Needed urgent input as I might be closing this deal soon icon_question.gif

Buying Saga LMST
Year : 2005
Colour: Gold
Mileage: 40 000 km
Quoted price for above is RM11 000

Worth buying?

Gold colour version is not merdeka edition right? What spec should it normally come with? I do saw some of the LMST dashboards has orange coloured bar and orange coloured dots on seats. But this doesn't have any. But it does have fin-type blower like old saga wira has, and its rear tail lights has grey background rather than red. Is it in stock condition? Or the car is just a salvaged parts placed inside the car? doh.gif

This is what i'm talking bout:
Fin type blower with no orange dotted seats, bar and orange colored gear console blink.gif
user posted image

Rear tail lights with grey background, unlike RED
user posted image

Btw, will this mileage cause gearbox problem? I overheard the seller was telling his staffs to sell this fast cause dy got gearbox problem shocking.gif ... Any had experienced this before?

All inputs are appreciated... Million thanks. I think will be reporting in very soon wink.gif

Edited: Add in another 2 ques:
Near the boot there got stain on the carpet mat, I assume its normal for a second hand car.
But once I flip up the boot mat, can saw rust on the spare tyre area. Normal again?

Tested drive and engine seemed to have louder noise than my cousins LMST, and got knock sound bit. The person say bearing prob. Is this the gearbo symptoms?

Saga manual gearbox quite bulletproof woh... Unless the car previously involved in an accident la...
There's two versions of Saga LMST:-

1st Batch - Blue, Red, Black, Gold (Sold at MYR37k - Build quality not so good, things fall apart easily)
2nd Batch (Merdeka Edition Type) - Orange & Black - Build quality better, more durable features, nicer tachometer design
Cheapskate Batch - Silver - No power windows, black background tachometer, considered low spec

For your car, year 2005, milage only 40k? Unbeliavable... Means the car only run about 7k per year. If KL numberplate, means the workshop sure did nonsense to the car... Try finding year 2007 / 2008 model bro. It's just a few thousand extra, better quality.
*
Cosyx:
Wah, stock got that sporty then Proton can Evo dy lor.

DSV4600,
Ok. Now can quite confirm gearbox should not be the problem.
Whats with the build quality not so good, interior? Meaning more loose brackets or thinner plastic moulding? Can give examples?

Ok, i'll take note with 2007/2008's car. It's bit more difficult to find in my area. I'm actually driving my cousin's LMST now. Basically will use this car as reference for comparison with second hand as this car only clocked 28k km, 2007 model. shocking.gif

Yea, it's kinda unbelievable mileage, 7k per year, but a search at mudah will unveil more unbelievables shocking.gif
Yup, W number plate. A check with local authority summonses reveal a lady driver. Since its 40k km, steering and gear knob only slight wear and tear, both these items shows that the car has not been traveling more than 50k km. Only left the factory QC green sticker didn't check.

so Rm11k worth?
Thanks again!

red dot seat , red tinted rear lamp and blm style air cond vent  is last batch , year 2007  27,999 selling price
everything u descripe is correct for year 2005 model
7k annum mileage y not ?
mine 20years old only clocked 160k so average 8k per year
but nowday 300 buck to reset the digital millage servise available so be careful
gearbox problem , check for load dog box noise when cruising , crunk noise when entering gear and gear bouncing of the position when moving
thy alot at 3rd and 5th gear since mitsu's weak point of gb is this two gear
try look around for uneven paint since my logic in buying a car is to look for an accident free chassis , if something looks funny , walk away
yes our 4g1 engine will tend to have knocking but take note when it know on high speed , knock on low speed is normal
rust on boot ?  check for accident sign
11k is reasonable
*
2007 batch is nicer... Ok. thanks for the interior info confirmation for 2005. That did enlighten me.
300 bucks reset digital milage into 40000km but not zero? blink.gif Possible? Btw, for me, 8k km is only enough 100 days when I used to drive. icon_rolleyes.gif
Ok, will put great attention on the gears, especially 3rd and 5th gear. The person quoted wheel bearing as the source of noise when my parents driven the car rclxub.gif But i'll make sure it's that prob and not gearbox (Hopefully bukan gearbox prob + Reset km Combo me)
Chassis and Accident stuffs I have a trusted workshop that'll check on last before closing deal. My particular attention will be whole rear chassis as some of the boot plastic clips are gone dy, and the plastics at boot is rather calar than usual for "lady office driver".

Thanks for input! Sealing LMST soon.

Just buy only... IF Possible get a trusted mechanic , probably your dad's friend or something ... bring him down and check the car... you never know... you won't want to buy a car and then spend the next few years of your life repairing it ...

If you do happen to get the lmst which the aircon outlet like the pic u shown ... Please do change it to the new style... Saga BLM 2 fin that kind... Air con much cooler ... lesser rattling sound from your dashboard ...  icon_rolleyes.gif

End of the day, if you like the car, you don't smell or feel something fishy, then can consider to buy already.
Also, since your thoughts will be biased when seeing the car, bring a friend who is neutral and knows cars well so that he can give you constructive feedback.

