Yes,my spotage having this annoying sound came fr back when going uneven road.
Sc indentify it n found is the lock issue. Design problem. Solution is the sc use electrical tape to wrap on it. After open close it few times the problem back again.  rclxms.gif

you mean the boot?
i know the tucson has this problem
there is a way to fix it, you have to go to the autoworld forum, under the tuscon page and look on the pics on how they solve it

for the sportage i think you are the first having this issue
but good to know

Sam sam, thanks for the info sharing. btw, i would like to share more on my sportage issue. if so happen the sportage fan here got some idea how to fix it or any gd SC to reco, hope u guys can share it to me. thanks again very much.. glab got this forum.

my sportage issue, (should be NO.1 in malaysia i got this issue)

1) car body/ sterring vibrate when speed to 50-60 and 80-100 each time. get check n SC suspected long shaft prob. after long waiting for the parts to come n change it, finally got slightly improvement. 50-60 no more vibrate but now 90-100 the vibrate comes again.. its not the aligment nor balancing tyre issue.. my car mileage up to date 43,000km+, coming sixth service.

2) When put heavy footer onto the pedal n doing the acceleration, my car aircond got some gas/oil smell flowing from the aircond. n each time u repeated the same action the smell repeated each times.. get check but till now cant fixed it..

3) during raining, the front head lamp n rear tail lamp got fogging.. n SC said cannot claim, unless water goes in.

4) my car boot lock issue (will check on autoworld forum as sam sam reco)

5) All four door, boot cover, centre console box n dash board storage place got mice sound. i diy myself put sponge..

6) Put the sterring straight, car aligment always going to left, especially on highway. being fixed a lot lot time. doesnt help.

Although my complaint here a lot, but im still enjoy riding on it. its still a very nice car. just hope all the above issue will settle soon.  thumbup.gif
*
the car steering left i think on the autoworld i remember reading. do read up there
On the mice sounds, how does it sound like something moving?
on the air con, maybe the aircon hose got micro holes. Did you check the gas in the aircon. If its low perhaps there is some leakage thus maybe you get the gas smell from the engine.
your car really lemon. SO far i think very minor issues i read about sportage unlike the tucson which a number of members having problems

Most important what is the SC doing, are they continuously trying to fix the car? if so would be really good shows improvement
Have you brought it to the bigger SC for checking?

Can anyone share how is the fuel consumption and maintenance for this car, also i heard the aircon is turning not cold when in the traffic jam, if that true?
*
yes, its true
its the temperature that is not so good. Still bearable
they do this to save petrol

maintenance okay, fuel consumption above average for city driving

my rear left door also abit difficult to close properly, normally have to try 2nd time harder to properly close.
another thing is engine sounds rougher than before after 1k service. that's all the issue i have, others have been so great. love my sportage  thumbup.gif
*
what oil did you used?
also did you make sure they change engine oil
was told there are cases where the techs don't change the oil since the oil is almost virgin
when they flush out at 1K, the oil was still golden and its fully syn oil. So the tech mention they just top up to make it fool and keep the balance for them self
this related to me by a Kia Tech himself

bro, do share with us after u visit the pirelli shop. from my understanding, if they got the 2011 kia sportage on the aligment computer data, i believe they sure can fix it. all shop i went is onli 2006-2009 kia sportage aligment data. (set on the aligment computer) hope they had updated the data.
im gonna try the remote alarm for the boot. never try before..
*
our first oil was from korea so most probably hyundai oil bank as mention above. the oil we used in malaysia is not really fully syn compare to the fully syn from overseas worse being petronas. i think we are force to use petronas until 5years if you service at authorized sc. I did mine at glenmarie the 3s centre. But i think if you go the to the non 3s center can use different oil

on your sounds from the car the mice sound did the padding help?
I never notice it before but my car has been sound proof. Most of the internals there is a 3m acoustic fibre used for damping

To all kia sportage member here,

i do post my car problem here n one of it is the alignment issue..always going to left. i had tried almost 13 diff shop for the past 8 month n the improvement not much. our member here amdadn reccomend the shop at glenmarie shah alam same row with the kia sc at the corner lot Pirelli tyre shop. n today i just went there to do the aligment n balancing. guess wat, bothering me for 8 month aligment issue had been settle today!!!! (90% satisfaction!!) (Im not doing advertisement for them, but to share if anyone got this issue.)
they charge me RM77.00 and i think its really worth it coz they really solve my issue although waiting for 2 hours. but im happy with it! thanks to that guy name GK there! (think im the first sportage visit their shop) hooray!!

Good to know that your problem settled.. rclxms.gif will send my car there too because just now i feel like the alignment going wrong again. icon_rolleyes.gif

2 things i really disappointed with KIA SC;
1. Their 3S SC didn't provide any complimentary drinks to customer. Not even a water dispenser? I'm not asking for much, but a produa SC is "much more" better than KIA even P2 highest car price only 60k++.
2. This is much more important, i saw quite a few technician working wearing steel watch, bracelet? and even rings? what will happen if they accidentally knock/scratch our car? then will KIA be responsible about this?

Other than that their service was great and even wash the car for free.. rclxms.gif
*

[/quote]

the wearing of steel watch, rings is a no no in any dirty engineering related business. the ring may get stuck or accidently touch the battery terminals. also plus it scratches the paint if you are not careful. Kia still needs to improve their general work ethics. Which 3S is this?
i remember glenmarrie has a simple water dispenser.

