of driving at similar condition and similar driving style, tell me which non-hybrid vehicle can achieve higher mileage (except for diesel and full electric car)

Added on June 8, 2011, 11:09 am
then I guess if you drive Insight using the same technique will get you >16km/l city and over 24km/l highway tongue.gif

Added on June 8, 2011, 11:12 amjust for the record,
I get around 12 to 14km/l for ultra short trip <2km with 2 traffic lights.
While for city road 60km/h to 80km/h i get around 19 to 22km/l.

for highway at speed of 110km/h to 140km/h I get around 22 to 24km/l.

I drove it like a normal car
*
Yeah....but i save 50k-60k of the car price alone.....(not including all the electronic parts maintenance of an Insight yet)...i think i don't ever have to pay for fuel again for that kind of money...LOL. I haven't drive an Insight b4, so i won't comment on the quality and performance of the car.

I hope it's a hell lot better than a Honda City though...coz that car is just junk.

well, my average FC i get ever since I got my car was around 17-18 km/liter.
until recently I have completed 5k service, I have managed to clock around 19-20km/liter with ECO mode all the time.
driving condition was 100% city driving..if you consider LDP as highway, then its 60% city and 40% highway

actually Hybrid car save fuel mostly in city drive and slow cruising only...

yea, but long distance Highway travel save me lots of fuel too. If compare to my other car CR-V (2008) it double the mileage on highway at similar speed

Insight battery cost only USD2500 and not RM20K... tongue.gif

Furthermore the battery comes in modules. Based on most accounts, battery can be salvaged by changing the spoilt modules itself. Each module cost is only about USD70++. By salvaging this way, you have another 80km~100km additional life on top of the current 250000km. In any event, even if the battery kaput you can buy the recon @ USD500 in ebay.

People need to understand getting a hybrid car or eco friendly car is not about saving the money. It is about saving earth and being eco friendly. Reducing carbon footprint should be the main concern.

So people getting a hybrid car thinking of saving money is stupid. This has already being discussed in many thread and I hope people will understand and realize how technology is going toward being green with it's main purpose to save the environment. That also means human have to change their lifestyle to be more eco-friendly. Eg, things like stop using plastic bags that is also changing lifestyle. So when you get a hybrid car and you want to drive like typical moronic Malaysian then the only advise I can give you is.....Congratulations, you made and arse out of yourself.

Cmon lar...you think people buy Hybrid wanna save the Earth?? Everyone wanna saves fuel and money only. Get real. This is how the world works....between economical reasoning and environment protection...economical always wins each and every time.

I think this has also been discussed before, Hybrid cars are not really envinronment friendly due to the batteries which needs a lots of pollution to creates one. So in the end, you're still screwing up the Earth, just in different ways.

Wanna save the Earth? Naik basikal lar. Then i salute you.

no, I don't think so. That is why I said what I said in my last comment.

If you have half a brain, you could calculate that you don't actually save much. This calculations on car price, battery price and petrol consumption all has been discussed in other hybrid thread already. No need to repeat them here. That is why I said if you are getting hybrid to save money then you are stupid. Period.

better close this topic off lar...i can sense a lot of flames are coming
I believe most of the owners here have a thorough consideration of the pros & cons as well as comparisons before purchasing the car...so far, never heard of any whom are regretting..if there are, then it shows that that owner just did not have enough understanding of the car and had higher expectations over this 98k cbu car..

if TS would like to know about the feedback on the FC, he can always refer back to the old postings in the existing/archived discussion thread...

driving a hybrid is not really saving the Earth. Yes, it can reduce carbon production, but the battery used in hybrid car actually is very harmful to the environment, both during the production of the battery, and also the disposal of spoilt battery.

Heard about the recent hoo-hah in Kuantan regarding the rare earth processing farm? Rare earth is one of the material in producing the battery.