Thanks again for your advice. I'm comparing with another 2007/08 version dy. Seemed like not many options to choose since i'm considered picky buyer.

Just like my parents said: Aiyah, second hand car got people use dy is like that ma... So picky here picky there if got money then go buy new 40k saga flx la doh.gif

If you're picky, then definately it will take some time to find a really really mint condition car.
Even myself, took me 1 year to find a 2nd hand LMST I feel like buying, but it's a gem.
(Dec 2007 model, 20000km, full service records, old aunty driver - 55 years old @ RM18k, 5 year warranty)

Taking into consideration that most people on average drive their car about 10000 - 15000 km per year, the cars you will be seeing would have run milage of 40000 - 60000. (If year 2007 / 2008). Also, if they run low milage, but tak jaga the kereta, always park under the sun, you will see the car's exterior & interior, rubber parts, all starting to fade off dy... Sure this will make you potong stim one!

If you have the budget (you're working) and would prefer having a bigger car with higher costs (as a trade-off), you should look into 2008 / 2009 onwards Proton:-
1) Proton Waja 1.6 CPS (M) - Don't get auto because underpowered and 4 speed gearbox, consume more petrol
Selling around RM35k - RM45k
2) Proton Saga BLM 1.3 SE (M) - Can get around RM30k or lower

Patience bro, good things don't come so easily... Yesterday went to PD, saw quite a new well kept LMST for sale in car dealership... Looks stock standard and 2007 / 2008 model. Guessing it's low milage since small town. Hehehehehe...
Maybe you can take a drive down to PD and scout it out.
*
That car is really in good condition! Lol. Yea, interior I memang pantang powder powder steering and fading gear knob with low mileage. Cause i'm the only one jaga-ing the interior of car blink.gif

Not working, student still for another few years but family condition needing second car dy. If bought around now or sooner the timing just nice, pocket not too flat for CNY + other other factors. Your suggested car is great for graduates, but my moneyflies.gif not there yet.

The other factors i'll explain when i get the car thumbup.gif

any good suggestion on what to use to seal the air cond foot outlet?

Added on September 20, 2011, 9:35 pm
usually when i go for alignment, the foreman will adjust the steering wheel also. you just need to open the screw on the bottom of your steering wheel, disconnect the horn and open the nut in the middle with your spanner for the tire's nut. then you can adjust your steering wheel as much as you like. but you will need a straight and quiet road cuz you cant maneuver too much to get the perfect lining.

I'm having similar problem with the air con foot outlet thingy. My cousin's LMST. After I pushed the air distributor to down 1 bar which is blow front and leg, now push all the way up the leg still can feel got air con blowing la. Any idea how to solve? The lever macam tak makan all the way up or the shutter door for the leg lever got problem?

guys, any of u been using X1-R engine treatment on ur car? Does it gives good effect?
*
I bought one X1-R engine treatment. But on that night after I bought, I searched for internet about the effects of it. Some did say there's gain in power but there's also lots of bad comments about it, something like maybe those are from used engine oil la and some say our engine oil are already the top form, mixing with others may distort the quality of something rclxub.gif

Best of all, some american website that prove X1-R is rather useless cause X1-R existed since the 90's, but only recently only promote that they're NASA-ly accredited or something... So how true can the NASA accredition be? A search at NASA web also said nothing about X1-R. That's what the website says.

So now I waiting for my new car so i can pour in brows.gif

Btw, I found a lot of good comments about Tuf-Oil engine treatment instead. I think better try that if you want deciding on X1-R. Its just a bit more expensive than X1-R, but somehow there's better comments on it.

That's what happened to the LMST I had driven. Once I pushed the lever to test, now even blow direct also leaking on foot area and windscreen area. A search at thread says it's a common issue again.

You have to manually push all the vents close back again with your hands, and keep the lever at highest.
Also, all the blower holes at the bottom, close with new sponges to redirect the air up.

That's what I did... Although LMST air cond like to leak everywhere, but it's super ice cold.
So this is just a small fix.  icon_idea.gif

I did saw this version when I went around to survey for LMST. I was amazed by the black tachometer but once I see the air-con controller part... Why missing 2 lever 1? Straight turned away from the dealer as I thought the LMST is heavily damaged until interior also need refurnish. Lol... I'm not aware of the presence of this type of LMST at that time.

Quoted from kevinlim001 on 22,january 2007 post,
"there is only 1 color for it its grey and its NPS non power steering. No alarm, no mulfer, diferent meter design (just a bit nia), no cd player, no reverse sensor, no rear spoiler, no door visor (i suppose), blah blah blah just a standard ar with 2-3k different from the 27k version. another thing is this NPS version rims caps sucks. the rim is 13' if i m not mistaken"

lowyat82 you can seriously bare the non-standard specs ah? Somemore no power window icon_question.gif

Anyway, I had confirmed LMST as my first new ride rclxm9.gif But I wouldn't be the first user to fully use it, parents car under repair. Basically these few weeks that car will kena kau kau... Everyday at least 100km until family car came back from workshop doh.gif

Just went down and reposition all those lever. There's only one MASSIVE 1 inch hole which is at the driver side causes the problem, sealed it with a thick square sponge and Voila!

