Not good, XBL being official here is not good at all. MS is pretty anal about getting proper rating certification to ensure proper compliance with local laws... *gah*.. believe it when I see it.

xbox 360 was not officially launch in malaysia, then there is no reason for XBL to available in Malaysia..

If anything XBL will be catered for phone markets rather than for the xbox. Probably end up with a gimped marketplace like the local itunes marketplace.

U can migrate ur gamertag location to MY. I don't really bother, the live event would be inactive like SG, I want live to be like the US/UK. Unless they do something else like giving additional function, I could see it pretty pointless

Guys , i know why microsoft won't release on Malaysia . Because Malaysia have the biggest pirated cd/dvd. so that , microsoft afraid that it will affect its marketing due to the piracy .
Why XBL release at Singapore?
Because at Singapore there is no piracy cd. At Malaysia , we do have piracy cd , can get at pasar malam .

They have to release. Because people have voiced out that WinPhone 7 is crap since cannot play game and buy sw in Malaysia. And to play game on WinPhone 7 you need XBL account for achievements and WinPhone Marketplace to get games in the first place.

I already voiced my discontent to Nokia support the other day. Since Nokia is switching to WinPhone 7. Talked sense into them- that OVI store and N-Gage is way better than WinPhone Marketplace and XBL because it's available in Malaysia, and losing Ovi+N-Gage in favor of WinMarketplace+XBL will be like taking 10 years worth of steps back since Malaysians will end up with paperweight. Hence push MS to make to make WinPhone Marketplace and XBL available in Malaysia or you wil surely see your phone sales in the country drop.

Ramchyld, we can play and buy game on WP7 just like how we buy and play game on 360. Granted there's still the problem of linking a working credit card to the account. But it is possible. A few of us have done so.

But you need a Singaporean Live account rite? That's what I understand from the local WinPhone 7 blogs I read for research floating around. Thing is, I'm not allowed to have a Singaporean account for some reason. My mom found out I was using my uncle's address for XBL and forced me to close the account in front of her and made me promise never to make another account in Singapore. Dunno why, she just dun allow.

US account is okay though. That's why my XBL account is US. But then difficult to get credits and XBL Gold with US account. Why my account is only silver right now.

That's why I hoping Malaysia will finally get XBL. At least dun have to pay through nose for gold account and credits.

Nah... it won't happen mainly due to high piracy issues as pointed out here. We can all hope for it one day. Fingers crossed... the next Xbox in 2013 will.

I take it you're the type who rather play online games at cybercafe...

XBox Live allow you to connect your XBox to internet so you can play with friends online. Its like being able to play network game from home.

i dont know, seems there is some update on window phone games region thingy, since they both are related to xbox account, the region might still be open to malaysia. So just wait and see how

i dont give a damn about new MY gamertag, i m happy with my SG gamertag.
However i m seriously against IP restriction and region Lock DLCs. At least XBL titles with region lock DLCs are very limited compare to PSN DLCs. Thank God.

I think most people do not see the benefit of region locking, whether it's DLC or retail releases - apart from the major publishers who still believe that there is a need to protect their territorial distribution arrangements (including pricing).

I'll probably still stick to my UK Gamertag even if there is an MY Gamertag. However, the advantage of having an MY Gamertag is not for the benefit for the current holders of XBL members but to perhaps increase the number of MY gamers. Making it easier for MY gamers to sign up to live and gold, this is great as you would have more Malaysians to play with and it would also encourage more grassroots ori gaming.

i have a feeling is pretty pointless for MY gamertag for consumers other than promoting Malaysian gamers. Sony PS3 have been dominating the malaysian marketplace and its really difficult to establish a strong xbox community. Similar to SG marketplace, items sold are charged 7% Tax and i m sure MY gov will most likely charge more like what happen to Sony PS3.
