those two logitechs are the best you can get with optical inputs

Z906 would suit you mainly you don't need that much bass and the 8" subwoofer is more than enough compared to the Z-5500 10" subwoofer which gets too boomy

questions about DAC converting optical to analogue has been asked many times around the forum but not many answers available.
even if they do the DAC alone cost a bomb already

he wants something that has 5.1 output not just stereo output

it is possible to get surround speakers to work with RCA inputs, especially if you're using a desktop computer.
but do keep in mind that to achieve surround sound with RCA it's going to be super messy.

but a PS3 doesn't have analogue output for cheap 5.1 systems...(like Edifier S530D,DA5000PRO or HCS5640) only digitally optical or HDMI (do note that)
some forumers didn't realize that that's why they recommended those by mistake

furthermore many movies doesn't support full surround experience... thus many complains surround speakers are wasted too.

please... never under estimate this china branded Edifier as it performs very well according to it's price.

and it's not like you want Corsair SP2500 or Razer Mako (which is a good speaker... just that you hate it for no other reasons than being gaming speaker...)

yes... that's the best 5.1 you can get for Rm400 below

multimedia speaker satellites (only the satellites, throw the sub away if you want passive bookshelves)

delete Sonic Gear A7 from your list and add Edifier HCS2330 or Altec Lansing VS4621

wouldn't really mind Sonic Gear but I'm just afraid that it may be another bad product

not all movies will provide you surround sound...
and for cheap price I don't think it could even support any dolby digital surround thingy...

plus it's a hassle to connect full 5.1 surround speakers as you'll get messy wires and ended up placing everything in front (like what most average people nowadays do XD)

2.1 should be enough to fill a small bedroom
go for Edifier C3 for better mids as the S330D midrange kinda sucked for far range listening,

or go for edifier R501 mkii and keep the excess speakers.(or plug into line in input) you need an RCA to 3.5mm cable tho since it doesn't support digital

go for Edifier like how you suggested and choose HCS2330

and it'll go mute XD

I was continuing bro nismo91 comment about not supporting lossless data

once lossless data detected, the speaker just go mute like there's no signal

squeeze for Edifier S530D or Corsair SP2500 or Harman Kardon Soundsticks III or Creative Gigaworks T3 or AE Aego M

or maybe upgrade your Edifier C3 to C6 (aka HCS5640)
Edifier DA5000PRO oso not bad

what I've recommended there is around RM700-800 range for your ease.

Performance wise of C3 vs. C6
C6 performs better overall especially in terms of subwoofer power and crisp clear refined trebles (unlike C3 plastic sounding trebles)
I tell you the mids are thick and full of power

S530D on the other hand, performs differently (in a good way)

I don't know about performance in 5.1 but

HCS5640 can work very well for bassheads (recommended for FPS games or rumbling movie explosions)
you can set the HCS5640 speaker/subwoofer ratio to reduce the volume on sats and increase SW and overall volume, giving out more powerful subwoofer depending on situations like movies and games
almost as powerful as logitech speakers but with tighter bass
you can almost mute the satellites and leave only the sub bumpin hard and vice versa if you want only the satellites to work


the S530D can't do that much for bassheads... satellite power maybe a little too powerful sometimes (only sometimes) leaving the subwoofer weak and useless on large areas (I didn't really cared much about this part though)(it performs well with games too)
but do note in terms of clarity I'd prefer the S530D over HCS5640. So test it out first before getting one if possible.

much more powerful compared to C3 with instant win...
you get double the bass, subwoofer and satellite bass

(might get muddy if satellite got bass but meh, I like how it sounds this way )
