Taman Muda near the Morning market or behind the 7 eleven always pack with people and his pork mix porridge. Pandan Jaya inside a corner kopitiam facing main road. Anyway I still prefer the Taman Muda. Anway also the keow teow, pork ball, roasted sausage are same only the soup is the main cause the taste. I remember when I still very young in Kepong Baru morning market there is a kopitiam selling this Sam Kang Cheong very nice and famous now still selling but different people may be his son. So where is your famous Sam Kang Cheong and why do you like it?

smile.gif The coffeeshop at the corner of Jalan Imbi/Jalan Barat junction. By far the most famous Pork Ball Noodle, selling at RM6.00 per bowl nowadays. Another one is Tanming Jaya in Balakong where the whole family , 4 members are selling. The father in Tanming Jaya, Tai Kar Lok, the daughter in Taman Impian Ehsan near Giant also Balakong, the mother in D'sara somewhere and the son in-law in Taman Mahkota Cheras. So the taste is the same for all four outlets. Another quite popular Pork Ball Noodle is in Jalan Peel,(operating from 5.00 pm till midnight) just a few shops after the Shell Station. Also quite OK.

The thing is 'sam kan chong' pork balls and the 'bbq intestine' is from one single supplier, ie. if the stall operator wants the best and obviously the most expensive ones. The factory is located in Jinjang Utara and is the son of the original 'sam kan chong' meaning three shops situated in Jalan Silang many years ago. Off course there are other suppliers that try to imitate but the taste and texture is not the same and the sizes different. According to the supplier, original sam kan chong has no mince pork but has been added nowadays and the original gives pickled green chillies and not chilly padi as most stall sells. thumbup.gif

Hokkien mee is at night. Day time is just like any normal coffeeshop with sam kan chong, CKT, pork noodle, pastries etc. At night, the hokkien mee, we used to called him 'ma chai'. He likes turf club, the last time off course, now I don't know who fries the noodle. laugh.gif

In the morning, this shop is very popular for its 3JC noodles.

They have open a branch in Kota Kemuning as well.

I am not a fan of this noodle but I have eaten it several times and its quite nice.

smile.gif For the full story on San Jian Zhuang here.

Other than PJ/KL I have yet to eat 3JC in any other places. One thing I do know is this is a native KL noodle dish and nowhere else it is available. Most probably it is because of the supply of the pork balls and the sausage. The pork ball cannot be refrigerated and it only last for 2 days and unused it gets slimy after that. I do know that the former stall operator in Lisan Restaurant in Taman Connaught (now a franchise Kopitiam already) used to send 2 boxes via bus services to Kuantan and another one destination unknown. They are sent daily.

You are lucky to have tried before the original. The three shops has long been demolished and the original operator has passed away (I heard). The son is now producing it to wholesale . He still runs the stall at Lot 3474, Main Street, Jinjang Utara, KL. Most of the operators gets thier BBQ sausage and pork balls from him and another which claims that he is also related to the original.

The one in Jalan Peel is a shack by the roadside, beside a car workshop. It is located about a hundred metres from the Shell's traffic light junction, on the same side as Shell. The stall sells curry noodle and SJZ only and operates at night . In Taman Mahkota, it is located in DeCoffee Cafe, morning sessions until 4 pm. smile.gif

The one in Restoran Win Heng Seng along Jalan Imbi still wins my vote. But the crowd during peak hours is kinda scary due to lack of sitting area.

Yap, for me.........This store in my top 5 listing... skill of cooking noodle is good, mince pork also a bit more than others, but price a bit higher and don't have fried bowel......and a bit expensive.......yesterday went there cost me RM8.00 for a big bowl dry mee.

Added on May 4, 2011, 9:57 pm
Just try the Jln peel store last nite......price is fair, rm4.50 for big bowl...........just I feel the soup is not really sam kan zhong and the taste of the dry noodle tended to be similar with pork noodle........overall taste is suit me as well smile.gif......

Will go to have a try for Tmn Mahkota tomorrow smile.gif

I am not sure now as I have stopped doing food business for the past 6 years already. Yes, they only do wholesale. But there is a stall in Pudu wet market that also stocks the product. You have to ask the stalls. As for soup base or cook all, there's one stall who can do it. He has his own stall in one of the coffee shop Taman Sungei Besi Indah. Restoren Lonn Siew 3°01'42.3"N 101°43'34.7"E Try asking him and see. Not sure of the place, just check the GPS coordinates in Google maps.

As I mentioned , it's been 6 years already, I am not sure if they are still doing business. If the intention is for business, it is not worth it to get everything from them, profit margin is too low.
