QUOTE(yolk @ Jun 14 2011, 09:17 AM)
just wondering if android os consumes the most power when viewing the battery usage ? compared with a friends incredible s and it usually is the display ..
*
It is usually display that consumes the most battery usage
Android OS n android system can be reduced using cook roms. Default Rom takes a big portion sometimes up to 20 to 30 %. On cook Rom averages 5 to 10%

i dun think so =-/ it oni can revive ur dead phone. correct me if i'm mistaken =D
*
The usb jig helps to revive phone and enable it back to either recovery or download mode. If your phone can boot into recovery or download mode no need to use the jig
The jig will also erase all records of previous Rom flashes so you start from base 1.
For the user whose phone was stuck, just switch it off. Go to download mode and connect to pc. Launch odin and just flash back the Rom. His Rom is available for download at xda
No need to use jig

Sudden reboots and shutdown are usually due to third party apps of dubious sources. Take away these apps and you will not see such issues. There are many sources of such apps the worst is the blackmarket. Install these apps and only blame yourself don't blame the phone. Have seen too much of such cases on my friends units who likes to download from such sources

I'm a little confused, cause I have the following for my phone;
PDA: I9100XXKE2
CSC: I9100OXAKE2
Phone: I9100XXKE2
So does this mean I can't flash with anything related to XWKE?
*
You can flash any Rom. No worry about it. Just study the guide first how to do it. K E2 is one of the earlier roms, latest is now ke8

Sometimes it just take an extra inch effort to find what you need. I will consider a non spoonfeed question if the user explain what he has done before and not just ask a pointblank question of HOW, WHERE and WHY.
Today alone I receive 3 pm asking me link to AngeloM rom 1.7 but I still answer it having posted in few times and is listed in page1
I have seen, met, talk to so many types of people in my last 40 years working and I think one should know how to portray yourself if you need help and show you has put in effort to try by the way question are asked

Err... anyone facing issues with USB debugging? Mine doesn't seems connected. My PC shows 2 removable disk but can't click on them...
Anything that I missed out? I did install Kies
*
That shows failed installation of the drivers. kIES is unreliable and buggy. Google for Samsung usb phone drivers and install it instead

Official launch date already known on 22jun to 26jun at midvalley. No more guessing on price and availability. This phone deserves even rm2.5k if retail without contract
I have been using it 1.5 months and it has never freeze, hang, restart, auto shutdown on me. I must say is close to perfect smartphone. I have used several type of androids and must say this model is just unbelievably great. Only issue is slightly poorer battery life and more warmer when heavily used with temperature hovering in 40's to 45 ( as portable hotspot)

So flash to lighting rom 1.4 will not wipe anything or lose data right?
why on your last post you said will wipe data?
*
Normal rom flashes will not wipe data unless you have selected repartition in odin. This has been mentioned several times and yet some others are repeatedly too asking same questions
And this is also always stated in the rom developer thread

You are asking a question which everyone is just giving a wild guess on the answer. Just pop over on launch date and you will know.

in that case i need to flash CF kernal?
*
Yes you need to have recovery installed. I must say if one is into rom flashing having a recovery installed is compulsory . The recovery will allow you to have a full backup n restore
You can install chainfire now should be ver 4. I am still using ver 3.7

Hi everyone, I am a new owner of SGS2..

Got a big problem..

Just yesterday..i charged my phone fully. WHen i wake up this morning, it was 5% left. I checked and found out wifi sharing was draining the battery.

Anyone faced such drastic drop? I never enable wifi sharing..
I freezed the wifi sharing using titanium backup. Some say flash angelorom. Wanna ask sifu opinion here smile.gif
*
That is crazy drop. My unit averages 30% drop from midnight to 7am with active refresh and updates on email, rss, tweeter, newsfeed. If I switch off 3g it drops max 5% only
Suggest you monitor one more day. If similar results could be battery defective. It is unlikely WiFi sharing affects so much usage it should be about few % only when running in background
The last angeloM ROM disable this and not installed. You need to flash a separate zip from recovery to enable wifisharing

Did you have micosoftnet framework installed at least ver 2. Now test with another usb cable to eliminate micro usb connector failure

This is also a good one. But consider the courier charges as Amazon rates are crazy higher than others. Get the yoobao 6000mah only rm135 from lelong which is proven good and reliable
