Anyone here thinks that MYTV abruptly move RTM channels to another mux without informing the public beforehand, is seriously an unwise thing to do? MYTV expects that the public would assume that when RTM channels goes no signal, is an April Fool joke, cuz so happen it falls on 1 April 2019?

And, do you think that MYTV box users to require user to enter PIN (default 0000) to access to "Auto Tuning" in case there is any frequency retune exercise, is a stupid and dumb thing to implement?
Why is it so secretive for MYTV to allow user to retune their MYTV STBs till the point need to enter PIN? Even the usual TV sets don't necessarily need to enter PIN to access Auto/Manual Tuning menu.
They don't want people to simply mess around the frequency stuff? Their frequency stuff very confidential meh? They expect the kids would mess around the settings, is it? If the STB can auto update itself, then it's okay. But, can't auto update, need PIN to retune, and I don't remember I set any PIN before on the MYTV box, even the default PIN is 0000, and if I am a person who is not good in technology, I will sure get frustrated and find that this MYTV box is a piece of trash.
Seriously I don't see the need for them to do that. This will only trouble the users when MYTV boxes itself can't even auto update the channel list, like Astro, but requires viewers to enter PIN to get back the channels that went missing. Yet, MYTV still "forces/encourages" the public to use their own MYTV digital TV STB, as if they think their MYTV box is world class standard dry.gif

Now you see what happen?

RTM inform viewers to retune their MYTV boxes AFTER they abruptly moved all their channels to another mux/frequency overnight without informing viewers beforehand on any frequency retuning exercise, leaving viewers goes wonder how come RTM channels suddenly goes No Signal. Yes, they do inform the public that RTM channels will go HD from 1 Apr, but they did not inform that there will be a change of TV frequency. And then, still "teach" viewers to enter PIN "0000" to access Auto Tuning menu after they changed frequency.  doh.gif  doh.gif
I wonder is it because RTM last minute realise that there is sudden drop in viewership on that day, so that's why they find it necessary for them to educate viewers now to retune their sets like this. Terrible.

Not yet finish. MYTV informs the public to retune their MYTV boxes 1 day after (2 April) the frequency being changed??? Wahh, they wait until the viewers goes wild and lost when RTM channels on digital TV goes No Signal, and then the public kept contacting MYTV customer service on the issue, be in on social media like Facebook or customer service hotline, then only want to inform the public to retune one day later? What the heck? Why this MYTV Broadcasting so smart one? furious.gif
https://facebook.com/mytvbroadcasting/posts/2390814057603770

Another problem now is many viewers out there seems that they couldn't get any signal from the second mux (Klang Valley: 698MHz). Some say is antenna issue, some say is the transmitter for the second mux is not as powerful as the first mux (Klang Valey: 666MHz).  I wonder how MYTV would seriously address and provide clear detail explanation on this issue to the public and MYTV viewers.

It's good to see that RTM has all of its channels in HD now, but in terms of how it affects the viewers on the implementation is seriously considered badly managed by MYTV.

Not having autoupdate on their decoder itself is already a bad move. They expect everyone especially those who are not tech educated to be able to perform retune everytime.

What about their Tech savvy son/ family members who programs their grandparents MYTV box and they live far away from their grandparents( for example, their grandparents lives in Ipoh, their tech savvy family members lives in KL and only goes back like every few months/ CNY, Christmas, etc)?

That’s going to be very inconvenient when the MYTV box doesn’t feature the auto retuning feature ( on their basic and advance box)
*
Hence I said not having the feature is a total failure of MYTV. The box should be working out of the box with very minimum setup.

How does this compare with Astro "HD"?
*
QUOTE(truelife @ Apr 15 2019, 02:03 PM)
HD channels in Astro have better image quality than HD channels in MYTV platform. Besides that, audio in Astro HD channels is exactly Dolby Digital 5.1 surround quality, while audio quality in MYTV channels is really poor if you have a 5.1 home theater setup. I am not sure about the current bitrate in Astro HD channels. Someone posted the information before.
*
Cannot compare both, since one is free one is paid subscription, and Astro has the money to invest in all possible best tech that is available where MYTV is still a new born child.

