Thanks a lot bro.
But Glenmarie is under NSS right? Not Naza Kia...
If have to do at major branch, maybe I'll try Naza Kia Setapak coz near to my home...
*
Glenmarie there is NSS and the Kia 3S center

some say the NSS also is pretty good some say better than 3S

The KIA setapak is also good as i read on some forum

for 1K service don't have to worry much their checklist is just make sure everything is bolted down if not just tighten the nuts only

if u can afford it, just buy sorento, more power more space
*
more power but bigger body not much difference right?
plus with the bigger body more wind resistance looking at the design
Unless you have a family of more than 4 i think its worthwhile to buy a bigger car
fuel consumption goes up with the body weight
have been driving well can get around 9 liter for 100km in city

not sure for next week. KNN air filter coming in this weekend

got my K&N filter yesterday. Will try to install it this weekend. hopefully the performance will improve...

Also started on the rear lights modifications. it was a pain to source for the right materials and parts. had to compromise with what i could find in the hardware store. will post up some pictures when i get it working, or if i could get it working... tongue.gif
*
which seller did you buy your KNN filter from and how much?

Might be best to take note of the FC change. I read when installed the FC gets worse good to know for future KNn buyers

I saw a post in Sportage Owners Club in FB that he's averaging 50x km per full tank after installing K&N.
Mine is less than 400km/tank but I haven't done 1000km servicing yet.

I also ordered 1 from Lowyat Auto Garage.
Should receive it next week and can install after my 1st service.
*
i doubt after first service any difference with the mileage
after watching them do the service not likely.

Hopefully mine would that be much worse

have not gone back for King's coat checking for both of my cars
will do after the new year, been busy.

So how's the sportage with the coating. My i suggest you get in touch with KC from optimum and by the wax he sells and the No rinse car wash.
After you wash and wax your car the sportage will shine even more. If are up for it buy the OPtiseal to, seal wax even shiner.
I like wax because it gives the slick and depth look sealing the car on top of the coat even shiner. Gives you close to the motor showroom finish

No thanks bro.
Korean side don't have Techno Orange colour....

Added on January 16, 2012, 1:15 am

Honestly bro, can't see much different yet...
Will make appointment again with Carzmo for touch-up this weekdays before they close for CNY
*
its not much difference, i face the same issue before when i did mine. Looks like slightly better than a polish job only

if you want to see the main difference there are the 2 things you can do
1) Take you car put it next a new sportage same and you would see the difference major
2) get your car in accident and do a spray with the same color, compare the new painted panel and the coated part. This even wife can see the difference very easily

i did both. Coating looks deeper, creates a depth and the color is richer

Quite expensive, maybe somebody can import it in large amount and make it more affordable. Seen other products similar concept like this but definitely this product is much more desirable because it fits or customize specifically for the Sportage.
*
Yup the firestorm product cost RM230 only
seems easier to try on the wallet

sure...do share with us what difference you feel after installing this device...
we sure will like to know the effect too...
*
for the price he is charging i think can try if you check out the videos about the advantage of the device with and without. Does really convince me to try since the spark intensity is stronger
also his method is different than the Korea design. That increases the voltage to 18Volts, i think that would stress the spark plug as well as generate noise for the audio system

soli...everybody....i mean it is similar to firestorm wrong type 'storm power'...

i think firestorm and the IG booster is the same technology...alternator generate same output....different is ....our spark plug not always fire...it keep the electic in the capacitor and release when needed...just like our camera flash...it use ~300v when flash..'last time open the flash and see the 300v capacitor'..but our camera power by a 3.7v battery..
100,000.00 Won = 272.703 MYR
*
I am getting the firestorm from the guy in penang when i am there next week
will give it a good test and give some feedback when i get it.

He mention the effect would be good
ANyway if you do some research there something sold by KL auto called the alternator booster, pricing i think its around Rm400. Seems to work wonders for the Hyundai Sonata's. So basically this device should work well with ours too.

*
i pass by glenmarrie, main kia branch, since tuesday i don't see much sportage just the sorento. i guess they really don't have stock considering its cny.
When i picked up my car before raya there were like 7 sportage waiting to be picked up.

I book the first week of july and got it before raya. Guess lucky and the salesman there were really good.

When I did my 1000km servicing at Kia 3S Glenmarie, the only Sportage I can see is mine  tongue.gif
Saw 3 brand new Sorentos 2.4l, all withough registration no. yet...
I think the latest delivery in end Dec, early Jan were for those who booked in August and after Raya....

