Bought my set at Harvey Norman last week.. it all went well, i have had no software issues nor severe screen bleeding problems on my unit.. but not until last night.. When i tried to move the icons (as i have been downloading quite a number), i had problem on the icons keep on dropping.. this 'dropping' means in other words, if you want to move an icon, you'll have to giggle it first. Then pick the giggling icons (don't lift your finger as yet) and move it to where you want to move it.. But in my case, the icon will drop (yes like the action of taking off your finger from the screen) at the center of the screen (vertically), as if there are a wall that i cannot pass..

So i've downloaded a drawing tool (GlowColoring) and tried to draw a line, this is what it turned out to be:

Soo very lah sedih then call Apple Care..

[1] They said try to use the latest ios.

[2] Did that (now 4.3.3) but it is just the same.

[3] Call again and ask to hantar to Machines.

[4] Call Machines first and they said whats best that they can do is that restore it then test. (like that i also can do).

[5] Call Harvey Norman. They said they will not responsible. Ask me to call Apple Centre Malaysia (Times Square)

[6] I called them (Times Square) and they said can 1 on 1 exchange from the reseller. That is Apple punya standard.

[7] I call Harvey Norman again and they said that if Ipad or Notebook, there are no such thing as 1 on 1 exchange as i have opened the box. I asked them : "if tak open then how boleh tahu problem?"

[8] Now that i'm pissed with this thingy, what should i do actually...

Either:

[1] Go to Hervey Norman and create hell

[2] Go to Machined KLCC

[3] Go to Berjaya Times Square

Try troubleshoot by yourself first. Reset and delete (format) everything and get it back to initial stage. See the problem go away or not.

ok.. i'll draw out the mail very soon.. i'll ask for their emails after this :-)

Anyway, I've called Machines Mid Valley and they said that kindly send my unit to The Gardens.. the technician is there.. if they said that my unit is faulty, then i'll have the replacement.. they said that The Gardens Machines have technical guy wheres there are none at MV..

I just need to pay them visit, maybe this evening or tomorrow morning..

So you guys all there, please check your unit(s).. this is very much hidden and isolated issue..

Bro. If I were you. I will go to Harvey Norman, tell the workers to piss off, go and get me the manager. Don't speak to people who can't help you. Not even sales, tech staff, etc. ALWAYS, speak to a manager with decision making powers.

Make noise like mad, but don't lose your cool. Focus on getting them into making a decision for you. What Apple says is correct, they are not liable because they didn't sell it to you.

Well I think I'm lucky for not having the bleeding problem (many have this at severe state) but it seems to be I can't get away with this..

I wanna create hell to HN, but that just having my blood off the roof.. Not good for my health.. I'll jot down their emails and have it cc-ed to Pengguna, Machines, Apple Malaysia, and maybe Steve Jobs? tongue.gif My main points would be:

[1] HN is a bad authorized reseller

[2] Machines is the most helpful

[3] HN has no expertise on troubleshooting

Sigh..

Not just Harvey Norman la, I think to be safe, for "higher" tech stuff like computers and smart phones, better buy from more specialised stores. Their staff usually won't have the knowledge to troubleshoot and won't know how to deal with such warranties, since they are just general salesmen for a broad range of electrical/household products.

Also... I lol'ed when you described it as "giggle" biggrin.gif

Now, do you really think that Apple have no idea about all this? They knew about it but still make us try our luck.

I called Apple few days ago to try my luck at getting freebies for backlight fiasco. She asked me to get back with the reseller but I fake that HN ain't bothering with my complaint. She then added different reseller have difference sales policy, and she cant offer me any other choice but to refer me to the local Authorised Apple Service Center. I think resellers like HN who ain't 100% committed to Apple products probably just wanna get a piece of the pie. They are not interested in providing after sales services.

The way they ping pong you is what made me pissed.. The only thing that made me coll is when i asked this guy from Machines MV..

Q: i'll just have to send my unit to Machines The Gardens? Thats all? No matter if it is 1 week? Can replace?

A: Yes, just bring your ipad there, as there will be technician entertaining you. If they said that your unit will need replacement, you'll get the replacement, as long as the warranty period is there..

Q: No matter where i bought the ipad?

A: Yes, no matter where as long as it is under warranty.. They will check for any external damage first.. Or any leaks (if your ipad masuk air and break the warranty)..

Nice to hear that.. Will go to the gardens first in the morning.. smile.gif

About HN, yes, i strongly agree that they just want to make profit and just wont care.. On how they act to ping pong me around here and there really pissed me off.. This might be my last purchace ever and i didn't want to do business with you anymore..

If any of you is doing business, always remember customers first, else there will be no business...

harvey norman is Australia company.

If you really want them to provide better service in the future, I hope you can email their parent company in
Australia telling them Harvey Norman in Malaysia service is very very bad.

update: My ipad have been confirmed to have a less sensitive touch screen problem and on its way to be replaced with a new one..

I went to Machines The Gardens and sent my ipad for further troubleshooting.. without further delay, it was confirmed with that issue and guess what? Mine is the only ipad in the country by far that have such problem.. I'm really having the bad apples.. hoho..

So, they'll send my ipad to Singapore and in 10 (working) days, i'll have a totally new ipad.. He just took my ipad, without questioning where i bought it, he don't even ask my receipt on proof of purchase..

And now, i'll be missing my newest member of the family for at least 2 weeks.. fuuuu~~~
