Been thinking for quite sometime still can't figure out the answer.

Normally what kind of weight u guys buy?standard or the olympic 1?because i'm thinking about buying standard weights for current usage on my ezybar, but if i reach a lvl that i need an olympic bar, then all my old weights will be useless as the hole is not large enough? Is olympic bar necessary or just a standard bar will be enough? Normally what kind or bar and weights u guys use for your home gym? And can standard bar fit in a standard powerack if i get 1 next time? How much weight that u guys have at home for your gym? Please discuss as i don't want to invest in the wrong items. Thank you very much again.

How much does oly bar cost? and compare standard to oly weights what is the price different? i scare that later if reach certain level my standard bar bend, then when i need to change to oly my weights all cannot use.

I'm a 175cm 65kg male, approximately how heavy can a standard person lift, trying to figure out how much weight will i need in near future?? Can all rack fit standard bar?or most rack is design for olympic bar? i'm aiming for a very lean body, definitely not big. Can anyone help to estimate that how much weight should i start from and how much weights that i need to buy for the future? Should i buy standard weights or olympic weights?

1 more question, if in the future i can bench 100kg(cincai say only) and i like my body at that time and want to maintain it, what should i do?do i need to keep increase weight little by little?or keep lifting the same weight?

But if 1 or 2 years gym membership can buy a home gym, then i think i better buy the oly bar since its for long term. Nowdays how much is a decent price for good olympic bar(if there is any difference) & oly weights per kg, where to buy them cheaper besides fitness concept(i stay near ikano)? and where can i get some heavier oly weights?

I've been googling some power rack and squat rack information, and i still don't really understand what is the different between them. I even tried to wikipedia and it says power rack, squat rack, power cage all same thing. Some people in other forums also said that power rack better because safer......now i'm even more confuse.

Thanks Ijnek for suggesting me to join a gym, but i'm more interested to build a small and efficient home gym as its more cost efficient for long term.

Oly bar RM 2-400.

if you have RM 1500, you can get Oly bar complete with plate tree with weights(2nd hand). its just iron, no need for total new one imho

hey,bro saw lots of your posts.

In short, if u r determined to get a home gym then buy standard barbell.

If u wan oly bar,get gym membership then u dun hav to worry.

For ur questions...

I will say that in lifting/squating/benching, our max weight may increase, but we wun working out with the max all the time.

U see people able to bench 300lbs,but in their routine most of the time they are still bench with 200 plus lbs and 100 plus lbs as warm-up set.

And when you getting more and more advance,u find ur lift/squat and bench has different poundage, and that's the time where having light and heavy plates useful.

For me,if i have a gym nearby and i have the time,I will definitely choose going to gym.Have your own selection of weights without adjusting your db and bar's weight. You can even play with machines, kettlebells and maximise result with cardio (treadmills, bikes and stairs).

Home gym is good if you are able to manufacture and made your own stuff.
If you want to set up a home gym by buying equipments,it cause u lots money and space.

i think for now i will go those rm5 per entry gym at community center, then from there i will know how much weight i need and what equipment is necessary or not.Do u know where can i manufacture all these gym stuffs?actually what do i need to manufacture except for the powerack/cage? Is the oly weight alot more expensive compare to standard?

Thanks alot van for your answers, really help me to understand alot.
