The Proton Inspira EcoDrive 2011
Submitted by Niklas on Tue, 28/06/2011 - 12:29pm

user posted image

Participants being flagged off from Proton's Centre of Excellence, Shah Alam.

Proton is hosting what could possibly be one of the slowest races on earth.

Inspira drivers have been invited by Proton to participate in an eco-challenge where participants have to drive up to Penang from Kuala Lumpur and back down again.

All in this in two days, one night and one tank of petrol, the car with the most petrol left, wins.

So far, the "racers" have reached Penang and are on their way back again today.

Drive Inspira how to save petrol.....so torture!! i go challenge them with my Savvy, rev kaw kaw and still can win...haha.

Hide a few bottles of petrol in cooking oil plastic bottle in car trunk....if people see, say it is minyak masak. Refill somewhere near rest stop when nobody is looking...haha.
Saya Permandu Berhemah konon... From your comments seems to be conflicting with what u claim u are leh.. kekeke.... tongue.gif

Minyak masak bottle? Ppl thought about it alrdy. The fuel cap is sealed with warranty like sticker and not sure if the fuel pump under the car seat is also sealed. You can however modify the fuel line but if ur car explodes, no warranty.. kakaka..

Hi Guys, What should i check when i received a new car from SA....
*
Let see... besides having new car smell... below are what you need to check:

Interior & Exterior body
1) Check all body panel for any dents, painwork, gaps (esp headlight/tail lamp area), etc
2) Check all lights working exterior and interior dome light, dashboard lights, etc
3) Check radio working, display panel working, CD player working (bring a CD along)
4) Leather seats no scratch or discoloration (ask them remove the plastic, no point keeping plastic anyway)
5) Check dashboard, side panels, middle panel for scratches, glove box open slowly
6) Check under the rubber carpet (if wet means got water ingress but this is very isolated case, so far seen 1 only)
7) Check steering and gear knob leather for scratches or chips
8) Check horn working
9) Check power windows working
10) Check windows tinting ok or got bubbles
11) Check central locking working
12) Check electric side mirror working (via control panel at driver side)
13) Check driver & passenger seat levels working. Driver side height can adjust up/down
14) Check if rear view mirror tight
15) Check if radio antenna fixed (some SA did not fix for them, still remained the short tip).
16) Check tyre pressure (usually its over inflated, reduce to 30-33 psi)
17) Check if both remote control working, arm/disarm, open boot.

Engine
1) Check if engine bay clean.
2) Check oil level. See rubber belt ok.
3) CHECK BATTERY TERMINAL SECURED TIGHTLY (some reported this loose and caused some issue)
4) Turn on engine and hear for any unusual sound (be warned that this engine is quite loud when just started but cannot be heard when inside the car, after warmed up will quiet down)
5) There will be a piece of paper on the fuse box. This is normal and you can remove it.

Boot
1) Check emergency kit complete
2) Check spare tyre present (full size tyre)
3) Check tools present (basic tyre opening tools & jack)
4) Check user manuals, service manuals, etc complete

Driving
1) When driving, hear if any funny sounds
2) Check if gear changes smooth
3) When braking no jerking or sound
4) Turn steering to max see if ok.
5) Check if air conditioning cool
6) If you dare, drive above 110 and see if got wind sound from driver window side
7) If CVT version, test if paddle shift works
8) For auto version, shift lock release will have a soft "klak" sound

What else ah? Perhaps others can add to this list then DarkAngel put it as sticky at front page for others to check.

Thanks man very detail lolx but dunno if will remember all of them XD
Cut & paste to excel sheet with a tick box then print out. Bring along when you collect the car... if got any issues highlight to SA and it will be recorded, they will then issue a warranty claim form for you to do remedial works at authorised SC. If SA is good, they can also bring the car in for you to fix. I did it myself coz I did not want to wait any longer to drive it home biggrin.gif For my case, there was a gap below the left head lamp area, when SC checked, the bumper was not slot in properly... duh... other than that no issues. rclxms.gif

i just realized that my inspira engine sound so funny, almost like my friend land cruiser diesel engine car sound .  sweat.gif

Added on June 29, 2011, 4:59 pmbro XCInspire, my car don have opening tools one leh? i tot new car no free anymore. lol what should i do
*
Yes, engine is very loud in the morning when warming up.. thereafter it will quiet down. Yes, like diesel engine.. haha..

What is opening tools? You mean to remove the tyre? There should be 1 L shaped tool to open the tyre lug nuts. Its not the X shaped tool anymore.

Then there is this unusual looking hook - that is to tow your car or tow something behind. There is this square opening on front n back bumper, open it and you can screw in this hook for ppl to tow you or u tow something. Be warned our cars are not meant to tow heavy thing for long distances... Its not a 4WD.

ya wo, dont have the tools that remove the tyre, i also feel weird when i check at house, when i collect my new car, no check anything, too happy already.
*
Then must go claim lor. What did you find in your boot? Emergency kit? The little thermos like astray? Did u open your emergency kit to check what is inside? How about jack up tool? But somehow no more tool set like screwdriver, wretch, etc... think they don't encourage diy...

Any Black Inspira drivers here who regret their decisions and think that they should've gotten a White one instead? I'm having dilemma to decide on these 2 colours ( black & white ) White looks a lot more sporty but have to take very good care of it . Black looks good with its slight bluish colour in day time but looks like a weirdo at night.
*
Both colors are very hard to maintain but at least white will not see swirl marks so easily as black under streetlight and looks sportier. Lazy ppl like me take silver, dirty or not cannot be seen so easily tongue.gif Its a common color but I like silver smile.gif SA keep ask me change color, I said NO, I want my silver surfer.
