my baby keeps getting 'frights' when sleeping...even though i live in a very peaceful and quiet home...anybody knows why? e.g. she sleeps soundly for an hour..then suddenly jolts and wakes up crying..then carry her...a while..falls asleep again..puts her back in the cot...sleep a while and wakes up with a jolt again.... repeat whole night...any idea?

chinese tradition, they make a tiny long pillow about 12" x 5", inside put uncooked rice. When baby sleeping lay the pillow on her belly. Or you can try the wrapping, use a towel or baby blanket, make sure her hand is not free but snug with the towel, this way she feels like being hug and not easily frighten.
hope this help

no.. dont play excessively.. just some gentle playing will do..
make sure u gave her sometimes to wind down during the night. Say she sleeps at 8pm, start your bedtime routine around 7pm. Off the lights, swaddle her.. rock her a bit.. on music.. etc etc.. use some oil to rub her tummy.. massages..
then she will probably sleeps better.
Re the pillow, bumblebee brand has a ready-made ones.
what i did was use a empty bolster cover, put in some green beans, then sew it together at both ends. that way, when baby sleeps, u can put it horizontally on her tummy then fill both sides with beans so that it has some weight but her tummy won't.

How about you get a worn shirt by mother with her smell on it. Put it near the baby. She smells mother then she think mother is nearby and sleep soundly.

How old is your baby? You can try to swaddle her..and see if this work. Sometimes, as they were cocooned in their mummy's tummy for 9 months...they have yet to adjust...and they love the feel that they are still in mummy's tummy.

sounds like night terror there... as some suggested, try swaddle her baby at her age still clings to the snuggle feel, swaddling will give her the comfort of still in the womb when slightly older, can try the bean/rice bag method
if all these fails, i'll suggest you seek consult with your pediatrician

Confinement lady teach us to us the pillow and swaddle. It works like a charm.

for baby pillow or bolster dont use rice, as beavers might come out... use green or red beans instead... other materials might be too light or hot
