I engaged a cab. Was told the bus drivers drive very dangerously & fast along the mountain areas. Not recommended.Travel Taiwan V2, Refer to pg 1 for compiled guides

QUOTE(jobneed @ Feb 28 2013, 04:51 PM) It depends on location. Standard rate for most taxi drivers in Taipei area is NT3000 to 3500. If want to cover hualien, Taichung, Tainan, kaoshiong then of course more expensive bcos far distance. U can whatsapp or email him for quotation. Just say Jessica lee from Msia recommends. I booked him for my 2 days Taichung trip last month & he is excellent! Honest, trustworthy, won't take advantage and earn extra money from you. Plus he will accompany u to walk around & buy lotsa local snacks for you out of his own pocket. Hope this helps. |

QUOTE(mrsaimun @ Mar 20 2013, 02:07 PM) Yes, booking it in Agoda.com is much better, you can choose the hotels that you like according to your budget. Another way to save money, time & enjoy is to book a personal cab driver (which is quite common nowadays especially for small & big family) to take u around Taiwan. Price range is between $3000 to $4000 a day depending on location & more expensive if u go further like hualien, Tainan, Taichung. But definitely worth every cent! Option 1: Going yourself If you go yourself, plan and book everything, you need to spend time on it. You need to do homework, check which hotel has good review and how to go certain places and where to go to. Most of us actually enjoy the process, and loves it. Requires lots of time and sometimes saves lots of money. Good for couples and small family. Option 2: Follow tour group This will save time but you can't save much $$$ and you don't have the freedom. Everything is plan out by the tour agent from the airport all the way until you are back. Suitable for big family or family with elders. Option 3: Mix Option 1 and Option 2. Book your own flight and hotel, take local tour package (half day/full day) my 2 cents I'm glad I booked a driver when I went there with hubby |

QUOTE(siauann @ Mar 21 2013, 09:42 AM) i ask few drivers. usually for one whole day cost around NT$4500-5500 for hualien/tainan/taichung area. for taipei area public transport are easily accessible. driver also cost much lesser which is around NT$3000-3800 range depending on how far the place. all this is based on my research and the quote that i get Outside Taipei is usually expensive cos the distance from one place to another is quite far, unlike Taipei. up till date i still have not finalise and book my driver and hotel If got more people, then u can share the cost. Better book hotel or minsu fast. I recommend near Taipei main station or XMD. I stay at hope hotel which is opposite Taipei main station. Very convenient to take bus & train. And the malls inside the station got lots of stuff to see & buy. 1500 for weekdays & 1800 for weekend, double bed but no bfast. This post has been edited by sugarbaby: Mar 21 2013, 02:14 PM |

QUOTE(smwah @ Mar 25 2013, 08:55 AM) Hi sugarbaby, need your advice. It is 3 days 2 nites can cover Taichung, SunMoonlake and Qingjin? I think 3d 2n is enough to cover Taichung, SML, Cingjing & other places in nantou. Distance from one place to another is more than easily 1-2 hrs, depending on your driver's speed. Those areas are prone to accidents, so better get a careful driver. How far is between these 3 place? I intend to add in for Alisan or Hualian on the 4th day. Any advice? How is the cabby arrangement? the cabby bring u whole day and wait you next morning at hotel for next trip? I wil be going 28 apr to 6 may, 2 pax. 28 apr reached airport, --> taichung overnite, recomend area jln jln at taichung. how is the transport? train? cab? bus? 29 apr arrange cab tour go sun moonlake overnite at SML? or go qingjing over? 30 apr same cab tour go qingjing next day trip will go hualian or alisan? should i go overnite either these 2 places or stay at the same place SML/QJ then move next morning. 1 may move to hualian or alishan? I will have 1 1/2 days to spend at one of this place. Do I need cabby tour for these area? 2 may move to taipe at late afternoon. chck in taipei, jln jln My depart to KL is on 6 May. Better stay in one place or move around? I am thinking overnite jiufen area. Got any place private hotspring recomend? Tq...... Add in 1 more day to hualien. For me, I find hualien is interesting for taroko gorge, chitsingtan beach & hualien town area only. U definitely need a driver in hualien cos there's no MTR & busses are very seldom. Taroko gorge is amazingly huge & very beautiful, with lots of rocks formation, clear blue green rivers & fresh air. I went to hehuanshan snow mountain. It was very very cold in mid Jan & very beautiful view. I didn't go to alishan. The driver that I booked drove me around all these places, walked with me, be my tour guide explaining abt the places histories & bought lotsa yummy local snacks for me. At first I thought of taking HSR to Taichung & then engage driver / book local tour bus. But to save the hassle of rushing to the train station, I prefer the driver to pickup & send us back to Taipei. The HSR fare is not cheap though, but if u wana experience high speed bullet train then u may try. This post has been edited by sugarbaby: Mar 25 2013, 10:08 PM |

QUOTE(Icehart @ Mar 25 2013, 11:41 PM) In the end it's all about budget airline vs full fledged airline. I'll choose MAS too. AAX seat is small & uncomfortable. I'm small sized, yet I have muscle cramps on my night flight back to KL & can't sleep at all. Suffer man!for me worth it considering i got 30kg luggage allowance, in flight meal and much better seating room. and oh check in klia, just ride express train enough |
