My first cook rom flash : AngeloM XWKE7 1.4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104385

Remember to wipe cacahe partition before flash ( Just go to recovery mode to do it )

Few hours already on it, didn't see any issues/bugs yet. Phone's performance seems slicker/smoother. The XDA site still points to ver 1.2 but if you go to the alternative download link, you can select 1.4

These are the quadrant scores: 3851, 3905

Belum tahu battery life ; just few hours on it.
I forgot to mention, when you flash this rom, ClockworkMod Recovery 3.0.0.5 comes together with it. With it, now one can do a nandroid backup

Which quadrant score belong to AngeloM rom? Noticed that Memory and 3D dropped in 3905 result.
*
Both are AngeloM - I just post the best 2 numbers out of 3 runs

is it true that sgs2 only allocate 2GB for apps install?...
*
Depend on type of apps you can install up to 400 to 500 apps on the 2gb partition which is more than enough for most users. Apps eg games data, newsfeed, dictonaries, reference stuff support data etc are downloaded in the other about 12gb partition of the internal flash memory

The softer volume is HTC signature. I have used so many HTC phones since windows mobiles, all similar. I overcome it by assigning own ringtone which is louder than default and set ringtone vol maximum

any idea if this is a defect or a design? if design, then what the heck is the use of front facing camera if cannot make 3g video calls?

it's an 'important' function for me. thank goodness i din get that phone. can i assume the 3g video call function is available on sgs2?
*
You can use 3rd party app eg tango or Fring to do video calls on the HTC

Update on AngeloM 1.4 battery life: As my phone is always being charged whenever possible, I do not really monitor the battery usage during daytime.

My best reference point is overnight usage from midnight to 7am. Before flash this rom, the battery usage drops by 30 to 35% consistently ( on all the rom builds KDD, KE2 and KE7 ) . During this period 3G is on and in background are active refresh/updates :

3 Email accounts - every 15 mins
Newsfeed ( Newsroom, Greader Pro ), Tweeter ( Twidroyd) - every hour
Weather - every 4 hours

If I turned these off, it drops only by 5% the most

On AngeloM KE7 1.4 : the drop overnight is about 20 % , an improvement of 10 to 15 %

Can I know the reason behind why you keep your phone charge whenever possible?  laugh.gif
*
My habit ; it is always being charge in the car. It is always being charged when at my desk. So I never need to worry about battery dying out . Anyway I always have 2 spare batteries ( for emergency ) but for this phone, haven't buy yet. Temporary I have a microUSB 1900maH external plugin battery pack which I posted several pages back ( or checkup page one under Accessories)

Hi Benny, how to wipe cacahe partition before flash to AngeloM ?
This ROM will not wipe data/apps right?
*
Just go to recovery mode ( press Vol UP-Centre button-Power simultaneously ) - select clear cache partition

The rom upgrade will NOT delete/clear any of the data

Will it damage the battery if you charge your phone like this?  hmm.gif
*
NO . I have doing these for the past several years . All modern batteries has chip that detect full charge and auto cutoff. Exception are those cheap generic batteries which cost RM 20 and below , which most probably do not have such chip builtin. This is why when I buy spare batteries I buy the better types - Momax, Mugen ( these cost average RM 90 to RM 120 each ) and not those US$3-US$5 type, which even now plenty you can find on EBay for this SGS II

That comes builtin with the AngeloM rom ( the circular indicator, the 3G with the arrows )
The leftmost battery indicator ( now I already removed ) is from Battery Indicator Pro

flash stock ke7
flash angeloM rom
flash stock kernel
*
Actually you can just flash directly without the first step.
I do not flash stock kernel as I see no point as I will always be upgrading the roms - the yellow triangle during bootup I can live with it

Ok..but why don't you get back original Samsung battery? or HTC battery for HTC phone?  hmm.gif

Very difficult to find Samsung Original online and in shops . HTC original I can find usually at Spore but very expensive - eg HTC HD n HD2, I last bought costs me S$99 each

So you prefer high quality branded third party battery? erm..I think I wont going to get extra battery but I will definitely get car charger for SGS II..what car charger you using now?
*
I have 2 car chargers - a 1000mA McKal ( used it for many of my phones ) and a iPAD/iphone 2100 mAh USB charger . I used these two randomly. These chargers i bought in Spore cost me about S$60+ . Stay away from cheap generic chargers that usually cost RM 10-30 - I never trust these cheap stuffs. Always believe don't be penny wise and pound foolish - I am sure you don't want to fry your RM 2K phone using cheap unreliable suspect quality stuffs
The SGS II needs a minimum 500mAH input to charge it

Prices will always drop. If you want the best bang for your bucks, don't even bother to check it now. Check it up in 3 months time and I am very sure you will like the price; probably AP RM 1.5K and original 1.8K only

If you are desperate and really need the phone now, I'd say the prices are really reasonable now. Imagine the early buyers who had paid a higher premium for it than

Those looking for a nice user experience/beautiful dazzling user interface : HTC Sensation. Recommended for new user

SGS II interface Touch Wiz SUCKS big time ; I replace it in the first minute I use the phone. This phone will be a dream for those who like to tinker with its kernel, roms, theming , getting the extra mile out of it etc - an enthusiast phone

Both phones are equally good - will do the job well. Just try and debate which is a better car : Civic or Corolla, Camry or Accord, BM or Benz - same scenario. You won't go wrong buying any of them

i just wanna comment on the exterior design = shit, but it worth the price of buying it consider it has dual core and nice screen (wont be blacken when sunlight is scorching against it), but once again, the design is shit
*
You want design buy xperia arc but performance is very " shit " vs SGS II. I have used the Xperia Arc and is even worse than Incredible S

now to look for a microSD card and to find a way to kill the news, yahoo finance and weather widgets - anyone can help?

You need to have Chainfire ClockworkMod recovery installed.Boot phone in recovery mode and just flash the zip file - no need to use Odin

If you have installed earlier versions from AngeloM - this recovery is already install

If you are using other roms probably this Clockwork recovery is not there - install through odin than - checkup the link at XDA SGS II Android development thread
