Malaysian passport photos are supposed to be approximately 35mm by 50mm. Slight variations are acceptable. I know a photo shop that sets their photos at 38mm x 52mm. In their case, that is excluding the white border around each photo.

eh passport photo is not about the photosize but the right composition (angle of the headshot)... for online, just resize the filesize to thier requirement, for adjusting they will do it themselves. they have a 'template' for the first page for printout.

1. set canvas dimension in for the ACTUAL photo. 150 dpi is more than enough.
2. create new layer, paint it all white. then delete the areas where the photo suppose to appear. this is for the border.
3. place the JPG of your photo in the PSD file, move the layer under the layer that holds the border. adjust the image to fit.

i just went to the Online Passport website and discover that they indicate the Internet Explorer version 7 only. Does this mean all other browser like Opera , Firefox and Safari (mac) can't be accepted? have anyone try submitting it other than IE?
thanks.

i was about to do the same thing as you layout here but someone said without the white border itself also can be accepted which is 3.5cm x 5cm. U see the confuse part is that 3.5cm x 5cm is with white border or not.

If i create the photo 3.5cm x 5cm and than add in few mm for the border than the size has enlarged beyond their specs.

ok to be more accurate, their specs mentioned in the website is 3.5cm x 5cm and i presume they meant the size of photo is 3.5cm x 5cm. The border should not be counted in it. If to create a border, than the size of it should be expanded . correct?

sure, thanks. i assume the border is made it easy for cutting out in aligning purposes. just get it.

Added on April 29, 2011, 3:24 pm Submitted my homemade ic and it works.
I submitted the one without border. Seems like the custom scan the photo and did not use the one given . quality not so good for scanning.
so many public taking photos there.. wat a waste of time queueing and paying for poor photo shoot.
