QUOTE(tytons @ Aug 12 2005, 04:10 PM) hmm intresting....i personally find humbuckers not humming hehe..i find the sound sharp...n erm...strong...so i only use them for solos...but not when strumming...as i play more rythm i normally use the middle n the bridge....not too sure about the 3 way switch...havent tried any guitar tat has 3 way switch. i was thinkin of lookin for a cheap epi LP over at uk if im goin this sept...so still thinkin if single coils are better or 2 hums... i remember testin out a godin at guitar store....its has 3 singles if not wrong ..n it sounds very er.. "creamy"? very diff from my cheap samick...which i asked how much would it cost to get a new set of pick ups..n the price could get me another samick...eeks ANOTHER EPI converter!! come this Way! heherr.. anyway my heart was torn between the Godin and the Sheraton actually but after I tried the Godin it sounded much like a tele and I've already got that one. but it does sond really good especially the sig model which has an acoustic pickup! SWEET!

QUOTE(metalhead @ Aug 12 2005, 02:58 PM) http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/products/eg/...ages/01_hsh.gifwell, actually this is wat i meant....the second and forth position doesn't really do anything on the tone, from what i tried .... on an Ibanez RG ....that y i rather have a 3 way... 1 - Neck Humbucker 2 - Single Coil 3 - Bridge Humbucker yala but y settle for less when you can have xtra? the single + neck in pos 2 is incredibly nice for blues... pos 4 is juz more treble... if you still dont like it... you can always change the settings.. maybe coil tap in pos 2.... parallel...etc all im trying to say is that the more you have the more versatile it is unlike pots where it actually affects the tone frequency... btw... anyone tried the fernandes sustainer before? i know it increase sustain by heaps... but i wonder how does the tone compare to normal d'addario pups or SDs

There's a harmonic button, once you flick it, the note you're sustaining would turn into a screaming harmonic. The fernades sustainer's more like an effect if you ask me. Very useful too if you wanna sustain clean tones.

Thinking of getting the Jeff Beck pickup for my Strat clone as well.... Apparently, that's what Billie Joe Armstrong used in his original Fernendes "Blue" Telecaster

Apparently, that's what Billie Joe Armstrong used in his original Fernendes "Blue" Telecaster I guess you can't go far wrong with the JB since it's a popular replacement pup but I've read quite a number of negative reviews, most of them claim that it doesn't have enough clarity. How about a DiMarzio? Just a suggestion btw. Why not wait till your new LP arrives and transfer the active pups into the strat? Then put a pair of Alcino pups in your Epiphone? You will have 2 different LPs and at the same time bring the strat alive.

I still have 2 open Coiled humbuckers from the Les Paul-100..... although I'm TOTALY not impressed by them. I'd rather spend an extra 350 bucks on a new humbucker then use the old open coils..... probably sell it on ebay or something.....
And the Passive pick-ups from the Epi-ZW is going to be swapped for the EMG-ZWs on my current Epi-100.........

Opps I've forgotten both LPs are Epi. Anyway what I meant was put new Alcinos (SD, DiMarzio, Swineshead or even... BKPs!) on the Epi-100 and the EMG-ZW on the Epi-ZW while placing the original Epi-ZW pups in the strat. heh...
