I'm planning to get a car (most likely Forte 1.6 or 2.0) before CNY (in January 2012 doh.gif)

Like to get some opinion on purchasing a car in last quarter of the year.

Pros:
- There are some quite attractive offerings now (check myforteclub brows.gif )
- Much much better chance to get the car before CNY

Cons:
- The car will be one year old in the next 2 months.
I'm purchasing the car with no trade-in. So the concern of servicing the installment for current car does not exist.

What do you think?
I'm still torn apart in selecting 1.6 or 2.0.

What shared by gregy is really what been playing in my head EVERYDAY now!  rclxub.gif

If I'm going for 2.0, I will need to fork out around RM3.5k - RM4k extra every year. This amount of money is not small and could contribute to other more important stuffs (like new house expenses)... and not so important stuffs (like going for annual trips tongue.gif)

With 2.0, I get more power (fun factor), better safety measurements (other additional features not really that matter to me). But, I will get higher FC, higher commitment in servicing the loan, etc.

Anyway, for me, leather seat is a must. So if I am really going for 1.6, I will surely get it wrapped with leather. The SC has quoted me extra RM2K and can be bundled in the car loan. I think it's slightly more expensive though.

Just a comment, if yours are mostly City Driving, then I propose getting 1.6sx coz 2.0 is going to burn more fuel since you will be constantly stuck in traffic jams. I was going through the same problem when deciding on 1.6 or 2.0 but in the end I chose 1.6, though there are times you wish you are driving 2.0 with the additional "kicks" but, I'm not a crazy F1 driver nor I will go and try to smoke some Civic/Altis just for fun lol.. If $$ is not a problem for you, by all means go ahead.. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

For my case, I'm staying in PJ and the traffic here are always slow moving (more often stuck in crazy jam for minimum of 2 hours everyday shakehead.gif ) so even with my 1.6sx I can only get about 400KM/RM70 full tank or lower, cannot imagine how high it's going to be for 2.0.. Though the mileage will increase significantly when you have more long distance driving (I took a trip down Johor and Singapore recently, my mileage improved by additional 100KM per RM70 full tank), but how often do you really traveling distance?

I didn't bother with leathers seats because our weather is going to kill you when you get into your car after parked under hot sun for few hours.. Good luck.. lol

Just my dua Cent. thumbup.gif

hm..was driving my car at 120 just now, and felt the steering is rather shaky..is this normal? below that was ok...

i just got my 1.6 SX last week..
*
Nope, not normal. I just hit 140 just now and it's still stable. Like what the person above me just said, you need to do alignment/balancing.

Let your SA know and he should get this done for you for free. I got mine done for free by the service center during my 1k service (since it's just next door).

You can do 5k or 10k. It's entirely your call.

^ If you compare the technical sheet, you will notice a lot of obvious difference already. Have you looked at it? It's on the first page of this Thread..

Once you've reviewed it and you have some questions then ask them here.

IMO, don't get the free (or discounted bodykit, I paid RM700 for the bodykit) that was offered by SA during purchase.

My car's bodykit has started to peel off and also the base color are coming out (It's red color even though my car is Black.. wut??) after only less than a year. My friend who bought the bodykit has the same issue as well.

I rather pay more for some higher quality bodykit. Oh well.. Lesson learned.. sad.gif

This website is offering some pretty good stuff. I've bought some stuff from him and I will be going to him to get my new bodykit next year when I have the funds. I have nothing to gain from promoting his website, but by far he is a seller that I can trust since he himself drives a Forte with the bodykit.

Would be good if people can recommend some good sellers for Bodykit as well in this forum. smile.gif

I just test drive this car 2 weeks ago, it's a pretty impressive car and the performance was good also. For a 1.3 it felt like I'm driving a 1.5.

But it's too small to be a car of my choice, I felt quite cramped up and at the back seat it's quite difficult to put 3 adults there (I know most cars has this problem, but Insight was really small) and it's very low too (Aerodynamic design), whenever my friend goes through a bump or some slight bumpy roads, I kept hitting the ceiling of the car.. shocking.gif shocking.gif

Hi guys,
Happy Chinese New Year

My wife had an unfortunate incident on the first day of CNY when a truck reversed into her Forte's door. The damage is kind of bad, the door went in and the window shattered.

Will be claiming the other party's insurance to do repairs but not so sure which Kia Branch does accident repairs. I believe tThe whole door needs to be replaced as it is twisted.

Any recommendation of which branch to go? I live in Klang but I don't mind going as far as PJ to send the car. As long as it is a certified workshop. The car is only 6 months old and I don't want to void the warranty.

Thanks.

Hi there, hope my message did not come in too late. I did mine at Subang USJ there. There's a KIA centre there with a very helpful lady boss. I had an accident a while back as well and I had to claim insurance, that's where I found out not many KIA centers actually does insurance and they are capable of doing it..

Same problem with your wife's, a lorry knocked my side mirror and took out the whole damn thing.. I had to claim the lorry's third party insurance (which is darn painful to get the insurance company to release $$).

This lady boss was really friendly and she settled everything for me from day 1 (insurance claim all the way till repair) and she manage to speed things up for me (else I would've waited more than a year instead).

PM me if you need the contacts, I'll pass you her contact details. smile.gif

hi, i got my 2012 forte 1.6 sx last week, i found the fuel consumption is high, which is 11.8liter/100km(show on meter). which mean only 8.547km/liter.

I am 90% city + 10% highway.Found some guy can get around 8liter/100km. any modding(wihtout void warranty) can get a better fc?

Is the fc normal for this car? Issit becos new car so the fc will be higher?tks for any comment.  smile.gif

Since you just got your car last week, wait till after your 1k service then check again.. Mine was around the same as yours too, but after 1k service it's pretty good now.

Though bear in mind, you are driving 90% city, which means you are more likely to be stucked in traffic jam most of the time, if you are a heavy footer, you might want to learn how to drive smoothly (be gentle on the pedal) then u'll see significant difference. Forte is quite heavy anyways..

Mine 80% city 20% highway. about 10-11L/100KM since I'm always stuck in traffic jams..

If highway driving, it drops to about 7-8L/100KM.
