Yes. But that method never worked on me. Always got error regarding this USB thingy...
So what I did is as quoted below... QUOTE(apis_jay @ Mar 9 2011, 01:31 AM) Use PB99IMG.zip method. My phone was bricked before and I use this method. Actually is quite easy too. Make sure use RUU mention at first page or RUU_Bravo_Froyo_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.13.707.1_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_143921_signed - for Asia set.It can be simplified by these steps: 1. Extract ROM.zip from RUU 2. Rename to PB99IMG.zip 3. Copy to SD card. 4. Boot in Bootloader/HBOOT. *It will scan required zip if is available in SD card. 5. Follow further instruction on the phone. When is done, your phone will be back to stock ROM. IF you already updated to OFFICIAL HTC GINGERBREAD, I believe the method above and running RUU is not valid (for time being). However, you can check at xda development forum for the latest update.. This post has been edited by apis_jay: Aug 11 2011, 07:31 AM |

Finally Desire user can get S-OFF on new Gingerbread RUU via Revolutionary.
Thanks to unrevoked and alpharev. Check this:http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/revolutionary Protip: This only give S-OFF not root. Therefore, check the link above for instruction regarding installing root. This post has been edited by apis_jay: Aug 15 2011, 07:05 AM |

I'm using MyBackup *Root*, works like charm. Normally I would restore Call Log, SMSs/MMSs, Contacts and few essential apps like Papago and Better Keyboard.
One thing when restoring Contact, I found out the contacts is not restored unless you log-in thru your Google account first... |

QUOTE(ShinnKQ @ Sep 4 2011, 10:30 PM) I had a problem with STORAGE. From my understanding is Titanium Backup allows backing up APKs and APK data (even in sd-ext/EXT partition) into sdcard/on-line storage (paid version). Other than that, the app is pretty much the same like other back-up app which can backing up SMS/MMS, call logs, contacts and etc...Got pissed and couldn't fix aside from fresh reinstalling 1 by 1 via APK and there's hundreds of them lol. Oh well It keeps them in apk's and re-installs them like new ? (Excl data ofc) Btw, I'm not a fan of titanium backup.. I prefer MyBackup *root*... |

Once you convert to custom ROM, you won't be bothered about official ROM/update.
For me, I never regret rooting my Desire... Even bricked once my LCD... |

QUOTE(albnok @ Sep 9 2011, 12:06 AM) I am an Android app developer. Maybe depends on market version? I'm using 2.3.6 (market version) can still see the Astro app. Btw, I'm using MIUI Au (2.3.5 gingerbread too)I have a user complaining that his HTC Desire HD was on 2.3.3 and can install, then when upgrade to 2.3.5, the app is gone. The app in question is here: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.measat.astro.epg The app's filters are: - must have touchscreen (so Google TV cannot use this app) - must be able to get Internet connectivity (WiFi tablets can see this app) - Android 1.5 and above (no maximum version is set) - small, normal, large and xlarge screens (small = Wildfire; large = 5-7", xlarge = 8.9" and above) - no phones excluded (you can manually filter phones) - all countries supported - copy protection is OFF (it was ON before - meaning you cannot move the app to SD, and cannot install it on a Developer Phone or an Unreleased Phone) So now I am wondering if these 2.3.5 ROMs floating around are meant for a Developer Phone like the Nexus One or Nexus S. I'm rooted and am on CM 7.1.0 RC1 which is 2.3.4, and I can see the app just fine. So I'm wondering what the heck is it with 2.3.5 - somebody else on CM 7.1.0 RC1 on a HTC Desire says his version is 2.3.5! Does your Settings - About phone - Model number say HTC Desire, or something else? Also, there is NOTHING on http://developer.android.com about 2.3.5 - as far as Google is concerned, 2.3.5 doesn't exist. Who made this 2.3.5? I could upgrade my HTC Desire to a CM nightly on 2.3.5 but there is a risk that I will not be able to see all apps, because of the same mysterious problem! Have he tried cleared cache & data from Market application setting? About android version, I'm not try to mock/disgrace the developers but those android version can be easily edit in /system/build.prop. (FYI, this is just assumption. I never try to edit nor adjust the build.prop setting) |

Care to state your custom ROM? (if using one)
If you still on Froyo, I suggest that you upgrade to Gingerbread. Feel much snappier and better signal reception. |

QUOTE(zamanjaafar @ Sep 25 2011, 04:02 PM) hey there, im on cm 7.1 rc1 I'm using latest MIUI Au on CM7r2 hboot without any problem. Even though it is not OFFICIALLY support by the dev. thinking of upgrade to either miui-au or miui-xj, but leaning more towards xj because of them supporting cm7r2 hboot may i know what rom you were on before? And was there problems when backing up/restore apps from your old rom to miui? also what is the miui-xj variant are you using? (a2sd or dw or xpart) |

My suggestion is to read and understand everything related to rooting stuffs. That's the main point.
You can disregard this suggestion but in the end you will suffer if something bad happen to the phone. anyway, If you still have Froyo (2.2), you still can use unrevok3d method. This the easiest method to root. Plus it will installed Clockworkmod recovery. *This still S-ON* If you already updated to Gingerbread (2.3), use revolutionary tool. But this only give 'root' and S-OFF. This method you have to push 'recovery' via fastboot after getting S-OFF.. p/s: correct me if I'm wrong. |

I found EXT4 recovery is very useful for me because can perfectly align my SD partition include the Ext partition.
But my favourite is the RMD recovery by m0narx because it was based on Amon Ra. |

AFAIK, when S-OFF, HBOOT version change to 0.93.002.
Check your phone first at Bootloader screen whether already S-OFF or not.. Second row from top (will show S-ON or S-OFF) |
