Hi,

I've been asking around and most of the window dealer/contractor said at least $3-4k to install this type of window.
I'm looking not more than $1k.

I don't need good and expensive material. I just want a window that has no other features but a window.

Obviously the cost of the window depending on the size of it. I am not sure what is your dimension so can't comment on the price. One thing for sure if you have a large area it won't be cheap even with standard casement window.

Mine is 8x6ft and 8x4ft for the kitchen and is definitely more than that!

Aluminum window is depends mainly on this items :-

A) Aluminium profile and thickness

B) aluminum coating (powder coated, N.A or etc)

C) glazing thickness and tinted

Maybe you can ask your contractor to specified this items prior making any decision..

Hope this help.. Cheers

My experience is that the cost depends on A and C but B seems to be not much different.

Few more thing to take note :-

A) quantity of the window

B) location as well as the height of the window location

By the way, how about hacking and demolition of the existing wall? Included?

you didn't mention any dimension, but i just made one for my toilet push up from bottom to top .. got my indonesian guy to do it .. the glass panel cost rm110 .. plus workmanship another 50-80 bucks ...

i also got a quote from reliance metal industries recently,

size 30" x 60" rm550
size 30 x 69 rm695
size 30 x 37 rm280

this is customized size for my drying area which is currently just using grilles.

i have yet to compare the prices with other alternatives.

The boss'a name is Tam Poon Sing, an elderly hakka man. 019-2102492.

On hindsight, the price for the larger window -- which i did only a replacement glass which cracked, cost rm190 much more than a totally new much smaller toilet window at rm110. But i am happy with the overall price.

Try to nego. This was my first time there, for your info. smile.gif

Parking is a real prob by the way. wink.gif

Happy renovating!

thanks for sharing guys, luckily I yet to commit during the exhibition, looks like it is not as expensive as what I have been quoted.

alhs76,

So are u going with reliance metal industries to customize a glass windows for your drying area?

How about Hook Sing Aluminium & Glass Trading, they able to customize the glass windows rite?

I am planing to do the same for your my yard as well, the measurement is

92"(H) x 74"(W) , wanted to do either 3 or 4 sliding panels. Will pay Hock Sing Aluminium & Glass Trading for a quotation.

thanks

i actually purchased a shower screen from reliance during homedec, i must say that it is one of the cheapest including installation that also comes with a magnet. I requested the quote for the drying area as i am staying in a condo and i think i may actually go with reliance as i thought that they would be more reliable in terms of safety aspect as opposed to doing it on my own and getting my indonesian workers to install it. All other non-critical area, i just get my indonesians to do it.

Hook Sing would be good for all others, like window area, fixed panels etc.

happy renovating! rclxms.gif biggrin.gif

Hi I was quoted for change my sliding door unit to 3 panel 2 x 5 window for 950 + 180 (hacking wall). Window is those standard aluminium w/o coating.
I not sure how much the window it self cost, bcoz it includes bricking and plastering. My existing sliding door is 2 panel with 2 x 7.
Can we salvage the sliding door?

Hi there,

Powder coating is the finishes applied to the Aluminium frame..

Let me share some of my humble opinion in regards to Aluminium works :-

Fnishes - Natural Anodised, Powder Coated and Bronze Analogue or etc.

Glazing - Float glass, obscure glass, wired glass, laminated glass, tempered glass and etc.

All the above type have different cost. Hope this work with everyone herewith.

Cheers

With same thickness of Temper and Lami, the temper is much stronger, but once broken it will break into smaller pieces. Lami glass is weaker, when break it will stick on the position.

If laminated glass, the thickness might be 6.38mm.. The 0.38mm thickness was the PV glue thickness..

For laminated if you tumbuk, it will peach but will still hang-on because of the glue.

For tempered, I guess is very difficult to tumbuk Lo..
