The most important is to get the air ticket. That can be 9mth to a year before time for those wanna grab the cheapest options offer by any budget or even full fledge airlines.. Thereafter ~ 2mths -1mth b4 the trip start researching & planning for accomodation. I normally do this 1mth b4 

I am going to taiwan on 25th Nov.12 till 04th.Dec.12 with 13 others, due to a big group it had to be well planed,so I
had already booked a tour guide and thru' him I reserved all the hotel and minsu without paying a single cents for deposit,base on trust. and I choose all the favourable spot of tourist to visit, the guide will lead us all the way with two vans, and after calculation I feel the price we pay is quite reasonable, for 80,000twd it cover transport and guide for 6 days (round the clock) for 14 people.( you may get 1 van for 6-7people) If you divide out, it cost you
only 952twd/person/day. you save time and all the trouble.somemore  with the help of local guide, he will take you to taste the best local foodstaff.how nice? If you interested I may post up my itinerary but its in chinese (I'm lazy to translate, coz all the while I comunicate with the guide in chinese,unless many people requested.)

should be okay..you can always store your luggage at hostel/hotel..

yeah unless u wanna carry it. alternatively you can store your luggage at taipei main station. they have a lot lockers, big and small at a small fee. best time to go would be in the morning or afternoon. shi fen n jiu fen should be done in one day. travel time about 2-3 hours.

Your day 3 & 4 looks quite free.  Unless u doing serious hiking at taroko.
You should go yehliu first, then jiu fen then shifen(release lantern around evening) then go keelungfor night market

Erm dont think so. The most is long sleeve shirt. Those I love Taiwan probably have la at Giordano.
Jiu fen at night n morning different one leh. At night most shops are closed. Just enjoy the night scenery n enjoy tea. Afternoon the streets will be bustling with activities.

ohhh. then u better don store luggage at taipei main station lor. because the train moves from taipei main station > kee lung > rui fang (jiu fen) > yilan line > hualien. it will be a hassle to travel back and forth.

oh u taking taroko is it? then different story la. that normal train trip would be around 35-40 minutes.

nolah that ticket damn hard to get one. very fast sold out. good luck to you if u plan to aim for that ticket.

I checked online Taroko express, still got available seat for my desired date.

But in the website it mentioned ticket due date collection is 3 days. But I will be only at Taipei next Monday.

but if plane delay , then u hard to estimate ur time

but i get to know ..u can purchase the hsr tic in advance 1st..if u miss the train..u can take the next train..but mz be on the same day lo
