QUOTE(ivamu04 @ Jul 6 2011, 10:09 AM) Sir Alex Ferguson prepared to spend big to make Wesley Sneijder the centrepiece of his re-shaped Manchester United side Great essay bro. U are a good writer! :thumbsup:After his team were soundly beaten by Barcelona in the Champions League final, the Red Devils boss is rebuilding once more - and has not ruled out moving for the costly Dutchman Sir Alex Ferguson may have admitted defeat in his quest to sign stellar players such as Luka Modric, Samir Nasri and Alexis Sanchez but his refusal to give up on Wesley Sneijder shows just how important he thinks the Dutch midfielder could be as the Manchester United manager crafts what could prove to be the last team of his trophy-laden reign. The late Sir Matt Busby famously built three teams during his reign as Manchester United manager and while Ferguson has already eclipsed his celebrated predecessor’s achievements he is aiming to repeat the trick in a bid to lead the Premier League champions back to the summit of European football next season with Sneijder the centrepiece of his masterplan. Sir Alex has already bolstered his attacking ranks with Ashley Young and his defensive options with Phil Jones as he looks to a long-term future without Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand, but he has identified Inter and Netherlands midfielder Sneijder for the 'here and now' as he sets his sights on Champions League glory after being pipped to the trophy by Barcelona at Wembley last season. Goal.com has learned that Sir Alex - seeking to fill the void left by Paul Scholes’ retirement - rates the player so highly that he is refusing to give up on signing Sneijder even though he would cost United £35 million and would be looking for a salary in the region of a mind-boggling £250,000 per week which would give the playmaker parity with Wayne Rooney in financial terms. A source close to the club said: “It’s all a bit more than they were wanting to pay but they are trying to work out a way that they can accommodate Sneijder even though he would be so expensive. “Sneijder has said that he is happy to stay at Inter Milan but Sir Alex really fancies signing him because he would fit the bill perfectly for United so it has not been ruled out.” Even before Scholes called it quits, the need for Ferguson to re-structure was put firmly into perspective when Barcelona crushed his charges 3-1 in the one-sided Champions League final at Wembley last May. Lionel Messi might have stolen the limelight thanks to his superb individual performance but the way Sir Alex's midfield was over-run illustrated where change was most desperately needed because the likes of Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez ran rings around Michael Carrick and Giggs. It was in the midfield trenches that the game was won and lost and so if Ferguson is to end his glorious, trophy-laden reign on the ultimate high he needs to recruit a play-making midfielder of the calibre of Nasri, Modric or Sneijder. With Sir Alex accepting that Manchester City could entice Nasri away from Arsenal and after being told that Modric is not for sale by Tottenham, he is now weighing up a way to lure the 27-year-old Dutchman away from Italy. It will not be easy to keep the Old Trafford wage structure in tact but the wily old master is currently examining ways that a deal might be struck to accommodate Sneijder without destroying the Old Trafford wage structure that saw Rooney became the club’s top earner after he submitted a transfer request last season. Sir Alex is keen to take advantage of the Glazer family’s willingness to spend big in the transfer market this summer to invigorate the Premier League champions’ renewed challenge for honours as he seeks to re-shape a team vanquished by Barcelona in their last outing, and in Sneijder he would be able to call upon a player who knows what it takes to win the Champions League thanks to his exploits with Inter two years ago. Busby set the template for team-building when he put together the side that won the 1948 FA Cup Final against Blackpool before assembling an outfit that would become known as the ‘Busby Babes’ that included Bobby Charlton and Duncan Edwards before tragedy struck in 1958 when eight of his players died in the Munich air disaster. The Scot overcame serious injury to re-build the club in the face of such awful misery and with the likes of Charlton, George Best, Paddy Crerand and Denis Law on song together, United would go on to become the first English team in history to win the European Cup by beating Portuguese side Benfica 4-1 at Wembley. It is that glorious and highly emotional night backdrop that has been an inspiration to Sir Alex since he took the helm at Old Trafford in 1986 when he began the task of rejuvenating a club that had grown accustomed to living in the shadow of bitter rivals Liverpool during the 1970s and 1980s. After building the side that would win the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1991 thanks mainly to the driving force that was England skipper Bryan Robson, Ferguson went on to end the club’s 26-year wait for a domestic title in 1993 when their talismanic captain was largely a peripheral figure. Ferguson has built and re-built throughout his spell at Old Trafford as the club have successfully overcame the departure of key players such as Roy Keane, Paul Ince and Cristiano Ronaldo but now the stage is set for the manager to do it all again as he aims for the pinnacle of club football. |

