XBox Live allow you to connect your XBox to internet so you can play with friends online. Its like being able to play network game from home.

just like PSN, only PSN for Sony product while XBL for MS product

XBL won't jeopardise all their users(77 Million users ) personal details, unlike PSN

i dont know, seems there is some update on window phone games region thingy, since they both are related to xbox account, the region might still be open to malaysia. So just wait and see how

i dont give a damn about new MY gamertag, i m happy with my SG gamertag.
However i m seriously against IP restriction and region Lock DLCs. At least XBL titles with region lock DLCs are very limited compare to PSN DLCs. Thank God.

I think most people do not see the benefit of region locking, whether it's DLC or retail releases - apart from the major publishers who still believe that there is a need to protect their territorial distribution arrangements (including pricing).

I'll probably still stick to my UK Gamertag even if there is an MY Gamertag. However, the advantage of having an MY Gamertag is not for the benefit for the current holders of XBL members but to perhaps increase the number of MY gamers. Making it easier for MY gamers to sign up to live and gold, this is great as you would have more Malaysians to play with and it would also encourage more grassroots ori gaming.

i have a feeling is pretty pointless for MY gamertag for consumers other than promoting Malaysian gamers. Sony PS3 have been dominating the malaysian marketplace and its really difficult to establish a strong xbox community. Similar to SG marketplace, items sold are charged 7% Tax and i m sure MY gov will most likely charge more like what happen to Sony PS3.
