I myself am brought up in a family with 2 children (my sister and myself). Life would make much a difference with sibling than none. And I carry the same opinion as most of the people here, if you are able to give birth, then I suggest at least 2.

alot of my friends are only child, my brother also have a few friends that are only child. i always ask them why do they like to have sleepovers at my house so much, their answers made me change my mind of having only 1 kid. quote ' because im lonely at home and you have your own football team to play with at home' . according to most of my friends, they always wished for siblings because at least they dont feel lonely at home, and in some situations like dinners, vacations , their always alone because parents would usually be busy socializing and such. even now, when my other 3 siblings are not around, i really feel very lonely, the house is so quiet , alittle too quiet sometimes. but if you can afford, i would really suggest you to have at least 1 more.

phythia79,

My husband and I did consider this during our family planning as we are just normal working adults. By normal means, we dont come from rich background or own big house / car / business.

My husband said if he can afford it, he plans to have 4. I was in some way happy to hear that but when I speak my mind, wanting 6, he fainted. When our friends hear it, they call us the Mao Zhe Dong mentality people!

Of course, we are worried about things financially too. As said above, we are just normal people. As mentioned by others, we cannot give them the best in everything. We have to teach them to jimat and there is always loans and scholarships. If you really want to, I'm sure there is a way.

At least 2 will be fair and good enough.
