Girls, I need a little bit help about the determining ring sizes. You see, I just reached 19th yesterday and my boyfriend is being so sweet and wanted to give me a white gold ring as a birthday gift. I'm a little confused about my ring size. Usually, I tried various rings to know my size but we're miles apart. He's in Kl while I'm in Sabah. He wants to buy one at Poh Kong or Tomei.

Yea, white gold and platinum are two different things.
TS, try looking online and see what measurements they use. Alternatively, just use a string to measure the diameter of your finger and give that to your bf. He can easily give it to the jewelry shop salesperson to find the right size for you. |

different goldshop using different measurement ( Us/Canada, Uk/AUSIE, China/Jpan, switzerland) in Malaysia.
to be safe, if there are poh kong or tomei, go there to measure and let your bf knows about it (provided he is getting from poh kong or tomei) a lot of promoters will says it is the same, but I personally measures at different gold shop and they all happen to be different measurements even they mention they are using the same standard. Not all of promoter aware or been train properly. |

I am not sure how urgent is this but strings tend to 'run' in its dimension. I dont really trust the circumfrence made by the string.
A way that you can do. Buy a bloody cheap ring which fits you nicely...send that ring to your guy. Get him to get the ring to the shop and they have this rod shaped measuring tool. They just put ring into the rod, you will get the size. To add, there is white gold, yellow gold, rose gold and platinum. 1) Platinum is the most expensive because it consist of only one type of metal. I forgot what is the name of the metal. Did not add anything in to change its colour, characteristic or properties. The 'in' for jewellery but I personally thnk that it has no re-selling price. 2) Yellow gold is also consist of only one type of metal. Pure yellow gold has no additives and softer. 3) White gold is a bleached yellow gold. Because yellow gold itself is soft, other material has to be added in to strengthen it. 4) Rose gold is white gold with additive colours. These are some stuff that the ring designer told me...hope it clarifies doubts. |

instead of using string, use paper instead. as it's wider it's easier to manage, and the extra width makes it easier to mark exactly where the two ends will meet.

Ring sizes are the same but they are numbered/labeled differently so be careful when you choose your size. For example, US size 9 is equal to Brazilian size 9, HK size 11. There is a chart at the bottom of this page https://qooru.com/product/classic-1-carat-6mm-zircon-ring/
