I did try calling Digi about this and explain to them that after their upgrade/changes they somehow forget about allow/forwarding the GRE packet.
Some how all the level 1 & level 2 support staff don't have any clue of what I'm saying. I asked to talk to their technical network engineer but keep on putting in a loop and saying that DIGI doesn't support VPN which is very stupid since we are not using DIGI VPN services we are using their Internet connection and also the PPTP VPN worked fine all this while before their make the upgrade/changes

There's no reason for them (MAXIS) for blocking PPTP VPN. Some people do need PPTP VPN to connect to their office to do work.
This is not some P2P or illegal activities. Maybe they got confused between P2P and PPTP sad.gif

I don't think they gonna do anything about it since it doesn't really affect a lot of users.
They just closed my case today saying the issue has be "rectified". Rectified here means anything but resolved.
It means that they(the engineers) now know about the issue (engineers: oopss sorry about that) when they did the network upgrades a couple months back and they won't do shit about it.
They (DIGI) can do what ever their want. They can simply say we no longer support VPN.
Maybe 5 years from now they will say we no longer support HTTP.

And I'm stuck with a 2 years contract with this bullshit.

What we need is to open as much as many tickets/cases possible to make this issue their uttermost priority.....

I am same with you which stuck with the 2 years contract and still have 1 more year to go sad.gif. This is very frustratuated and I have just sign up with Yes 4G today. Luckily pptp on Yes 4G is working now, hope they won't block it in near future as Digi and maxis.

So far still pleased with Yes 4G, can get up to 10mbps in my area. It is still expensive compare with Digi and further more now I have to pay both Yes and Digi until contract end.

I never try PPTP before but OpenVPN is working alright with Digi. I temporary doesn't have Maxis and Celcom broadband at hand so I can't test it. I use OpenVPN to connect to Home Network and VPS both working excellently.

I don't thing there's any reason to block PPTP. Maybe they (Digi Engineer) forgotten to allow PPTP pass-through over their network. If your system can support OpenVPN (which quite versatile) you may use it temporary as I am sure OpenVPN is alright as I am using it right now.

As for my personal opinion I hope Digi stop blocking any type of traffic doesn't matter it's P2P, VPN, IM etc as Mobile Broadband was allocated with certain amount of bandwidth for customer to use. In other word customer was paying for the bandwidth allocated to them. Customer have the right to use those bandwidth how-ever they prefer. It make me feel that Digi is like over selling their Mobile Broadband until it need to limit what's their customer was using.

I am also facing issues with both DiGi and Maxis mobile broadband when it comes to PPTP VPN connections. I can tell you my experience between DiGi and Maxis. Guess who turns out the best and gotten my issues resolved within max 3 days?

Answer is ==> MAXIS

The 1st level get their 2nd level to contact me and within 3 days (follow up in between), they have assisted me with the issue and I am able to connect via PPTP VPN.

Correct question to ask 2nd level onwards: Check if your ISP enabled GRE Internet Protocol 47 to allow PPTP dial-up connection

Symptoms: Usually a successful connection for just PPTP port 1723 can be seen from the server recognizing the dial-up. But it will usually fail in the authentication portion due to the GRE Internet Protocol 47 not enabled by ISP. Remember this is not Port 47, but rather the name of the protocol.

I have resolved my issue with Maxis with the correct workaround but as until today... i think around 1-2 weeks liao... i have yet to get an answer from DiGi in regards to my PPTP connection... I'm on their DG Smart Plan.... truly disappointing.... doh.gif

Sigh...

Hi,

Today i have chat with one of digi support ask with pptp problem . They told me to get your It department to
fix the problem, and said digi have no problem with pptp. I told the support that i have use celcom with the
same device and setting, and they was no problem with pptp.

Do u know how the support answer me.
" get your It department to fix the problem" rclxub.gif

and i told them again i re paste my question again.
again reply "get your It department to fix the problem" rclxub.gif
" digi do not provide vpn service"

Digi is 100% blocked vpn service/ even try l2tp also failed, They will keep ignore everything u ask about vpn.
They will just pushing to other thing?

Very very disappointed with DIGI and i have my company with so many line with digi looking to switch to celcom,

Yes,
Same scenario, escalate to 2nd level but the guy also don't know what is ms pptp vpn.sigh...
Ask them to open tcp port 1723 and allow gre ip protocol 47 also don't know how to do it.
I changed to maxis last week, it took 2days support and done.now can access vpn to office without problem.
As far as I concern, mcmc instruct telcos to block vpn access.
Only allow them by request.
Summore, after access granted, you need to change your apn and username password

I called DiGi and they don't even know what's VPN, and kept on saying they do not block anything and blaming my phone problem. The same phone (HTC Incredible S) could connect to VPN if I put Umobile sim card in it.

I suggest bring your notebook, huawei modem, digi sim card + other telco sim card which PPTP/L2TP/OpenVPN that works.

Show them face 2 face in the DiGi center.
