For all you perps that cant get in Gears of War 3 beta, have a try on Section 8. This is similar to Section 8 release years ago and its really GOOD.

QUOTE
Despite generating the sort of revenue that could bail out a high street bank, first-person shooters are in crisis. There's a sense that the tide is turning against the market leaders, that too many iterations in too short a space of time have burned out the hardcore, leaving little enthusiasm for new additions to the shooter family tree. We probably won't feel the impact for another few years, but there's a large meteorite headed for these lumbering, violent dinosaurs of the gaming scene.

I Wish ODST had this.

LIKES

+ For $15 this game makes $50-60 fps games a joke interms of contain.
+ 32players dedicated server Battlefield
+ Dynamic objective, which players need to adapt
+ reward players whom perform their objective with ingame cash, which could be used for defences/vehicles/mechs
+ squashing ppl on the ground, brings a whole new level of fun
+ Improved in every expect without Copying COD.

DISLIKES

- PC like controls with no aim assist. added a gta4 autoaim (annoying)
- guns have deadon accuracy/ balance issue
- vehicles controls are not as good as Halo, and will get stuck.
- bugs, high potential for fix and improvement
- 1 more mode lock until this game hit the targeted sales.

Completed campaign on hard mode. Not really hard at all. Most of the enemies you can just run through them and complete the necessary objective. Didnt really enjoy the story. The campaign is like a long winded introduction to the game to help you get on your feet in the multiplayer modes.

Even though the graphics arent spectacular, but the objective based multiplayer game modes are pretty good. The conquest mode has actually objectives that you have to complete and at the same time capture control points to gain an advantage (turrets, supply depots, radar, etc.) in the battlefield. This mode support 32 players and the dedicated servers arent favorable to us.

The reviews praise the game's affordability with a tag of 1200 M$ points but personally i dont feel it at all. However if you like a distinctive way of multiplayer rather than the usual TDM, DM, CTF, S&D... then this game is for you.

I think the highlight here is the MP. For a smaller budget team, they could produce contains similiar to a full retail game, although is buggy. Introduce some new concept of MP.

its kinda confusing for newbies who havent played the first section8. I myself dont find the learning curve is a bit steep. Often objective popping out telling u to deliver an airstrike marker, where u have no idea how to do it and how to use them.
