Hi,

Any suggestion for nice mamak/makan place in PJ to hangout at night? Best if it is in sea park area, or sec 14, 17 area. Best if food is good and not too high class.

So far the mamak i go to the food all lousy. Except for Murni in SS2 but it is too packed and wait too long.

For good, spacious environment, i go to Restoran Al-Meerasa, the one beside Seapark Giant but the service lousy, food also lousy, some more the fork and spoon oily.

Besides that also got go PJ19 food court near the Rothmans roundabout, but getting a bit bored there.

I am meeting up with friends coming in from Singapore for a late nite drink, maybe ard 10-midnite

Can anyone please recommend some nice places which I can bring them? Preferably decent place with good ambience, not necessary clubs as they are not drinkers, and not too difficult parking. Definitely not mamaks.

Pls pls give me some ideas. I'm not familiar with Bangsar but dun mind venturing there if anyone can provide me with info. Is Taipan a good place to hang out late at nite??

Yah..hailam kopitiam toasted bread is authentic hailam..gooddd..There are two that I know...One in Bdr Puteri Puchong & another at SS2, the 3rd one at Kuchai Lama

Too bad they close early..11pm! doh.gif ..Other than Hailam, u can try papparich/Oldtown & etc...more conducive than lotsa mamak

Come and share your favorite places to drink tea, a Malaysian culture. May it be Kopitiam or mamak. But please limit it to cheap and affordable places. High tea at hotels is a no no.

Old town food is getting more and more expensive with shrinking size but I still like their toasts and white coffee. 223 is also a nice place for nasi lemak, while the mamak selling awesome fried chicken at Seapark Maybank.. sad to say the quality dropped a lot since my last visit last weekend.

william's doesnt have claypot lou shu fun and alot of others. murni doesnt have roti hawaii etc etc.

williams is more towards western food fusion where they serve spaghetti and pasta and all that funky stuff.
murni towards the asian cuisine, claypot lou shu fun, nasi campur even.

both serve very different things indeed. maggi utara is something you dont find in williams but available in murni. spaghetti seafood olive oil, is only available in williams.

Murni does have roti hawaii and western food.

Loh Shu fun is a type of noodles used in chinese cuisine. Literally means "rat noodle" in chinese. White in colour , looks like a short rat's tail. The loh shu fun in Murni is very good.

Specialties in Murni - Nasi Goreng Maryland, Nasi Goreng Ketam, Mee Raja, Sizzling Chicken Chop, Nasi Lemak Ayam, the pasta is average, i can cook better pasta than them. They have lots of roti also. Wide range of drinks too. You can ask them on the spot.

Not so sure bout Williams though - have only been there twice only. Wide range of western food though.

Don't expect it to be cheap btw.

p.s: Murni just opened a new branch in Sunway Mas. Located at a corner shop with aircond, and menu! If you don't want the dodgy ss2 Murni, can always opt for the Sunway Mas one.

2 nites ago, me visited Murni Discovery at Sunway Mas here: N3 07.130 E101 35.967

I used to be murni hater due to lotsa bad "hygiene" comment on their SS2 outlet..Well the one at Sunway MAS sure clean wan...Recommended and the claypot lousi fun at RM5/pot is thumbup.gif

We tried their soft shell crab fried rice..not bad also but abit pricey at RM15/plate. Well crab mah

I would recommend Teh Tarik + Roti Kosong in Brickfield's Sri Paandi. Same row with a petshop in corner lot. Opposite KFC and 711.

Walao eh me googled & found my name mentioned liao..Sharkteef also in rclxms.gif :

{After eating so much Japanese food, it has been decided to eat something different. I have been reading alot about this place in Low Yat forum where the persons with the nicks sharkteef & stimix have been singing praises about it ( http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/661834 ). Thus, on this fine Saturday morning, I decided to take a ride there. It was not difficult to find if you come from the Federal Highway & turn-off to go onto Old Klang Road. It is on the right at the first T-junction with traffic lights & this junction turns left to go Taman Desa. Thus, you would need to go to the next traffic light to U-turn to get to this place. Coincidentally, this place was also recommended by a friend to eat good fish for lunch though he also did mention it was only average in price.}

Had mamak at murni SS2 last friday ... I would say the food quality drops already as most of the food served to my table cold already ... seems that most of the food there already pre-cooked which means murni had become a little bit like fast food outlet ... however there is still a lot of fans there as outside tables are arrange from one end of the block (public bank) to another end (mitsubishi outlet) ...

Hi peeps,

Need your advice & ideas.
I'll be picking up some really nice friends (coming in from Singapore) at KLIA around 11pm on Friday and was thinking about bringing them to a nice halal place that is along the way when I drive back from KLIA to Cheras. Any recommendations of nice halal places that I can bring them to makan? I know mamak stalls are everywhere la, but are the some special places that you can recommend? If it is during the day it would be much easier, but late nite a bit susah...
Please help me guys! Thanks! :-)

Spicy Kitchen Restaurant in Bandar Menjalara, somewhere near Kepong is quite a good place to hang out with your friends. Not to say the best but it's quite good. smile.gif

Restaurant providing simple yet with varieties of economical choices to all layer of customers regardless is for breakfast, lunch, dinner or supper managed mostly by Malay and Indian ethnics. Such restaurant or commonly know as "Mamak Stalls" had become so famous even oversea friends missed such culture place to hang out especially during night times.

Now these are the few famous places that had been in the list:
>> Darussalam and Silva in ss15 Subang Jaya
>> Mamak behind Maybank Seapark
>> Kayu in Taipan and SS2
>> Murni in SS2, Aman Suria and Taipan USJ
>> Williams in Taman Mayang
>> Pelita in SS15 and SS2
>> Mamak area opposite SS2 Police Station
>> Jalan 223 Food Court in PJ
>> Ali Maju in Pusat Bandar Damansara
>> MALI's Nasi Lemak & Keow Teow Basah in Taman Bunga Raya Setapak
>> BRJ in Wangsa Maju
>> Stevens Corner in OUG

Apart from the above list, is there any other location that would interest you and family/friends would hang out together.?? let share and see

due to my recent visit, the place had been renovated whereby all tables and chairs had been arrange along the back alley with fans airing along it, the drains had been covered and walls painted nicely however their kitchen is still rank C in terms of cleanliness.
