QUOTE(Andyzz @ May 12 2011, 10:42 AM) ![]() MULTIMEDIA UNIVERSITY MMU Thread V1 MMU Thread V2 I am here to help students who have doubts, questions and problems... I will answer all questions frankly and will not lie to promote this university. MMU is the only private university in Malaysia to be ranked as Top 200 in ASEAN REGION Multimedia University Official website which is: MMU WEBSITE Here are some useful weblink: To check your Application status (For students that had submited your application form) APPLICATION STATUS To go to MMU ONLINE PORTAL To go to MMU Academic calender To go to MMU Bulletin Board To go to WiFi registration (NTU) To go to VIRTUAL LIBRARY To go to FOUNDATION STUDIES WEBSITE To go to FACULTY OF INFORMATION SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY To go to FACULTY OF BUSINESS & LAW To go to FACULTY OF ENGINEERING To go to FACULTY OF LIFE SCIENCE To go to DIPLOMA STUDIES To go to FACULTY OF CREATIVE MULTIMEDIA To go to Recognition and accreditation Academic Workload MMU Fees (as at 2010): Diploma (2 years 3 months) - RM15,500.00 to RM18,756.00 Foundation (1 year) – RM10,883.00 to RM12,729.00 Degree:- Information Technology (3 years) - RM42,322.50 to RM44,640.00 Creative Multimedia (3 years) – RM40,417.50 to RM43,800.00 Engineering (4 years) – RM50,901.00 to RM54,000.00 Management/business (3 years) - RM37,798.00 to RM 40,846.00 (marketing, HR, finance and etc) Financial Engineering (3 years 6 months) - RM39,680.00 to RM40,670.00 Accounting (4 years) - RM48,355.00 to RM50,941.00 Law (4 years) - RM48,672.50 to RM50,470.00 Combination degree (3 years) - RM35,798.00 to RM52,106.00 Frequently asked questions: 1) I am new and what should I do to apply PTPTN? Get your documents certified. Documents such as offer letter, SPM results and etc. Certify those and then go to the orientation. You will have a good picture. Open a CIMB account too. You can go to MMU and open as it only need you to deposit RM20 2) Do the students need to wear formal during classes or any specific date to do so? No, students do not need to wear formal and is up to the students to wear any attire (but regards to the dress code of Multimedia University. Failure to do so, can make the student liable for fine of RM100.00 by security personal. 3) Is MMU law recognized? Yes, on 10 August 2008 by Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail with reference number [LK/SAG/7-1A & 7-1C; PN(PU2)314/IX] 4) Which is better? MMU Melaka or Cyber? There are both pro and cons in this situation. For example, in MMU Melaka, people like to do events and they have different lifestyle. However, facilities here are not in good shape as its quite old. However, for Cyberjaya is total contrast. Events are not held constantly and not as much as MMU Melaka. But facilities tend to be way better than Cyberjaya. 5) Should we attend orientation? Yes and very yes! Why? First is because after u pay the amount for registration, you have already paid for orientation. And secondly, please don’t rely only on seniors. Seniors also sometimes do not know how to solve the problem and at the end, come to see SRC. Most people whom do not know where to go and come to SRC are the people who did not turn up for orientation. And lastly, why want to rely on other people? 6) After paying the bank draft what should I do? Bring the receipt of payment to the registration as it is just a backup in case the system shows that you did not pay. 7) Where can I stay in MMU Melaka? There are many houses available in MMU Melaka. You can try these 3 taman which is Taman Kerjasama, Taman Bunga Raya and Taman Dahlia. All these 3 taman are quite near to campus. Else, apartments such as Ixora, Emerald Park, Bukit Beruang Utama (BBU), University Green (UG) and etc would be your choose. Most is around few minutes’ walk and depending on the place and how fast you walk. 8) Where can I stay in MMU Cyberjaya You can try Cyberia Smarthomes as it is the nearest and is in walking distant to campus. Besides that, Cyberia Cresent, Cyberia Cresent 2 is also nearby. If you have transport and willing to travel. Theres a lot of houses for rent in Seri Kembangan for cheaper price. It is about 20min drive. 9) What scholarships can I take if I want to come to MMU? -MMU Yayasan TM Scolarship -MMU Chancellor Scholarship -PTPTN Or other companies who are willing to sponsor you. Do not forget that PTPTN can be converted into scholarship if you are able to graduate with CGPA of 3.67 without extending your term of studies 10) Do I need to stay in hostel? In MMU, you have your right to have your own accommodation and is not compulsory to stay in hostel even for new students. There is no curfew, and hence, you are free to walk in and out of MMU (but u will need to write your name and ID on a book provided by security) during 12am – 8am. 11) What should I do if I have problem? Post your problem here and I will try to help u. You can also proceed to SRC to ask for help as they represent students 12) What is the network speed in campus? The network equipments support 10/100Mbps (end user). 13) Laundry and iron service for MMU Cyber hostel? There are irons in MMU Cyberjaya hostel which is available at the Wing B 5th floor of each Block. There are few different laundry service in MMU Cyberjaya Hostel 1- U send anything inside a plastic bag, collect it around 1 days later, pay around RM2/kg (Available at Hostel Block (HB) ONE) 2- Wash whatever you want yourself using the washing machine, not sure how much does it cost but its a pay per use. Even if you put in 100kg inside the machine also can as long as it fit. (Available at HB FOUR) 3- Wash on your own using hand 14) What should I wear during orientation? Only formal attire are allowed. Meansround neck, collar, jeans and etc. All students are expected to dress in formal attire.
it depends on which "other uni" you are refering to. if other ipts, i think there will be no problem such as taylor or appit if you opt to go to ipta, my advice is to think twice. my 2cent. THere are consultant, network engineer, IT sales, DBA, systems engineer, and many more. YOur criteria : didn't want my future work just sitting infront computer and keep programming just like a robot theres a lot of profession that let you interact with people. consultant where u need to advice even programmer need to interact with clients to get requirements. my advice : choose what interest you most, thats it. unless you are planning to go into a career in academic field, then its a different story

i'm RY,I wonder know what course is great in MMU? and i interested in marketing, can u gv me some professional suggestion? Comp science in MMU rarely touches on hardware, even there are, its also theorethical knowledge. no hands on.Im a diploma in Computer Studies student. But im more of a hardware than a software person. but MMU will launch degree in comp science soon..no idea bout the new course structure, maybe you can ask the staff bout this. if you really opt for more hardware, maybe consider to go to Degree in comp engineering. |
