I think its almost the same as Dell's warranty coverage but I'm not very sure, do correct me if I'm wrong  Sony's warranty claims are similar to that of most brands, need to bring to the service center, and depending on the severity of the problem, it may take up to 2 months for repairs otw to placing order for the toshiba L745 that you suggested.
