Hi All,
I'm new to Andriod and just bought a HTC Sensation on 23June with Maxis on 1.5G data plan.
The phone was great until late last week, Thurs, i started having following problems until today, I hope someone can help me.
1) When I on my data connection, sometimes it does not run. (even after a few times on and off the data plan)
I noticed this problem tend to happen when I on the data, did some FB/news/whatsapp and then let the phone on idle....
or when i go into lift or out the basement carpark
2) My apps shortcut icons on widget not showing the Original apps picture but the Andriod standard icon.
Noticed this happen after i moved my apps from phone to SD Card... This does not happen to my fren who is using HTC Desire.
At 1st the apps still can run although with Andriod icon pic, then the next day (after few restart and on/off) all the apps missing....
I went back to Markets and it is as is the apps have never been downloaded before. So I hv redownloaded a few back and it seems the "memory" is still kept somewhere in my phone. Eg: i played my angry bird until certain level, or my notes on my colornotes is still appearing after that.
In this case, does it means i only hv 1G space (space on phone) for my apps that i d/l from Market?
3) My phone seems to "auto-restart"...means.. When my phone wakes up from idle, eg: to make a phone call/sms/to do anything, it asks me to key in my Sim card pin...and i hv to key in and the phone seems to load the sim and start up apps....anyone encounter this? It is reallly annoying...coz it will mean my fon was actually not "on" and ppl telling me my line cannot get through...or sms dont come in.
4) Battery life: I read through previous messages posted here, just would like to confirm it's normal as my phone needs to be charged for more than 4hours..like 6hours to reach 100% from <15% most of the time (seems quite fast reach 70++% and from 70-100% takes almost the same time as it takes to reach 70++%)....and not to mention, battery can only last <8hours with light FB, maybe total of 1hour on whatsapp with data.
5) Noticed my memory is always on the high side about 100++MB left. Is this normal?
6) Volume button when I remove the back casing seems to be "loose" as there is 'sound' when i shake the back cover... It this normal?

1. data connection might be caused by the network itself.. im on Maxis data too where at open areas im getting good speeds but in building and where u mention basement carpark, eventhough there is GSM signal, data might not be available since the signals are not as penetrative compared to GSM signals.. if u want to try resolve it, toggle on off data or toggle air plane mode on off to force phone check for signal.. rebooting does not help much but last resolve if ur in emergency need to use on that spot.. most likely caused by ur position where signal is weak i guess..
2. why move? i guess 1GB app space is A LOT already cuz major big games or apps will auto have apps2sd.. when ur moving it manually, some shortcut might dissapear and if that particular app does not fully support or stable with that feature, error will happen. This is resolve by using a partitioned SDcard but u must have a ROM supporting apps2SD where u can set how much as u want App storage space but saved in SD card.. means it will not touch ur internal memory at all.. but that is used in classic system based phones like Nexus One, HTC Desire where their internal memory has only around 200-220MB space only.. Try not to move ur apps and leave it as it is.. Yes, it means 1GB space for apps u delete on market but u will survive it surely. 1GB is HUGE! and u wont be downloading too much apps as so much might cause phone sluggish in case u install all those service based apps which runs in background
3. Never happened to me.. try off phone.. take out simcard and replace it.. clean2 a bit cuz might due to ur sim (just guessing).. never happened on mine but im not using any locking btw..
4. That is normal for that charging procedure.. i can say ur battery is fine based on the figures u gave.. about battery life, it seems like ur constantly on Data isnt it? Data connectivity will KILL ANY BATTERY.. u can compare battery life of a user with data connection always on with a user which only use wifi and a user which seldomly connected to internet and rely on wifi only at home or open wifi places.. Not much u can do except try to reduce update intervals such as email checking and etc. I can say most phones i use battery will drain up to 1% every minute when on data connection, and its worse if ur place the data connection is weak as the phone need to work harder to get signal and etc
5. RAM are meant to be utilized. The more free ram u see is actually "wasted" ram from what i read. If it goes down left until 25-30MB it will auto kill ur last recent opened to "recycle" back RAM.. avoid using task killer and dont worry much about ur RAM unless ur phone suddenly gets damn sluggish then u check at task manager to see what is causing it... i checked mine and suddenly i saw tweetdeck goes crazy having up to 50MB! i killed tweetdeck from the htc task manager and the phone became normal again.. the android system goes crazy when an app missbehave or not using the allocated memory properly.. Sensation is overlayed with HTC Sense which is the heaviest UI known in android but still it managed to function well. An update will come very soon and hopefully it will improve sense 3.0 overall
6. Dosent happen on mine.. wait for other ppl to give their own saying regarding this

guys, u all install app/game to internal memory or memory card?
i install app/game in memory card, and will create shortcut to 'desktop'... sometime if i restart the phone the all shortcut that install at memory card the icon will change to android robot icon. i need to remove the shortcut and add it back it only got show icon for each app/software.....
why?
just install it normally and dun be move it anyway is my advice.. yes that problem has a high possibility to happen if u move apps to SD.. but it also happens if u install in internal too.. no exception but lower possibility.. ive seen this issue happen on multiple phones and on multiple ROMS.. this is not a unique issue.. quite normal
