comparing 2 1.6 DOHC engines... which would u guys prefer for ur normal daily drive?

a/ 150 Nm @ 4500 rpm
(but lower HP)

b/ 157 Nm @ 7,300 rpm
(significantly higher HP)

sorry...i meant normal daily drive as in how u guys drive normally each day...

if u kaki rembat then u kaki rembat la....

basically daily drive with the occasional rembat-ing

actually comparing the ratios that shazmn posted...

for the 1.6 CPS... id put in the exora gearbox... and thats it. no swapping

1.6 dont really have the torque to pull long ratios so u compensate that with shoter gear ratios... so the short ratio of the 1st gear and paired with the high FD should be able to properly push ur engine forward... the high fd paired with the rest of the ratios should also be good to continue pushing ur engine forward...

then of course theres the low 5th gear which would make long distance cruising more acceptable.

gotta say... the proton engineers knew wat they were doing with the exora gearbox when the put the car together...especially considering the weight of the car and usage. they made the gearbox so that the car can actually move properly and yet not suffer during long distances

meh... just go for the exora gearbox and get the LSD from dori dori. kow tim.

i wasnt talking about u specifically la... u got ur LSD then good la..can transfer over

1st gear finish too fast?? on a 1.6 with lil torque? u sure? how long u wanna pull 1st gear la.. its not about the length u pull its about how fast ur speed rises. like i said... the high gear ratios is to compensate the lack of torque of the engine.


as for custom vs oem LSD... yes...i know

mine would be subang to port dickson in almost 4 hours.

why so long for such a short distance???? my friend just recently overhauled his Honda Raider's engine so the trip was to help run it in... we couldnt go above 60 hahahahhaha

met up with an old friend..who drives a gen2 CPS. he recently had the camproturbo fellers do up his car with their turbokit.

TD05
custom intercooler (same size as EVO7)
wastegate
2.5" exhaust
haltech piggyback (forgot model)
changed radiator
0.64 bar
etc etc etc etc.

result... 190whp and 21kg/cm torque. which is more than my 2.0L VTEC. but he aint satisfied as he says there are people who did their car with camproturbo gets more.. and he cant feel the boost kicking in. also his dyno graph is quite linear. boost kick doesnt even show on the graph. he might be going back to do some checking.







total cost how much? 5 digits. lets just say i seriously dont think its worth it. with the amount of money he spent he could have gotten a GSR transplant and make the same power at stock. and still have room AND spare cash to go higher. instead now hes spent that much and hes practically at the limit.

only upside is that the parts are brand new... or at least i THINK theyre brand new la...but still not worth it imho.


imho...if u wanna BOT... anything more than RM5k aint worth it.

but the camproturbo setups are roughly around 10k for the basic setup iirc. but if not mistaken u get all brand new stuff la


i had a friend who (long time ago) wanted to do a BOT setup for below 1k for his 1.6 SOHC VTEC. he almost managed to achieve it....but he overshot by 6-700 only....so yeah...thats how low u can get a BOT setup for if u know where n wat to look for.
