Most ppl are aware here, electrical shops selling TVs has Digital TV booklet (provided by IMDA regulatory body here) are seen everywhere, placed next to the TVs and most sets alrdy have T2 tuners. Also, MediaCorp chs also run trailers on air explaining the switch over. Hopefully, the switch off dun get delayed. The analogue bandwidth can be put to better use like improving mobile signals or other needs. smile.gif

Any interesting channels to watch so far? I am not convince to buy the stb for digital tv if all I can see are those typical channels.
Unless staying near our neighbor country there is no way we can get their channels using this DT2 decoder.
*
Like I said, it is still in testing phase. So it will be simulcast from analogue channels for now.

They plan to launch more channels once digital TV is officially launch.

The 2 transmitters at 666 MHz and 698 MHz work fine. Only 682 MHz has no signal now.

If I'm not mistaken for Klang Valley towers:
666MHz Gunung Ulu Kali (at Genting Highlands)
682MHz Bukit Sg. Besi
698MHz KL Tower

Oh. I see. I didn't know that they can transmit same frequencies even from different transmitters and locations cuz I thought interference will occur?

Sorry for the wrong info. truelife say 3 transmitters transmits all 3 dame frequencies.

So it may not be necessarily is Sungai Besi Tower problem.

Since they're still testing, anything can happen.

Somewhere between Q3 2017 to June 2018.
Gov said 1 June 2018 will be the date of analogue switch off.

Johor Bahru and Singapore viewers watching Malaysian digital TV channels, read this.

https://www.facebook.com/notes/mytv-broadca...12882578730260/

Gunung Pulai transmitter will go off air starting everyday from 8 May till 13 May 2017 at 9am to 6pm daily due to maintainence works. You can still continue watching Malaysia digital TV channels outside this period, or temporarily watch from other nearby transmitter such as Gunung Ledang, or watch it from analogue TV.

Well......rumour has it.....Media Prima is currently testing bitrate stuff.....need to find out the extreme lowest limit for its digital broadcast.

Bandwidth based billing agreement between content provider (media prima) and broadcast provider (mytv) instead of fixed RM12m for SD and RM25m for HD.

So, everyone can give up on getting media prima HD channel on MYTV platform. Probably only TV3 will be broadcasted in HD (not so 'HD') while the rest in super blurry + blocky SD.

No comment about that. We will just have to wait till digital TV is officially launch in Malaysia.

"GM" meaning?

I have no idea about that... I think it's just a reference for the broadcasters, but I'm not sure what does it means to us though....

Is it that special antenna is required to digital broadcast for all the bolehland free air channels?
*
No. You can use your existing antenna to receive digital TV signals. Do note that Malaysia will be using only UHF band for digital TV. VHF band won't be used for TV broadcast anymore once analogue TV switch-off on June 2018 (our gov plans to make it happen on that date).

So, to get the best signal reception, make sure you are using a UHF antenna. VHF antenna also can, but signal reception won't be as good as UHF ones.

In general, remember that the job for TV antenna is just to receive signals only. It doesn't matter if you are receiving analogue or digital TV, SD channel or HD channel. There are no such thing; don't get fooled by those antennas that stated "DVB-T2 ready" or "Full HD ready" antennas. The only such thing is UHF antenna or VHF antenna.

But of course, make sure your digital TV receiver or TV's built-in digital TV tuner supports DVB-T2. If it is only DVB-T, then unfortunately you will have to buy a digital TV receiver set-top-box.

But funny thing is that, can receive full range of tv channels from lion city but cannot even receive a single channel from bolehland. The tv is having dvb-t2 receiver.
*
Are you using indoor or outdoor antenna? It seems that it is due to your antenna position? And did you use any signal booster?
Assuming that you are staying in Johor Bahru or southern Johor area, you need to align your antenna to Gunung Pulai tower, not towards Singapore.

Outdoor one.

The position never change since it is always positioned to receive bolehland analogue tv.

But the funny thing is that no digital channels can be received from bolehland.
*
Have you done auto scan?
If you want to Manual Search, try 682MHz. This frequency is from Gunung Pulai digital TV transmitter tower.

I had done a full range scan and no channel can be found. There are so many bolehland free air channels available, it is not possible to miss at all.

My house has no issue. I can receive both.

Only m parent house has this issue.

Therefore, I am suspecting is it due to the antenna.
*
Then it is the antenna issue. Try aligning your antenna.

I want to know if 'booster' will help the digital TV signal reception?
*
Unlike analogue TV, signal boosters are not necessary for digital TV. So, don't use any signal boosters to receive digital TV channels, as "overload signal" (receive too much signal) may occur, resulting you not able to watch the channels at all (it will appear as No Signal).

Use signal booster for digital TV ONLY if you are desperate and unable to receive digital TV signals at all, even that you've tried to replaced new indoor or outdoor antennas with new cabling, or perhaps there's a hill or mountain or harsh terrains that makes TV reception difficult to receive. Otherwise, don't use booster.

If you have booster installed at your antenna, power it off. If still doesn't work, then it is better for you to completely remove the box-like booster from ur outdoor antenna. Meaning, connect the cable directly to antenna, not IN to booster, OUT to antenna, and also same goes to indoor booster. If still doesn't work even after all this, and even tried to align your antenna, then it is probably due to the cable. If the cable is too old, like 10 over years already, then it's time to replace a new one.

Receiving digital TV signals should be way easier to receive compared to analogue TV. To make things simple, try using indoor antenna first, even though you tried before that receiving analogue TV channels is not possible or poor signal if you use indoor antenna at your location. If can't receive using indoor antenna, then only go ahead for outdoor antenna. Make sure you are using UHF antenna.