Went around with full blast to check any leaks left... Now just hope the top vent doesn't experience any leaks.

About the air con... I really dunno whats the problem, its like inside winter if I adjust the lever to the mid, and minus dunno how many degree if max. Noted. I nearly confused them with LMSS.

Basically lifeline of Saga:
Saga (First Proton Car, light square square style) --->
Iswara (Light rectangular style, late versions include aerobacks and 1.5L) --->
LMSS (Copy all from iswara except change to 3 circle rear plastic lights and with kangaroo bar brake lights) --->
LMST 1 (External major facelift aka kereta kebal, plastic door trim+dashboards, Lotus meter in Proton for the first time, RM35k) --->
LMST 2 + LMST NPS (MERDEKA! RM25k-27k but with major parts reduction compared to LMST 1) --->
BLM (Campro time, Mitsu bye bye. Instead of square and rectangular, Proton and taxis choose to go round shaped now) --->
FL (Facelift lagi, LED rear and mirror lights, more like imported car looks) --->
FL 1.6 (Slow in production and putih saje, personally only seen 1 in roads) --->
FLX 1.3 with CVT (CVT street driving power gila betul or push a button to revert auto 6 speed) -->
(Rumours of FLX CVT 1.6 on 2011 year end ==> Saga boleh terbang)

Correct me if i'm wrong...

how much it cost to install reverse sensor?
any idea?
*
I bought cheapskate one 2 point reverse sensor for RM30 at Brothers. Then installation they quote me extra RM50. I went to another shop near setapak for the same thing and packaging, with installation is RM 200 vmad.gif

If you go Glenmarie Proton Parts Centre for the 2 point reverse sensor, the sensors will cost you RM77 per side, control box RM200 but out of stock. This price I can go for with camera one liao.

After a search around for installation, the cheapest I can get is RM30. So it's the same price as the reverse sensor itself, so I DIY-ed. It's pretty simple cause you just only need to follow the instructions booklet.

I installed it on Waja, similar to Saga/Iswara's which has reverse sensor module (control box) built it dy. So no need play play with wiring. If once you switch to reverse dy got "beep" sound, means the control box is already present in your car. I did not change the control box although it's not recommended by ALL installers. I did check the distance it supposed to detect and it performed well as stated in the booklet.

Get this:

Get a drill with "Hole saw cutter 20mm diameter" (diameter too small for mine and varies depending on your sensor size) RM12

After drill, fit it in, (View is at behind of the bumper)

Find a hole to poke the wire out to your rear light assembly area. How I did mine:
user posted image

Then plug it to your reverse sensor control module at the right side of rear bonnet. Need to remove some clips and take out the piece of "cloth" around the bonnet, it will then expose the metal parts and the module. (Those clips are fragile, to replace can buy each at RM0.50 at Brothers)

does iswara have built in reverse sensor module? i bought mine from ebay (china) and installed myself. not too difficult but routing the wire from the back to the dashboard meter is difficult without removing the seat. mine has led display, showing distance and amber/red warning leds as i get close. i think around RM50 only + diy free smile.gif but i personally think it's quite difficult to diy, need at least 1/2 day as you need to remove bumper and wire everything up nicely, so if you can get installer to do for you say RM30-50 i'd suggest that. on average I guess reverse sensor should cost about RM100-130 incl. installation.
*
I think depends on iswara version? LMST 27k sure have lor. The sensors may be removed after accident on bumper. The fella won't install the sensors back if damaged after accident. But the control box normally still there unless they very free to remove it. If its there, wiring will be simple as just need to tap and switch to adapt new control module.

For your type with distance display all those one I'll let the installer install it if I bought that. That is more complicated dy.

Just got my LMST today...

Speed kau kau 140km/h... Don't dare to "fly" the car yet. Steering very light, used to drive waja. I think soundproof quite ok. Just the driver door kept on ratlling on idle... Macam ada skrew longgar...

The air con panel also need to stuck one thick card, if not high frequency jittering sound on idle. According to the service records the previous owner every time go service also ask them to dismantle the panel to check AC until like that... doh.gif Even the screw hole also big like one finger can go in... Haiz. But luckily air con no leaking everywhere... yet.

Last problem, maybe not a problem anyway. Why the rev engine until after 2.5-3k rpm occasionally got high frequency screeching sound one ar? I noticed this on my cousin's and this car also. It's like add car add turbo "eee-eee-eee" punye sound... It'll go off once you let go the pedal.

Overall... Love the car a lot... thumbup.gif Will give it a groom after my exams...

Belum lagi la... Tunggu my exam over la. That car very stock but dun think got moneyflies.gif to mod... Student mia...
Round around college can see like 1 out of 10 same car... But don't care la... Comparison with other models, the price and year ratio LMST is best choice. (Manual 5th gear low RPM makes my right foot more heavy...)

The car is 2007 model, so 5 years warranty meaning warranty expires on 2012 or 50000km which ever comes first right? Banyak nak question and parts nak tembak SC... And the power window lifetime guarantee thingy how to get? I heard need to get new card for that..
