Even RTM SPORTS has lower bitrate than in the past. (However still higher than TV3) RTM, MYTV and Media Prima all in question.

However this will render most tuners in the market useless.

Reception of TV signals will be possible via existing tuners, however the TV tuner will only receive audio part (AAC/E-AC3/HE-AAC V2) but not the video part (HEVC) if HEVC codec is to be used. This is a problem in some countries when they switches from DVB-T MPEG 2 to DVB-T2 HEVC format (particularly Germany and Netherlands). TV sets (especially older ones) sold are supporting DVB-T2/H.264 only. (However, HEVC support is gradually introduced to newer 4K TVs sold in the market.) When Astro introduced UHD transmission, new set top boxes supporting HEVC will be needed despite they are using the same DVB-S2 which their HD channels use. There is no/little HEVC support on legacy TV meaning set top boxes supporting HEVC decoding will be required.

Dtv is a very fundamental communication framework and at is core, is government initiative, which is just being rendered available through mytv.
Even if mytv gone the project goes on. Doesnt matter if tm or astro or other company pick up. It will be materialized, be available free of charge, and still regulated by gov, and is going to serve its purpose to provide freeview after analog shutdown.

MYTV DALAM USAHA SELESAI PERTIKAIAN

PETALING JAYA, 2 November 2018 – MYTV Broadcasting Sdn Bhd (MYTV) meminta campurtangan Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia (SKMM) dalam usaha menyelesaikan pertikaian dengan Telekom Malaysia Berhad ™.

MYTV sedang bekerjasama dengan TM untuk mencari jalan penyelesaian bagi memastikan kesinambungan perkhidmatan Televisyen Terestrial Digital (DTT) dan MYTV telah bersetuju untuk memenuhi tanggungjawabnya menjelang penutupan siaran analog (ASO) yang direncanakan pada suku pertama 2019, meski berdepan pindaan terma konsesi yang sedang dimuktamadkan oleh Kerajaan.

Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif MYTV, Michael Chan berkata, dalam tempoh siaran ujian DTT ketika ini, pemegang lesen Content Applications Service Providers (CASP) tidak dikenakan bayaran sehinggalah tarikh rasmi ASO ditentukan oleh Kerajaan. Sementara itu, semua pihak penyiar masih dikenakan bayaran oleh TM untuk perkhidmatan transmisi analog.

“Kami turut memohon TM agar menarik balik penggantungan perkhidmatan serta-merta agar rakyat dapat terus menikmati perkhidmatan tersebut sehingga pengumuman tarikh rasmi ASO dibuat oleh Kerajaan,” kata Michael.
Michael turut menambah, MYTV kekal komited untuk mencapai sasaran Kerajaan bagi menghijrahkan transmisi televisyen analog kepada digital di bawah Projek Pendigitalan Penyiaran Nasional. Setakat ini, MYTV telah melaburkan lebih daripada RM400 juta dalam projek nasional tersebut dan akan terus mengeluarkan pelaburan ke arah mencapai ASO.

Setekat ini, terdapat 34 menara transmisi DTT meliputi 92.7 peratus daripada populasi di seluruh negara.

“Sejajar dengan peralihan digital di rantau ASEAN, kami sedang mempercepatkan penghijrahan analog ke digital dengan perlaksanaan perkhidmatan Direct-To-Home (DTH) bagi meningkatkan liputan di seluruh negara sebelum peralihan digital nanti,” ujar Michael.

Already passed midnight but signal is still up (at the point of writing).

Tried build this antenna, still failed to get digital tv signal. My living room is like panic room. no mobile signal or anything. hahaha. so i cannot use any kind of indoor antenna.

whats left is the to adjust the antenna to vertical alignment. if this failed, I guest I have to apply for NJOI. huhu.

Picture quality downgrade has been over a week, not just 2 days ago.

Or maybe squeezing even more low picture quality DTT channels/ HD upgrade for some channels (again low bitrate) in the already full multiplex?

No way fed government would allowed it..

best I think TM taking over MYTV operations...

The DTTV contract was a gamble, put your money up first to build the network and then collect revenue and later profit from the television channels. MYTV messed up by taking way to long to roll out the network. It is a difficult project building new transmitters on mountain tops, but they knew that before bidding. I have not heard anything on why they are so delayed.
