well , i was chatting with the owner of guitar store the other day...

according to him..

the reason why Dimarzios , Gibsons , Fender Japan ? ,etc are so expensive ..

is because of the Malaysian Mentality . Always thinking about themselves
Bargaining like crazy , Buy also go singapore buy , Always "i want the cheapest" price attitude ..
its been happening for a long time...

and what happened ? Guitar Store , LA floresta , Woh Fatt ? they are not making any money for years ..

he says ..in the end..the consumer are the ones that lose out..
If the local distributor isn't making money , they only gears we will be seeing in Malaysia are Gios , Yamaha, MIC epiphone ...cheap gears that can sell..
they wouldn't take the RISK to bring in products that may not sell..

this few years , Bentley tried bringing in Musicman , Guild , Gretch ..and i think the result is very discouraging..and now Electro Harmonix i heard ?

If they put a low price on dimarzios , the consumers are still going to bargain . that will be worse . so they rather remain overpriced with 10% discount .

i don't really agree with him . but well , i have the Malaysian Mentality . it doesn't affect me . i got a sis in U.S ..so me getting gears not really a problem..

In fact , i kinda love the Overpriced Malaysia . You have any idea how you can make a living . by buying and selling used Musical instruments ? smile.gif our resale value in Malaysia is quite high , compare to Japan and U.S ...i have seen ESP custom shop strat in ebay going for 600 USD and nobody biding for it tongue.gif

so what you guys think ?

it has nothing to do with malaysian mentality, and of cos everything to do with prices.
as a buyer, you should already know what they're suppose to sell for.

you think ppl would want to waste their time to go down SG? or even order from overseas and then maybe have the hassle of going thru customs?

none of this would happen if shops here actually try to match prices.

consumers still wont lose out anyway, as the options mentioned above are still available to them.
it is the music stores that are losing out.
no customers = no business.

lol yeah thats true .

why don't we make a thread , or a long post .

which brands you think its OK to buy in Malaysia and which we should never touch ..

i will start ..

GO FOR IT!:
Ibanez
Roland / BOSS
EMG

DON'T :
LTD / ESP
PRS
GIBSON
DIMARZIO
MUSICMAN

anybody have an opinion on Fenders , Cort , Epiphone , Yamaha , EHX , MXR , behringer , line6 , Gretch , ZOOM , tech21 ,jacksons ?
feel free to add smile.gif

Hey guys, what pickup do you think swap for my bridge position pickup? I'm using an Epiphone Les Paul-100 and I already have a Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro pickup on the neck position. Do you think the Dimebucker would blend nice with the Alnico II?

I need some advice. smile.gif

Hey guys..

Those high output Dimarzio pups pricing are more expensive than the medium output pups right ?

Or the price is actually around the same ?
*
both of it is around the same price..

the more expensive Dimarzios are usually the artist series , i.e Dimarzio Evo , D sonic
but i would think that medium-low output pickups are harder to find , since a dimarzio distributor would probably bring in more sellable high output pickups

Why does the D-sonic consider as an artist series?
*
hahaha..dono..but the way dimarzio is marketing it ..

whenever somebody says D sonic..straight away "JP" will comes in the picture ..
anyway , i think D sonic used to Originate from stock pickups found on RG565 ..Dimarzio just created the improved version

Oh, I shee I shee...

But IIRC, D-sonic was out before JP started using it... And that Brad something guy from Linkin Park started using it before JP...
Do you have any experience with them? Would love to here your comments on this pickup...
*
i have both the Dimarzio D sonic and the RG565 ...

all i can say .. Bassy ,ballsy pickups ..very riffing ..and very powerful..i think the harmonics for the top strings are awesome too..
the older D sonic has slightly lower output than the new one..
not really my cup of tea cos i prefer a super middy and trebby pickup like evo smile.gif

most of you all might disagree with me ..

but i think pickups and playing ..are the ones that REALLY affect your tone ..

lousy guitar ? get EMG ..you will be ok ..
lousy amp ? cmon , a dimarzio on a marshall mg isnt that bad ..

a good amp and a good guitar , with china made microphone pickups and bad playing , will never sound good
