Hi Guys, What should i check when i received a new car from SA....
Let see... besides having new car smell... below are what you need to check:
Interior & Exterior body
1) Check all body panel for any dents, painwork, gaps (esp headlight/tail lamp area), etc
2) Check all lights working exterior and interior dome light, dashboard lights, etc
3) Check radio working, display panel working, CD player working (bring a CD along)
4) Leather seats no scratch or discoloration (ask them remove the plastic, no point keeping plastic anyway)
5) Check dashboard, side panels, middle panel for scratches, glove box open slowly
6) Check under the rubber carpet (if wet means got water ingress but this is very isolated case, so far seen 1 only)
7) Check steering and gear knob leather for scratches or chips
8) Check horn working
9) Check power windows working
10) Check windows tinting ok or got bubbles
11) Check central locking working
12) Check electric side mirror working (via control panel at driver side)
13) Check driver & passenger seat levels working. Driver side height can adjust up/down
14) Check if rear view mirror tight
15) Check if radio antenna fixed (some SA did not fix for them, still remained the short tip).
16) Check tyre pressure (usually its over inflated, reduce to 30-33 psi)
17) Check if both remote control working, arm/disarm, open boot.
Engine
1) Check if engine bay clean.
2) Check oil level. See rubber belt ok.
3) CHECK BATTERY TERMINAL SECURED TIGHTLY (some reported this loose and caused some issue)
4) Turn on engine and hear for any unusual sound (be warned that this engine is quite loud when just started but cannot be heard when inside the car, after warmed up will quiet down)
5) There will be a piece of paper on the fuse box. This is normal and you can remove it.
Boot
1) Check emergency kit complete
2) Check spare tyre present (full size tyre)
3) Check tools present (basic tyre opening tools & jack)
4) Check user manuals, service manuals, etc complete
Driving
1) When driving, hear if any funny sounds
2) Check if gear changes smooth
3) When braking no jerking or sound
4) Turn steering to max see if ok.
5) Check if air conditioning cool
6) If you dare, drive above 110 and see if got wind sound from driver window side
7) If CVT version, test if paddle shift works
8) For auto version, shift lock release will have a soft "klak" sound
What else ah? Perhaps others can add to this list then DarkAngel put it as sticky at front page for others to check.
