"I also still believe that Vieri is one of the best centre-forwards in circulation at this moment in time."

Toni is younger, taller n stronger built than Vieri... n more important, Toni can score a lot regularly.

U-21: Palladino sinks Moldova
Tuesday 11 October, 2005

A late goal from Raffaele Palladino concluded Italy's European Under-21 Championship qualifying campaign with a win over Moldova.

The Azzurrini were already assured top spot in Group Five and a place in the play-off to enter the Finals, so they fielded an experimental side in this last qualifier.

The deadlock was eventually broken in the final minutes, as Graziano Pelle' shrugged off three challenges and placed a perfect angled pass for Palladino to spring the offside trap and nutmeg the goalkeeper.

It was a splendid goal for the Livorno striker, although much of the credit must go to Lecce man Pelle'. Italy end their qualifying campaign with eight wins, a draw and a defeat on their way to defend the European Championship title.

Week 7 Serie A results...

Ascoli 2 - 1 Sampdoria
Cagliari 0 - 2 Milan
Empoli 1 - 0 Roma
Inter 5 - 0 Livorno
Juventus 1 - 0 Messina
Lazio 1 - 0 Fiorentina
Palermo 2 - 2 Chievo
Parma 1 - 1 Treviso
Reggina 2 - 0 Lecce

on a side note, Di Michele scored a hattrick for Udinese. So the lesson is : don't juz put ur eyes on Iaquinta, n forget the other 2 blades of Udinese's trident.

siena vs udinese was indeed match of the week

we saw the greatness of di michelle n also chiesa
one skillful young talent n the other one was a great striker back then
but still a magnificent striker, just checkout his goal in the match wink.gif

its good to see di michele back to his form
i hope he keep playing this way
if cassano cant make it to the WC
i hope di michele,di natale to take the 2nd striker spot
morfeo is a good candidate for that role too,but i dont think lippi will call him anyway

Bonera suffers injury setback

Struggling Parma have been handed another blow after Daniele Bonera picked up a new injury.

The defender limped out of the warm-up ahead of the Treviso game yesterday with a muscle strain that will force him on to the sidelines yet again.

The stopper, who has already missed a few games this term because of a previous fitness setback, will now be unavailable for the immediate future.

"He'll undergo a number of tests at the end of this week," stated Parma medical chief Massimo Manara.

hope the injuries doesn't hav effect on him. I pick him ahead of Zaccardo for Azzurri anytime.
