Hi, I'd like to seek some recommendation between these 2 models,

ex300 and xb40ex, IMO, both got equal pros and cons, I'll list some very important point between these 2 that made me having a headache which to choose

ex300, +balanced sound, -cable uses another extensions.
xb40ex, +no extension required, -extra bass not that good in other musics.

My Rig: ipod, laptop
Type of usage: music on ipod, connect to laptop for other purpose as well
File format: mp3, avi, etc
Music genre:trance, j-pop, etc. (sorry about this, don't know much)
Budget: 200-250
Headphone/ earphone type: Earphone (Earbud that uses silicone rubber/noise isolating phones)

Any suggestion would be great, I had previous MDR-EX33LP, it was great but the L-shaped connector got loose and it would be dead anytime soon... I prefer the L-shaped connector than the ordinary straight connector...

Thanks in advance

Try Fischer Audio Eterna. I owned EX33 long ago and I can assure you the Eterna is miles ahead of EX33 smile.gif

owh, I never heard of this brand before, been always sticking with sony after my cliptec were 'destroyed' naturally. What will this eterna be if compared with these two sony's model i mentioned earlier? The price really is something for this eterna v2 though, any other suggestion under 250?

Oh yea, I wear a glass, so any earphones like clip-style or over the ear style, I personally think it's a hassle since it would mess with my glass as well

erm, any reasons? that fischer eterna v2 isn't my choice since it needs to be put over the ear and eventually will get a little bit tangled with my glass at the back of my ears.

earphones really is one of the hardest choice of all...

I forgot to mention that, I do prefer L shaped mini stereo plug rather than the straight mini stereo plug

I wear glasses and I've never had any problems wearing IEMs over the ear. I used to own a SoundMAGIC PL50 and thoses needed to be worn over the ear. I also wear my Future Sonics Atrio over the ear.

owh... somehow I decided to go beyond Sony brand and couldn't find any that's nice from those review websites except for its ex300 flagships, almost going for altec lansing though...

could you tell me about the specs and its differences in short? I saw some specs about these are so many differences and one noticeable things is, impedance, frequencies, sensitivities, driver size...

I guess I'll go for fischer eterna v2 then

Differences between what?

I tend to overlook the specs almost entirely. The only things I look at in specs are the sensitivity and impedance, to anticipate how efficient the IEM/headphone could be (which in some cases isn't reliable either).

If you're gonna wear over the ear, just make sure that the cable is over the glasses' stalk (the bit holding on to your head). tongue.gif

well... the figures in specs I mean, I do remembered I read something about this specs somewhere before and they says that

impedance = resistance to achieve maximum volume
frequency range = erm, maybe the range of sound we will hear? (I'm not very sure about this)
driver size = better qualities on larger sizes?
sensitivity = higher is better

well, I'm not too sure about these things actually, just some facts from some texts and others... and they said that it's much better if you try them out rather than overlook the spec only

Yes, you should try them out to know the comfort and the suitability of the IEM for your genre. Spec is only a small part of the total equation.

Which one is okay based on my preferences? or you can suggest any IEMs that is suitable for me.

Thank you

Since you set a RM 400 budget, try out Klipsch Image S4. I tried it before. Seriously I like it a lot. Balanced with bass and clear.

- My Rig: Laptop/Samsung Galaxy S2
- Type of usage: Movies, Music, Games
- File format: mostly MP3s
- Music genre: I listen to any kind of music really, instrumental, rock, pop, alternative, techno, classical. Basically anything that pleases my ears so I'd like something that is a jack of all trades
- Budget: below RM250
- Headphone/ earphone type: preferably circumaural but on ears are also OK
- Other requirements (if any): something comfy and will not break easily. I'm not particular about bass so a below average bass would be ok.

E1 - AKG is having a sale; http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2004671
so if anything from there fulfills my requirements then I'd get it. Also, I've heard that Sennheiser HD201 is a good headphone considering the price. Should I get HD201 instead of AKG K404 or KOSS PortaPro? Thank you for you feedback!

Hi, thank you for thr interest. However, regret to inform that both the AKG K404 and KOSS PortaPro are sold out nod.gif

You may want to consider the award winning AKG K420 instead.
