How do I check if it's enabled?

Yes, the HDD supports USB 3.0.
I tried transferring a single .avi file of 4.2GB. The speed obtained was about 35MB/s.

But if I transfer the file from the HDD to my laptop, then I get 75MB/s.

From laptop to HDD, 35MB/s.

From HDD to laptop, 75MB/s.

The DV6 cannot support fast USB 3.0?  sweat.gif

Could it be that your external HD write speed limit the overall transfer speed?

That's the USB 3.0 speed transfer from external HD to SSD, right?

I think it's the HDD.

I'm using WD My Passport Essential by the way.
*
I just tested mine. It can go to 65MB/sec from laptop to external using WD My Passport.
You could try to transfer a single large file to check whether a higher transfer speed can be achieve or not.
If nothing works, maybe you should try to reinstall your USB 3.0 controller's driver.

Edit: correcting spelling

*
The Beats Headphone comes bundled with the laptop at that price. However the new RSP for 6001TX is RM 3499.00

I think it's aluminium, but when I knock on it, it sounded like "plastic".
I can only confirm that the air outlet grill is made of aluminium. sweat.gif

Added on August 2, 2011, 4:07 amOh right.. first i thought i wanted to check the serial number on that i7 to confirm that it is stepping B3 but as u can see on the pictar, there is nothing inscribed on that die. sweat.gif

From the manual, seems like need to remove a lot of things. Do you need to remove the front cover and the keyboard to gain access to the processor and the heatsink? If i just remove the back plate and back cover, would it be enough?

To confirm whether your chipset is B3 or not, try download HWinfo64 and see whether it reveal the chipset version of your laptop. It confirm mine.

That's a bit too much of dissambly. I can dissamble it but I can't say I can reassemble it again...
Just wish it was built for easy access like my old Inspiron 1420, just 15 minute and walla, thermal paste application complete.

I just checked using HP assistant, but din get any BIOS updates?
*
Direct download from the website.
You have to enter the BIOS to switch the Graphic option to fixed mode.
Someone tested it and said that Photoshop can recognised the presence of 6770M, while another user can play Minecraft at 90fps.
Will update mine this weekend.

Fixed mode is that you forced the laptop to use only radeon right? Cannot switch in-between right?
*
I think fixed mode is that you choose which graphic card to use and it will stay on until you decide to change to another graphic card, just like manual switching.
The caveat is you have close all application that utilising the previous graphic card before you initiate a switch and the screen will blink/turn dark for a few seconds during switching.

Hmm.... but it is enabled in the BIOS settings.... Efalex, you trying? If you do, please list the steps when done testing can? Last time i tried to get the action keys disabled took me 1 hours + coz i cannot get to the bios page.... now forgot how to go already....  icon_question.gif

Will try this Sunday. Laptop, no time to on now. Remember to plug in your battery and power supply together when flashing BIOS.
To enter BIOS, just do as what Acid said.
If you think you have change something you're not suppose to, just exit without saving.

Now the question is will enable auto switching in the 6001TX??

junkieG, can you tell me when in BIOS, what i have to do to get the switching done?
One more, do you plugged in the battery when you update the BIOS? Coz i heard from other members mentioned that you need plug in the battery when upgrading BIOS....
*
The battery is just a precaution. If any power outage happen during the BIOS flashing, your laptop will turn up dead. You don't want a 15.6" paper weight, right?
I'm not sure if HP's laptop allow it,but Dell's laptop will require plugged in battery for BIOS update or it won't update it.

oooo..... okok, you cleared my doubts. Thanks!

Just done update the new BIOS and I'm happy to report that it works. We now can choose to have either Manual or Auto switching within the same laptop.

To enable the switching method, enter the BIOS by spamming F10 during start up.
Under the configuration tab, the fifth option (below the "Action Key" option) named "Switchable Graphic", select Fixed for manual switching or Dynamic for auto switching.

Dynamic will remember the previous setting while Fixed will allow you to choose which graphic card to run.
Caveat: For Fixed (Manual) Switching, remember to close all application like browser, game, office application, communication program (especially MSN) et cetera before you switch graphic.

Can't wait any longer. Just start the laptop and apply the update. Then do some WEI test to see for improvement...

QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Aug 3 2011, 10:29 PM)
I don't think so.

The link on the BIOS update is wrong...
I think you can delete some link to the statement on DV6's graphic problem since it's being solved.

Try a different brand of DVD blank disc first, preferably Mitsubishi, Imation or Sony.
If you still experiencing problems, then try to burn something file a blank disc to ensure your DVD burner is working.
Lastly, you could try creating recovery media using an external DVD burner.

Add: WOW, your 6001TX got Blu-Ray too.. tongue.gif
