazda 3 n 6 back seat headroom, feels like sitting in a low ceiling store room.

Yes i too didnt have any problems sitting in the rear of the Optima (and believe me ive spent alot of time sitting in all seats). Im 180cm tall. But i think the problem with Epo is that he didnt sit as how a normal person would sit in a moving car. He probably sat too upright which isnt the case when the car is in motion. Ull tend to move forward a little.

The Mazda3 and the Altis has the worst rear leg & headroom among most comparable cars. The Optima is far better.
*
Ya man. Totally agree.

Latest news i got the is first batch of 2012 is on the way. Leaving/left korea oredi.

Yes as i said before, all those getting their cars this monh onwards will be getting 2012 models. Thats why i never believe all these salesmen crap talk when they trying to push the old stock. They will always say current year models coming out late bla bla bla. All crap just to push their own sales.
*
Well, wat is new. How many ppl dun care bout 2011 or 2012 stock? Honestly not many lo. A lot of showrooms in the bigger dealers hav n average of 2 units 2011 to clear.

Well if the discounts for 2011 cars are good then no matter. But in the Kia Optima case, they were selling the 2011 models at full price. Thats like a rip off especially for buyers who dont realise the difference between year of manufacture and year of registration.
*
Kiasu syndrome. Eventually they ll hav to let go at a discounted price. Capital tie up sets in, time to cut losses. Now juz fishing for waterfish.

Ya man! After considering so many cars in this segment, its a good all rounder n i got this tendency to drive the car hard. Suits me.

The other car i was considering but not in this segment is the VW Jetta. Good engine, handling and driving dynamics. Unfortunately cannot stand the interior n pricey considering its got nothing much in terms of gadget.

Honestly, buy a the car suits you and your needs. Not what the rakyat thinks.

I believe this has more to do with Naza rather than Kia

Yes mate. Its their doing alrite. I believe its "Just take the car. If you dont, jangan harap any stocks after this." Probably it something like this along the lines.

Exterior wise is nice but the interior is totally...... Bland!

Its hard to accept bcoz we spend time in the cabin n it looks like tt. Good built quality but spartan.

Its normal guys. Lets be real. There is no perfect car. Brand loyalty make us look the other way when theres issues unless its beyond unbearable.

German built quality have always been the benchmark. Japs r slowly losing it. My civic has been recalled twice. Reliable?

Since the topic of plate number has been touched, does anyone know how fast are the plate numbers being issued for KL? For example, WWH to WWJ (1 week? 2 weeks?)

I saw WWG on road. Havent bump into WWH yet. Honestly, looks like its ridiculously fast! Its Like 4-5 alphabets in 1 month! Yes?

Petronas has 4 types of oil: Fully synthetic has got 2 types and 1 each for semi and mineral.
*
Looks like naza has a bulk purchase wif petronas. I know the Pugs are also using Petronas. Not sure bout chevy though.

Engine oil also play an important role in performance besides upkeep. Honestly i dont think petronas oil is tt good based on my butt feel. Petrol yes. Oil no. Ok onli. But then again its a mid range brand.

Dyno has shown tt usage of differrent grade/quality oil (same viscosity) can improve +1 to 1.5 whp based on same car.

yup that 4 for open markets... for kia SC they're using 2 types only...
5w-30 4L for fully syn... for mineral forgot the specs...
my next change want to try MoS2 Leichtlauf - 10W30 - 4L
*
How flexible are the sc in terms of allowing customers to bring in own oil? I assume your car is still under warranty?

I can recommend a few brands tt is really worthwhile trying out n it wont disappoint based on my experience. Motul n Torco. Both r really good.

Aiksei! How i wish they would allow. No offence to petronas but there is much better oil out there. Actually all sc are like tt.

Even if they insist on Petronas, i can easily get cheaper Petronas engine oil outside.
*
SC prices we all know is marked up or how to pay their staff salary.

Juz wished they hav a guideline where better oil can be brought in wif a small surcharge. I think thats fair.

the biggest problem is the feel, cvt's with torque converters feel like driving a rubberband, you rev and wait and wait and wait then it moves.

once it moves you think you;re driving a scooter, because the engine stays at the same revs constantly buzzing and droning away.
*
I m not use to driving a cvt. Dont own one but have driven one. I notice it doesnt favour heavy footed fellas. Its tt eerie feeling when you floor the pedal and the revs hold at a hi rpm. As if its gonna blow!
