Hi,

I have been to Japan quite a bit, here is how i would budget
1) Food : 2 X 6 X 5000 = 120K, is about correct but if you want to save, realistically, McD set cost you about 6-700 yen. I would say 1K yen is good per meal... of course in Kyoto they are famous for their Kaiseki.... can go up to 30-40K per person
2) Travel within Kyoto = Take the bus! its about less than 1K person... so only 12K at the most for 2 ppl
3) Admissions, Within Kyoto, Entrance fee is abotu 500 per pax, so I think for temples, (i have been to many), after you seen afew, THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME, however, depending on your time of visit, Koyo season is around the corner, they may have light ups in some temples... do research, I would say budget about 5K per person for temples... unless you want to go to the Theme park where ppl dress up like ninja etc... most things that is interesting to see in Kyoto is free...
4) Kyoto Ryokan are expensive, not sure if you can do it for 66K for 6 nights.... thats 11K per night. you may get some hostels online... if u go cheap, and u need a private room for 2, i can sat its about 10K for 2 person... not ryokans... but hostels.

6 days maybe overkill for just Kyoto, There are only so much temples you can visit... Kansai region has alot alot to offer... i would recommend, extending your trip to 10-14 days, travel further south.... Osaka for 1 -2 days, (Osaka nothing much to see but good as a base), Kobe, Nara, Hiroshima (There is a the Miyajima island, where they have the floating shrine + Momiji Dani (perfect for Koyo season))
TO do this, invest in a JR WEST pass... search for discount/special offers, usually around this time there is.
