If your VS4121 is still good then continue using it.
are you using standard built in soundcard? if yes then upgrade, if no then no need

S330D is same level with your VS4121 or below... so don't bother bout upgrading

*
Wah, few years ago the VS4121 if not wrong should be around RM2xx, RM4xx S330D is same lv with it but price is almost double...  shocking.gif

haha cuz srsly the altec lansing is like good stuff... until the new company (plantronics I think) took over and started to create new cut cost versions of every speaker, including the good ones... now like all crapped up already haha.

I miss the MX5021

*
Haha, yeah, its too bad compare to last time RM2xx can get a very good quality speaker but now need RM4xx-5xx for the same quality for any brands.

Anyway i planning to buy the new speaker for my Desktop PC in a Small Room, do i need buy extra SoundCard with the Build-In SC as below? No money to buy the SC as the good one its too expensive for me sweat.gif

(Mobo EP45-UD3R)
Realtek ALC889A codec
High Definition Audio
2/4/5.1/7.1-channel
Support for S/PDIF In/Out
Support for CD In

MAX Budget around RM500, need Sifus give me some idea hmm.gif I don't know what is the difference of 5.1, 2.1 and 2.0 speaker actually, confusing rclxub.gif
And currently eyeing on the Logitech Z623, Edifier R501, C3, S330(Not S330D as if i not wrong the digital input is for those staff like PS3 which i don't need) and other brand and model as well, im noob in the Audio System hence need Sifus give some advise notworthy.gif

70% for Movie (Most the time is watching Action Movie , like Transformers, Avengers and those Pew Pew Pew Ji Ba BOOOOM movie thumbup.gif
20% for Game (Online MMORPG, i seldom play FPS game as will gonna vomit and feeling dizzy after play those like Call of Duty rclxub.gif
10% Music (Almost just listen to Internet Streaming Radio, seldom got for MP3)

i think it's better to go bit streaming rather than getting a soundcard.

5.1 is surround sound. you'll have 6 speakers and wires all around. if you watch movies off youtube it's a waste of time.
2.1 is 2 satellite + subwoofer. the most common cheap solution nowadays.
2.0 is no subwoofer. for this setup it's best to get bookshelf speakers but because the lack of a woofer it won't go boom.

for your purpose get 2.1 or 5.1

your mobo has coaxial and optical out. so you can get S330D
*
S330D? hm.. what about S330? Is there a difference when connecting using difference input or normally just using the 3.5mm Jack? Im noob in speaker ... haha blink.gif

Anyway, if i wanna test the speaker for Edifier and Logitech, is there a good place near PJ or KL?

s330d difference?
maybe placebo.  rolleyes.gif
it depends on their dac.

well i never tried them, so i do not know.
anyway, saw HCS2330 in the curve.
RM279 + RM30 coupon. salesgirl said it's kfc coupon.

they don't have R1600T for me to check out, so dunno.
*
wow, RM279 + RM30 coupon, nice deal bro, is there selling C3 and S330 as well? mind to tell the location and the name of this shop drool.gif

PJ Digital Mall there got Edifier and Logitech...

not sure why ut the display unit getting smaller and smaller everyday... sad

and I don't think you can find S330 anymore... all comes with special 'D' XD

and connecting it requires a special different cable for optical... you will have to buy optical cable for it... (unifi for speaker woohoo)
unless you connect via coaxial... though got special cable for coaxial... use standard RCA oso can lol
digital and analog... wooo.... lotsa stuff weh...

if your mobo soundcard sux... the built in dac of the speaker will sound better... so you connect via digital optical/coaxial
if your soundcard is like richboy high quality type... it is expensive enough to make your speaker sound good then connect via analog...
it's just pairing... see which fits you best
*
Yo Power911 bro, hm..... i still confuse... the current cap ayam speaker that i using is connecting to the mobo green colour port which is like the 3.5mm jack.

Is this so call the Analog? confusing rclxub.gif But the way, for the Built-In sound card in the Mobo, is that enough and not wasted the potential of a good speaker for MAX budget around RM500, Example : C3 or Logitech Z623? hmm.gif

yup. that is analog.

if you use mobo soundcard for such speakers then you are feeding poor quality to good speakers...

you can still use and it will still sound good but then if you upgrade you will hear improvements.

use mobo soundcard... if you are satisfied then no need to upgrade. if not then only upgrade

just climb step by step

Argh, thats painful for my wallet cry.gif

Anyway is the internal DAC in speaker is better than my Built-In sound card? blink.gif

yes... internal dac in edifier speakers are pretty good I gotta say...

but the S330D I dunno... they sound harsh to my ears no matter how much I try to love it...

I got the S530D and I gotta say their internal DAC is pretty legit
*
out of budget rclxub.gif

how about the C3? is that nice for the internal DAC?

Ok thanks shiro bro, will have a look there smile.gif

C3 has no internal DAC XD

C5,HCS5640 and the P series got internal DAC but it's for the radio,SD and usb flashdrive playback only tongue.gif

The S Series are the only few which has internal DAC except Edifier S550 (which the S750 is supposed to come out to replace it but I dunno when it's gonna be released till now)
*
hm...mean better go for S330/D as C3 no internal DAC to match with my crap built-in sound card rclxub.gif

I would suggest you to go for c3 lol

S330D sounded kinda... cheap >.<

the trebles will kill you lol

Go for C3... then next time upgrade soundcard... RM160 T-Muso USB DAC will do

if you go S330D there's no space for upgrades... C3 at least got potential in the future

as long as your laptop headphone out still works then yes...
*
budge raise from 2xx to 4xx and still need to get a DAC converter, Audiophiles really a wallet killer rclxub.gif

But anyways thanks for the advise Power911 bro smile.gif