Though I still don't think sneijder transfer is likely, a managerial change can bring in a change of gameplan and personnel as well. For example u can see the new manager already bought a new face and probably a couple more. If indeed the new coach are on a revolutionary mission, and sneijder isn't part of his plan, then perhaps sneijder will have 2nd thoughts of staying.
Then again we have high fees and wages to consider so at the end of the day, probably nothing also. Plus we have news like this: http://www.footballitaliano.co.uk/p6_1_631...ijder-stay.html This post has been edited by pyroboy1911: Jul 6 2011, 06:16 PM |

QUOTE(Envoy @ Jul 6 2011, 09:51 PM) we'll see in the future if we are shaky and Liverpool are on form, how many will say "we should have hijacked the deal". i personally think he'll be a good squad player. But signing Henderson and Adam, maybe signalling the end of Gerrard's dominance in their midfield? |

QUOTE(Reon @ Jul 8 2011, 04:19 PM) Nasri's dribbling with ball and penetration skill could be useful to us. Ever since Ronaldo left, we don't have players like that to penetrate the opponents' defense line. Giggs prefer to pass now as he lacks of speed, and Nani just not up to that level (yet?). Someone like Nasri could prove useful for attacking as he can terrify the defense with those dribbling feet. so.......what's Young's signing for again? |

Just for the sake of discussion, for those who thinks Sneijder might find it hard to adapt to English football...dont forget English football suits dutch best. We have great Dutchs like RVN and VDS. other teams? Look at bergkamp, van persie. VDV instant shine when transfer to Tott. Kuyt as well. Plus players like Robben, Marc Overmars, even Ruud Gullit. Just like how brazilians can mix into Spanish football, Dutch seems to have not much problem blending into English football.
PS: my point here isnt about who we should sign. my point here is, I love Dutch footballers in English football |

QUOTE(nshady @ Jul 9 2011, 01:14 PM) I think no one is here to doubt a dutchman(wesley's) capability to be able to adapt to english football. He is one world-class attacking midfielder, i think we would want to argue more if he will become the CM we all have expected. And the wages we have to pay(over 200k) slightly will affect the team i guess(everyone may ask for so much more salary for contract renewal so it sorta affects the team morale). Same argument also can be put forward for Nasri, will he be the midfielder that we want? No big deal, but nasri or wesley would be really great. Again to repeat, my posts have nothing to do with who United should sign, for me either Sneijder or Nasri are still far-fetched to get me ass off my chair over. Needs something more solid like a player running from car to training ground behind a towel to at least convince me |

QUOTE(nshady @ Jul 9 2011, 08:16 PM) Malaga is owned by Qatar's Emir. But i dont see him doing stuff like Dubai did. QUOTE(markjohn @ Jul 9 2011, 08:16 PM) waaaaa....what Malaga could offer sneijder?anyway no concrete or official bidding yet...im sure sneijder know which club to go if he leaves...We are champion of England runner up CL...well i dont knw much about Malaga...never hear them winning anything...besides Malaga offer 35m euro..if united missed out nasri then they might bid welsey for 35m pound which would be 39m euro i guess doesnt matter. Since Malaga is linked with Sneijder now, im also making conclusions that Malaga is about to sign Sneijder |

Is Gibbo like Judas though? He wants to go Chelsea izzit? If SAF still wants him then surely there must be a reason. Calling yourself a United fan yet degrading own players, who's the joker?
And who's to say even if Gibbo leaves, Sneijder or Nasri will come? This is EXACTLY why some of us here are annoyed when fans pay too much attention to transfer news. From nothing concrete becomes the reason to ask own players out. |

i rest my case. We'll just put it as Fergie doesnt want Brown, Oshea and Gibbo, thats why they are offered to Sunderland. Not because Fergie wanna let them have regular appearances which they deserve.

signed merchandise from United Direct is always at least a few hundred pounds. Thats why whenever there is a chance, for example VDS visit a few days ago, try to find out more on how to approach and get his siggy if you are into these kind of stuff. Not only do you get to meet club legends, you get to turn a RM200 jersey into a RM2000k one. Plus i think personally signed stuff have much more intrinsic value than one that is bought, plus the memory of it as well.
