D= I feel like getting more too. Mini tanks are so expensive to buy, though it looks so nice to put marimos in it. ><" I saw one pretty tiny tank that comes with filter and light 2/3 ft x 2/3ft cause around RM130. =_= Crazy pricing.

Maybe I can find some cheap tank. I think my old filter still works. Chiller too. ><" Even a wee bit better looking tanks cost RM50 =_=. Dang. Maybe I can keep some fish along with it. ~_~"

It looks even more yellowish now. Usually how long to keep in fridge? Since it won't be getting any light.

Leeyung, I've already taken my marimo out of the fridge since it's been nearly 48 hours. It looks the same, but seems like it made the water less yellowish (I did water changes in between). Is it getting better? And it still carries that smell, like some squashed vegetables. What else can I do to help it?

![]() ![]() ![]() Sigh...guess my marimo dying. Or already dead. Sad. I tried the ways to save it already. The nano now ripped itself apart. And the giant looks crazy yellow. I guess marimo ain't suitable to travel long distance and keep in such as way. =_='' Didn't even get the chance to see it healthy and bloom. |

QUOTE(r3apers @ Aug 5 2011, 09:52 AM) algea mostly come with dirty water and ur fish die mayber ur water PH level is not so stable~! try to wash ur tank every 4-5days half tank untill ur PH level is stable... u can buy PH Kit test for testing the PH level... and u need to get a good filter...as leeyung said hanging filter will be good for ur tank... those biological filter is good for plant and to purify the water to be more fresh and odor less depend wat type of filter media u put on.... i.e ceramic rings, active carbone, bio-balls, gravel stone and etc...but mostly active carbon and coral stone will do the job... now mostly hanging filter will come 2gether with active carbon depend wat brand u purchase.. Very true. I'm not marimo pro, but I know some bout filters. Depending what you want it for. To keep PH stable, the bigger the tank, the easier. The main trick not to let PH level getting too high is avoid putting in too much fishes. Especially if it's a small tank.Just my opinion~! As for filter, like what r3apers said, ceramic rings, bio balls etc all helps. But when you start it, leave the tank empty, keep the filter running with all its ceramic, sponges and stuff for minimum 1 week. I usually let it run more than 2 weeks. It helps building bacteria that eats ammonia. Which helps reducing acidic levels. For a tank size like yours, best use a hang filter. I assume that plastic box you have there gives off bubbles and push a small part of water into it making it some kind of filter? If you want to keep that, add a air stone to the air pipe you have there. It works better and helps adding air into your water. Big sized bubbled does not help much. If you plan to buy the hanging filter, you might find it very small and you can hardly add anything beyond what it comes with originally. Just ignore that part, remove what you don't need. Stuff all those ceramics, carbon, sponge into it, make sure the sponge covers at least 50~60%, others in small partial. Works wonder when it stables up. |

QUOTE(genielee_83 @ Aug 7 2011, 07:55 AM) My water outlet has flat mouth ( dark bill). Didn't put any ball at the end. Should i put a ball.? How to change the mouth? QUOTE(r3apers @ Aug 7 2011, 12:27 PM) the mouth origin is circle....i think urs had put the flat mouth adapter on it...i plug out the flat mouth...u try to plug and c...coz some aquarium shop had fix the mouth while they selling...u no need to put ball since u juz put marimo and guppy only.... QUOTE(genielee_83 @ Aug 7 2011, 12:36 PM) What is the ball for? A little confuse over here. Do you mean your water outlet dont have a 'air-stone' which looks like a blue ball thing or your air outlet don't have it? Or actually you mean your plastic box thing that gives out air and helps filtering at the same time?Mine am on the way to underwater rock moss garden since moss tying is a challenge ( still learning) Anyway, hope this helps you. Any air outlet, best to add a 'air-stone' to it, which looks like a stone ball really, usually blue in color. Cause it creates tiny bubbles which helps adding air into your water. That way, not only keeping 'air' in your water, but it also reduce the 'waves' on the water surface cause by large 'air bubbles' that makes the water not calm enough for most fishes. Any water outlet, which is usually above your water surface that lets water out of your filter (most filters have it), is more suitable to use a duck billed head or even better, a pipe that has plenty of holes that creates some sort of thin lines of water flow back into your tank. It helps reducing the stress in your water and also at the same time create more 'air'. Guppies are fragile in a way. They tend to get stressed easily. Even though they can survive harsh surroundings, but if they get stressed for long period of time, they tends to attack each other. Ripping each others tail off, and sometimes even killing. But if tended nicely, guppies are sweet. =D I'm a guppy lover myself. P/S : I'm sick already. Kinda blur and fail to read all your post. Hope this helps you. And if you don't know what an air stone is. Try google it. You should see these offen enough. Sorry I'm too laggy to post any pics. This post has been edited by Kinci: Aug 7 2011, 02:26 PM |

QUOTE(genielee_83 @ Aug 7 2011, 02:53 PM) I know what you mean liao. Pipe can diy. Dont worry. Market seldom sell them anyway. There are plenty of sizes, just choose which ever seems to suit your tank. Not really important. Myself I usually choose medium~ small so I can hide it somewhere in the tank. Wont look so ugly that way.I just change the duck bill to air stone. Maybe also look for the holed pipe. the pipe can diy also?? Added on August 7, 2011, 2:54 pmIs the air stone and pipe standard size? |

QUOTE(genielee_83 @ Aug 7 2011, 09:05 PM) For 2ft tank, try the smallest one? And if you can, set the air flow to low. Most of them allows you set 'high' and 'low'.As for 24 cm nano tank, are you keeping guppies in it? Is it 24 x 24 x 24? If it is, only wise to keep less than 4 guppies in it. Hardly enough space for them to swim |
