save 400 and use your 3g phone for wifi hotspot..done.

if i can hotspot my iphone, i would just use my iphone's internet rather than burning the batt just to use the ipad.
i am totally in that situation by buying just the wifi.regretful.

agreed that N8 stock browser suck big time, I prefer to use Opera for lite browsing since its more faster, if I have my iPad 2 with me along with my N8 I just tether the connection to my iPad 2 and browse in a bigger screen, plus Safari in iPad 2 is awesomely fast

btw i'm also using iPad 2 Wifi only version.

Working fine using JoikuSpot Premium, so I can set password for the hotspot, don't want any pesky user using my connection for free and eating bandwidth

About the battery, it does drain the battery dry if you are using it like nonstop for 4 hours.. I just use it around max 2 hours per day since I'm not connecting to the net using my iPad 2 nonstop, only if I want to browse the net at the office.

I used to be in the same boat as you, TS.

Now my iPad 2 Wifi is for sale since I just got my iPad 2 3G+Wifi.

The convenience of using 3G is just priceless.

If you want to save money and if your iPad 2 is mostly for surfing and gaming, better just get the Wifi-only version as the 3G+Wifi version will not be cost-effective.

However, if you are using for work, email and productive stuff, go for the 3G+Wifi version. Period. I did, and I will never look back!

p/s: I also have an iPhone 4 with a data plan, and I did the iPhone 4 + Wifi tethering to iPad 2. But it was such a hassle and my iPhone 4 didn't have enough juice to go through the day in tethering-mode.

Make sure the current internet connection is not being use by other apps such as email, browser.. then try to start the hotspot again, sometimes it will take around 2-3 tries before it will start 

My office also provide wifi, but "some" sites are blocked    no choice but to use my N8 as a hotspot
