I thought there is stereo output on the box. Can't you use this to connect to your TV or your TV do not have RCA connector for L and R audio?

Depends on TV. Some will pass the 5.1 surround signal and some will not. Normally however, the TV has internal mixer to convert the 5.1 into stereo sound. Since the 5.1 sound can be split into any speaker, the sound produced after mixer might not be good. Normally voice are channeled to center speaker, but if it is channeled to L and R front, the stereo re-production might become faint or more like background sound.

I suggest that you try to connect the L R audio cable also. See how the result. It will not do any harm and the wire is cheap. Even if you have surround speakers later, you can just turn off the TV speakers volume. The mixer the the player normally will produce more better sound because it is mixed at source, not the the output 

the low voice-loud music thingy is normal for 5.1 or 7.1 files. to avoid that, u just get lower grade files with 2.0 audio.

u can try other audio settings, much the same, i tried before.
the rca l/r audio cables are meant to work with composite video output. if u connect both hdmi and l/r to same tv at same time, the l/r will be nulled.
if u use l/r audio with composite video, the video sucks!

well, when you have better broadband, >10mbps and a fairly new 5.1 home theater, you will be able to get the max out of the Q16.

Q16 is excellent for 2 things:

- large flash memory allows the largest 1080p files in popcorn to stream nicely
- audio pass thru for dtshdma, ddtruehd and dolby atmos