Added on January 19, 2012, 1:36 pm

That is for the previous generation.
When I booked my Sportage at Kia Jln Pahang during Raya, saw a brand new old model going for 97k

Added on January 19, 2012, 1:41 pm

I paid slightly above 300 for the Alternator Booster for my Lancer as I was a regular customer at KL Auto.
Noticeable improvement:-
Quiter background on the audio system, with deeper bass.
For engine, less vibration when idling, better pickup.
Never take note on the FC though as I changed the exhaust setup after that
*
how was the unit connected? from the fuse box?
how many wires do you know?

Sorry bro, sold my Lancer already.... and the Alternator Booster also  biggrin.gif
It just looks like 1 big size capacitor wrapped in thermal material.
Des said the components inside are from Germany and I just took his words.
1 cable connected to the battery terminal (can't remember) and another to the car body (ground cable)
*
that's different, that's a parallel capacitor. What i does it helps to store energy. That's better for audio than for spark plug.
There are many german made capactiors for car. I work in the audio line but for home, we used the Mundorf Line from germany as i know its popular for car use here.

I am thinking of making one of these for my car, need that for my other car helps to stabilize the voltage during heavy current draw.
My other car is a korean GM optra, i was told the battery life suffers because the voltage is not stable. I change battery every 1 year. Its a DIN battery so its RM320 per year. I suspect the sportage would have the same issue after 5 years.
There is a guy on lowyat selling this erictioh if i am not wrong. Not going that route as the caps are from Pasar road Penang company which is not so good for deep current like our car. Going for better stuff from Japanese manufacture based in Bangi

Just feeling they take me for granted.. the latest promised from the SA is the next Tuesday 31st January sigh..

Sad to say this but you have not much choice in the matter.
If you want to change to a new car and in SUV category not much. There are vehicles with less functions and gadgets like x-trail and crv

guess have to keep on waiting. Where did you book anyway?

Bro this booster is it install at the fusebox near the engine bay one??
Can take some photo of the location
Most important is the effect...
Dont want to be conned by useless product already...
Yes the foglamp is 881 base bulb
Not recommemded to change HID as the original voltage is 27watt while hid is 35watt
You might need to add a wiring harness (relay) or some ballast that built in with warning cancellers
*
it is place in the fusebox
to install what they did is to remove the 20A fuse (yellow fuse) insert the device into the fuse holder
basically the unit is in series connected to the coil over plugs
Also before they install into the car did they a number of testing to make sure it is fitted nicely. DId a few revs to make sure product working. Reving sounds better with the unit install

so far from the day i did not drive much yet. will report more over the weekend after driving back from penang

From the initial driving experience, the engine is quieter, gear changes seem to be smoother and can rev longer and power increase a bit more.

most important if i am not satisfied with the product, i can ship it back to penang and get a refund minus postage. the seller is that confident.

Keep us updated on the Firestorm bro  thumbup.gif

Any of you guys can confirm that our fog lamp is using 881 bulb (same as Forte)?
Thinking of changing the foglight to HID but not many accessory shops sell 881 kit.

I know the headlamp and hi-beam are using H7 coz I just changed this weekend
*
just got back from penang, with the new device i get 7.8L/100km, going down without it is 8L/100km
will let you guys know about the pickup when i drive in town.

On the highways both ways was just on 6th gear doing 115km

wow, so its 12.8km/L, erm, is it better compare with D segment cars?
*
Nope, if you take the same car like the hyundai sonata or kia optima and in my driving will be lower may be slightly more only 13km/L due to less wind resistance. ITs constant 115 km where possible unless there is a jam. i drive mainly in 6th gear all the time auto cruise unless jam spots.
Both ways up and down there were jams almost stand still at certain points as traffic was heavy
average speed on our comp is 92km/h

I pump full, after i arrive back from penang the petrol line was before the 3/4 bar

one thing i like to comment apart from the petrol saving, the engine was quieter. Can't tell much on the gear change or power

QUOTE(widget @ Jan 27 2012, 04:56 PM)
From my experience, only if maintain 100-110 km/h, I can get < 9L/100km.
Once the average speed drop to <50 km/h, the FC is bad coz the car is on AWD mode.
*
Nope if below 50km then AWD can come in if its rainny or slippage
if you notice you car when raining suddenly can become very heavy then the AWD kicks in

IF you keep 110km with autocruise and climb the mountains then the engine will kick the gear down to 4th and rev hard to maintain the torque. I stick to 6th gear or do 5th when needed

As mention i get around
1) before first service was 8.8km/100km
2) after first service is 8.4-8.6/100km
3) with KNN air filter its 8/100km
4) KNN air filter and Firestorm its 7.8/100km

note kl-penang is more fuel consumption than kl johor. AS the south route is flat
