I am considering buying a Wii U. Would a good place to buy it be from deanwong? If I do buy a Wii U, what are the recommended other accessories should I get? Would it be a good idea to get those rechargeable packs if I got Wiimotes as well?

Thanks for reading.

(Is this the right place to ask this question? If not, then sorry for asking it)

Don't even know that guy, what type of Wii U are you looking for? There are several bundled ones and a few others. Let me know which one you are looking for.
Not quite sure what you should get, but I got the dust stopper rubber for my Wii U to stop dust from collecting in the slots that you don't use. Also comes with rubber grips for the analog sticks.
I would recommend getting a larger battery for the Wii U gamepad but besides that nothing much to buy. Just get some Wii Mote+ and you are good. Also consider Wii U Pro Controller.
*
I am eyeing on the Mario + Luigi Wii U bundle, mostly because it's essentially two games in one.

Also, could you show me what a "dust stopper rubber" is like? Is it like one of the protective cases for protecting the gamepad? Also, would a screen protector be a good idea as well?

When you say Pro Controller, only one will do, then?

Well up to you on what Wii U you should get, but would like to recommend Zelda Wind Waker as well. Pretty awesome game if you are into things other than Mario. Mario 3D World pretty awesome though.

If I were to get the US bundles, do I need an adapter to use it? I got the impression that the package is unmodified, and thus isn't compatible to Malaysian power points.

Also another question: since I still use a traditional Sony SD TV, do I need specific composite cables?

QUOTE
I got it from Amazon JP though http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%82%B2%E3%83%BC...&keywords=wii+u

I don't use any screen protector for the gamepad and it doesn't seems to do any scratches since I only touch them with my fingers sometimes.
Essentially speaking it would be great to apply SP on the gamepad.

Looks like an interesting item. Perhaps it would be a good way to prevent dusty situations. Would a gamepad protector be useful as well?

QUOTE
I don't know bro. It's up to you for Pro Controller. Just having the gamepad is enough but if you are into extensive gameplay gamepad battery doesn't last long that is where Pro Controller gives the extra juice.
The battery for Pro Controller last pretty long like 80 hours smile.gif

I see. It seems that only one Pro Controller would do, in that case. The battery from Playzone is Japanese. Would that work well with the Wii U Gamepad from the US?

I didn't have a Wii console before, so might as well get Wii U since that's basically an upgrade. It's backwards compatible, so any Wii games could still be enjoyed (and I doubt I can find GC games anyway).

wii is better for you. wii games are a lot compare to wii u. u dont need to buy another composite cable, no need to buy wii remote as well.

I can see how it's ideal since it's convenient with everything in the package, but considering that Wii U is backwards compatible, I could still play previous Wii games on it. I could go and find new cables if necessary, as well as a few WiiMotes. Besides, if there is an HDTV available, then it's possible to use it straight away.

So I am planning on certain purchases, with this as a list (all have links except the last one):

- Mario and Luigi Bundle
- Gamepad Battery
- Pro Controller
- Extra Wiimote + Nunchuk (2)
- Wiimote Battery Packs (2) [Each has two per product, but the other is a spare]
- Gamepad Cover
- Starter Pack (mainly screen and cover)Cover Starter Pack
- Video Cable
- MY to US Power Adaptor

Other games will come later. For now, is this fine?

It's looks good but not quite sure how long it will last as in the games..
Too many accessories and less game  whistling.gif

The site you are linking is trustable?  hmm.gif

I wanted to make sure I have the necessary items first before getting to the games.

As for sites, Playzone seems like it could be trusted because it looks like a certified retailer. That seller seems to have other people trusting them, so I figured he could be trusted, though I never have done any shopping before. You're saying that there is a possibility there is a reason not to trust them?

I've read online quite sometime back that certain Gamepad Covers' (the hard kind) can scratch your Wii U Gamepad.  It's best you do research on that particular model or brand your looking for.

