I have problem with my 4820tg, if I close my laptop's lid, the lid doesn't properly stick to the laptop's body, there's a bit gap, it's like the lid is hanging, so I need to press the lid near the hinges there to make sure it close properly. Anyone having this problem? Can I claim warranty or send it for fix? thanks

today I woke up, suddenly my laptop cannot boot anymore. before this already got some weird dialog prompt in windows regarding the hard disk.
I tried enter the BIOS, the only way I could boot is by changing the controller to IDE instead of AHCI.

When tried to enter windows.. got BSOD in split sec and then my laptop restart again. I tried to use the Acer recover to restore the default Windows, but setup failed because issue with my hardware.

Then I tried enter to Ubuntu using usb thumbdrive, Disk Utility reporting , SMART status: DISK FAILURE IS IMMINENT
So I'm assuming that my hdd going kaput soon, now doing backup to my ext hdd.
Anyone know what's wrong, my hdd cannot be saved ah? to add more pain, my laptop warranty just ended 12/7 sad.gif is this include HDD warranty?

OMG!  doh.gif As you already diagnosed, it's probably bad sectors in HDD.

Possible cause including moving your notebook when there is disk activity. This including moving it before the stand-by or hibernation finish...

If you can still backup, you are not losing much. HDD is cheap these days...

yeah..dat's what i suspected. I have just checked my warranty online, seems like my warranty suppose to end this Dec. Can I claim Acer to replace my HDD with new one?

Mine is silver. Why not ask them fix it the last time? If warranty expired, too late liao

the service center guy said, they purposely rushing to complete all the cases before raya. for my warranty, I still got time. I got to play with the new color lid during raya, if still not satisfied or doesn't meet my style tongue.gif ..then I still can get them replaced

if it not appear, may be becoz u are still using old version of Intel driver. Check in Intel information to make sure your driver is intel 8.15.10.2189 or later.

oh ok. thanks.

IINM, in the BIOS, the options available are to switch to Switchable or Discrete. But, is there option to just stick with Intel graphics only? correct me