If MYTV wasn't paid with single cent, how to survive? 😂 MYTV seems very rich and generous to give free decoder, free installation and free channels but  ends up sued by Green Packet SDN and complaints from public and MCMC.

I agree that to compare Astro and MYTV is unreasonable, how about MYTV with NJOI?
*
I don't want to comment much about how or who funded it. But the free decoder, like it or not gov also cannot force all ppl to spend money just because it want to switch to digital. Some may have sold the decoder, some very hard core poor may find it helpful especially when they have to spend over RM100 for a decoder on an old TV. There may be some flaw from the distribution of free decoder obviously. It's also a shame they cannot met ASO timeframe and still have unstability issue. I would expect by now MYTV is stable with good coverage nationwide, although not having good HD quality.

MYTV and NJOI also not comparable. NJOI is just Astro saying "look, we give you free TV". It's Just like how our telcos give free basic internet. Astro already earn a lot from the amount it collected way back from the 90's from all Malaysian.

For household with broadband, IPTV will be the best. Household without broadband, get NJOI. end of story. MYTV is gonna be performing badly as of now. The expectation here is asalkan ada, cukuplah.

Thank you for sharing this man. I can see that the post offices employees felt so frustrated on too many "unclaimed parcel".

DAMN, these words are so much burn  devil.gif  devil.gif

If what the headman claim is true, that the TV box malfunction, that is even worst... But part of it I believe is due to unable to get signal. So have free decoder, but no signal, it is better they continue watching on C-band.

I wonder how would this affect users who don’t use MYTV decoders..... specifically users who brought their DVB-T2 box from Lazada, shopee, etc
*
Nothing happen. At most they just encrypt the channel so that only original Mytv decoder can watch. Most antenna doesnt disrupt others frequency.

i got 2 decoder, both using the same digital antenna, 1 cap ayam decoder and the other 1 is official mytv decoder. cap ayam is having problem receiving signal from the tower, meanwhile mytv no problem receiving signal from the tower, both using the same antenna, placed at the same location.

Yes this is one example. But as time goes by someone will be able to crack the encryption.

Correct. If MYTV provide encrypted premium channels (like Singapore) such as HBO, Hulu, Cinemax, sports etc which requires monthly payment with attractive lower price than astro, that would make encryption sounds reasonable.
*
The fact that their decoder support Irdeto encryption already speaks volume about channel encryption.

some includes HDMI. Like the greenpacket one, it has HDMI port but it doesn't include HDMI cable.

So previously someone said the free decoder has no VOD/online access, that's not true anymore?

Any way to quickly identify which direction to point the antenna of MyTv? in Kuching and the transmission should be at Serapi.

Okay, so Malaysian analogue TV is officially ends nationwide. Now is fully in digital.
So how the digital TV channels comes to your TV screen via DTT? Here's the answer:

MYTV Broadcasting uses C band satellite as a backhaul/backbone to distribute its channels, from satellite to the main digital TV transmitters.
The satellite is called ABS 2, which located at the orbital position of 75 °E.

What? What are you thinking? Want to try receive it, right?  lol.gif
You need a parabolic satellite dish as big as 10 feet (3 metres) to be able to get signal. Not a chance even for 7.5 feet or 6 feet dish...
In comparison, Astro and/or MYTV satellite dish used at consumer homes is 65cm (0.65 metres or 2.1 feet) in size.

Unless you want to spend thousands over ringgit to make your house similar to Measat Satellite Broadcast and Teleport Centre which has gigantic satellite dishes in the satellite dish farm, and your neighbours and passerby thinking that you're trying to hack on Russian satellites (I watch too much action movies la seriously), then I think you might as well settle it with a UHF antenna, or get the MYTV hybrid box for the installer to use 65cm MYTV satellite dish to receive the channels from Asiasat 9 Ku band satellite.

According to the source, all channels are currently free to air on ABS 2 C band, not sure how long will it be. But then, 10ft dish to receive around 15 Malaysian TV channels at your home is kinda..... errrgh.... So good luck trying.  tongue.gif

Good info, thank you.
Btw I think it Is a good time to start v2, to mark the country ASO and also to put in as much info on the first page so that it's easier for people to get to know this DTV.