Btw, a friend of mine told he came across a game store in 1 Utama that sold an unofficial Wii U Console Adapter for around rm140.  He said it looked like the grey US Wii U Console Adapter except it had 3-pins (for MY wall outlets) and it was black in color.  Whether it's guaranteed to work is another question altogether. huh.gif

The shop is next to Mac City, btw.

There's also a rumor that a Mario Kart 8 Bundle (May 30th) might be release.  So if you're keen on getting a Mario bundle but can't find it maybe it's good to wait and see.
*
Thanks for the advice about gamepad covers. Maybe rough use could be a problem so that's something to consider. Unfortunately for that cover I linked, it doesn't seem to be of any particular brand. It does look rather stylish, though. Would it be safer to go for a trustworthy brand instead, like say, Hori?

You sure that adapter you are referring to is RM140? Sounds more expensive than I imagine an adapter would normally be priced. Not saying that it's impossible, but wanted to know that what you are saying isn't a typo.

For now, it looks like the Mario + Luigi bundle is still available, so I'm hoping I could get it.

QUOTE(DJ-Spike @ Apr 18 2014, 08:22 PM)
Most sellers usually have trustable vibe pre-sale.  It's the after sales service that's important, like let's say if the item you bought is defective or maybe the items you bought isn't exactly what's been describe by the seller.  How they deal with those issues is what counts.
*
So it's a good idea to inquire about the product's warranty and guarantees to the seller, then. Is that the best way to check?

Thanks for reading.

I haven't gotten my Wii U yet, but if I were to set it up, what considerations do I need to do?

I heard about setting up the country, and how it's best to set it to US (for the eShop benefits mainly). If I were to do this, am I stuck with the US tag?

Also, if I were to do a system update, how long would that take?

Since I might get it today or tomorrow, it's too bad I missed out on the Super Mario Galaxy 2 promotion.

I haven't got any eShop credit to do that, and it will take some time to get the code, so I am still unsure about how I'm getting it. Is setting up online easy?

System update is freakishly slow....it took me what...4 hours+ including installation....download 3 hours at least....but someone mentioned if you have Super Mario 3D World, you can pop in that disc and it has the system update on the disc, hence will reduce a lot of downloading time. You can try and see. For me, everything has to update...Netflix, Hulu, dunno what else....download and then install...i think total maybe 5 hours...really potong steam...(doesn't matter how fast your internet...i boost my TIME to 50Mbps also still pretty much the same..)

You still can softmod your Wii mode to play off from hard disk btw...rolleyes.gif

Is the latest system update safe? I heard of some accounts of problems involving Smash Bros. and something else (I forgot).

Also, what do you mean by softmod to play off from hard disk?

Did any of you create a Club Nintendo account, even in Malaysia? If yes, what did you put in your details, and is it alright if it's inserted? Is the information transferred to the new loyalty programme?

In terms of getting retail games, I find Deanwong from Lelong to be the most reliable source for Wii U games, based on my search. Others that are OK include Saveall and Impulse, since they have a few games that are cheaper than some of Deanwong's offerings. Online Game Store looks to have nice deals with games, but it seems that the ones I want are out of stock already.

Curve Studios is currently having a discount. I got Stealth Inc. 2, but now I am not sure what should I get between The Swapper and Lone Survivor. Any suggestions?

I have to agree that physical copies seem hard to get, especially if you are getting it physically. Even in online, you have to look around and see if the suppliers have any, because the cheaper ones are hard to come by.

Has anybody bought Wii U games from e-Playzone? If yes, what do you think of that place? I've recently ordered a bunch of stuff there, but it seems that some of the things I ordered do not have stock (only two have stock as of now). I haven't gotten them as I prefer to get them one shot, since I do have quite a number of games already, so I can wait.

On another note, has anybody here played WarioWare: Smooth Moves? I heard it's a very good game, but it seems that nobody really sells that in Malaysia? Is there a possibility it becomes available in the eShop?

Thanks for reading.
