For me,my ESW9 put me a smile in my face whenever I listen to it.Don't take my word much though, try it first if its suit your need.BTW it is woody and closed, but the female vocal part is simply magnificent with this cans.It is easily driven too,an amp is not necessary, though it also gain benefits when amped, just not as much as the harder to drive cans. smile.gif

Hmm,for me,ESW9 always satisfy me.Ya,the comfort of closed on-ear headphone couldn't match with the ad series of course. If you like airy sound signature, you won't go wrong with ad700,ad900 or higher. smile.gif

ESW9 is my best cans so far.My ear is quite normal,so the comfort isn't that bad, although it still sit on my ear.I need to take it out after 3-4 hours to rest my ear a bit,but usually,I'm ok with it.Pair it up with ordnance .22 currently, its so beautiful. biggrin.gif

I'm not good in reviewing,so forgive me.Pairing Ordnance .22 and cryo copper IC with ESW9,the first thing I noticed is the instrument separation. It is much more spacious also. The mids is a bit forwarded, but not as forward as govibe mini box amp.The bass become more tighter and faster, the response time. The high doesn't improve much or my newbie ears doesn't detect it.That is all I could detect, sorry with my clumsy explanation. notworthy.gif

If you think the bass for AD700 is not enough for you,I doubt AD900 will satisfy you.You might want to look at HD5xx series for more bass quantity than ad700 but it semi open cans.

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Feb 5 2012, 12:39 AM)
my ad900 has more than enough bass to satisfy me. granted, i have replaced the ear pads, and i am using govibe peak desktop amp to drive it, which pushes the bass a ton for this combination

also, AFAIK senns 5xx series all the way to hd800 are full open cans. just that senn typical sound signature is on the veiled/dark side, which means it will no doubt have more bass quantity.

Oh,I thought it semi open because of its bass quantity.Yesterday,I traded my ES7 for Alessandro MS1i + topup. Its still new, less than 20 hours of burn in,so may be quite some time needed before reaching it full potential.I'm quite happy with it as the vocal and string instrument quite nice but the soundstage almost non-existence.I'm thinking for modding it to MS1000. brows.gif

I wish figma offer all the vocaloid member. The only available vocaloid up to now is Miku,Luka, and Kagamine Len&Rin.There might be hope for it coming to figma as Meiko,Kaito and Gakupo already enlisted in Nendoroid line. smile.gif

Hmm,I have to agree with you.Since I entered this field,my budget for figurines seem declined sharply.A bit frustrating sometimes.

Haha,yup2.Female vocal is the best with AT.Tried to use my tube amp pair it with ESW9,using cryo copper IC,disaster.Too warm, until masking the detail too much,so change it to cryo gold IC,better result.Didn't try tube rolling yet,btw I use DIY tube amp sold by LYN forumer.

I use LYN forumer Creater Star DIY tube amp, this amp improve mostly in bass and treble when using the provided tube, mids also got improvement, but maybe need a bit of tube rolling to get the perfect synergy with ESW9.