I would never send my car for free car wash. They do more harm than good. If the same service center allows the techs to wear rings do you think the cloth and soap they used for your car is good. The cloth wiping your car could be used to wipe your tears and under and then it wipes your paint
sure lots of micro scratches. Soap could be a generic car wash which is worse for the undercoat. Hopefully they don't put in fab like the other road size car washes

actually on horsepower the sportage is the most powerfull of the lot at 166hp
the rest are at 150hp, like x-trail worse at 138hp.

one thing you need to know same for tucson, the test drive car is never as powerful unless the car has 2K on its mileage

the car opens up at the lower end once after the 1K service

also if you get the knn air filter and alternator booster you would be fine.

i think the mazda would be worse the engine is lower power plus the 19" rims would not help with acceleration but would make it worse

the asx is sharing the same engine anyway but its not tune up for the horsepower, the asx is also smaller in size

it should be around 1.4K. Effective interest rate is around 4.8%. INterest rate of loan is 2.6%

I think the interest rate should be cheaper since if you wan to get 9 year loan! i get my from public bank 2.49% for 7 year
*
i remember that 9 years the interest goes up not down
anyway i took max loan as effective rate is so much lower than other investments
my rate was public bank

Sam,

You are wrong, the longest installment rate is lower.
*
i guess its different per basis or for last year's rate
for 7 years they offer me 2.4
anyway the small amount does not really matter much
perhaps less coffee bean per month

is it 1/3 of your take home salary(nett salary) or your gross

*
you can try then
if you have other income sources then it should be alright
but if its only paycheck, a bit hard, petrol cost, food, clothing, handphone do add up. Then you need savings
do you have house installments if you do please minus that from your net salary when working out the loan applicable or not

diy myself...
donr think too difficult...
once you fismantle the tailamp you know how to do already..

The drilling part can ask any accessory shop to drill...about 1inch diameter hole...using dremal
Others is just pretty straight forward stuff
*
since you are drilling plastic can use hole saw or the flat head for wood to drill 25mm

I am hoping to get the white one. Went to kl showroom, imm delivery cbu showrrom unit. If not, ckd version two mths later. Haha.

Owner out there, any major cons so far? Or pro.
*
Well the car for me so far no problems since august last year
don't hear 2 many issues, but there were 2 owner having some issues with it.

The good thing if you get the showroom, you can nicely check and test the car before money paid
bad thing is other people touch your "new" car. Can always clean with lysol for the seats and apply new leather protector

if you get a new sportage always a risk it can be a lemon, or problematic even its a cbu. With CKD it may be even worse

Most important you get to use the car in a week versus "2 months". It may be longer than that

I got it online from kangyoon in lowyat forum. Delivery only takes two days. It's pretty easy to install, no need to go to shop.

Seller's url, http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showuser=52900

I bought from the same seller.
There is a you tube video on how to change it. Plus it is a snap fit compartment

Before I decide to put my money on this sportage i have done some own research for tucson and sportage!
This is some of the pro and con!

Like:-
1: 5 year unlimited warranty: This will make you worry free as you no need to worry about engine, gearbox and etc. Tucson only aslo 5year warrant but 300000km only." although is very hard to reach 300,000km but if there got give unlimited would be nicer"

2.Design- Compare with tucson i still prefer sportage since the body look is much muscle then tucson. And dont forget the designer of sportage is audi designer.

3.Space- I have compare both car still sportage look a but bigger then tucson.

4.Rim: 18inch rim look nicer but the bad thing is when you change tyre then you will feel then pain cause price is much more expensive

5.Interior - My person opinion sportage interior is nicer then tucson but no hard feeling this is my opinion.

Dislike:
1.Services:- since many people complaint about the kia services is not that good.

2.Resale value- not good as compare with japanese car but this will not long term cause now korean car is coming up fast!

3.interior - is good but too much hard plastic but not much complaint because of this target price!
Remark: This is my personal opinion so pls dont have hard feeling for those like tucson .
*
Sportage is wider. So it's more comfortable. Tucson feels a tad smaller but i get the feeling of not a luxurious car because of this

*
thats is the main thing my wife complain about the tucson, like proton wira must fold manually

with a new car every time you go to the shopping complexes, we tend to fold in our mirrors just in case kind scratch
so the fold in is very important

Actually for car builder there need to build a car that is better then other to attract buyer! Since the tucson is older then sportage so kia have to add more features to the sportage!!!!
*
Nope Tucson has the function. But because it's 2 airbags have to remove it. Also because of the 2 airbags there's no auto lock for the Tucson. Sportage having 6 airbags and full specs has gull mirror fold and auto lock. Tucson like old wira everytHing my sendiri buat

sam sam, i think u hv done soundproofing for ur car.
i got quoted for all these soundproofing below..

4 wheel
Floor panel
4doors
Firewall
Engine hood
Rear boot
Door seal

i plan to do step by step. which one do u think has the most significant difference?
*
for sportage do the
1) engine hood
2) firewall
3) Rear boot + back floor panel. When you need to remove the plastic wheel arch for the back must remove back seat
4) 4 door
5) 4 wheels

door seal don't bother it is new and still very good
